PathLAD+: Towards effective exact methods for subgraph isomorphism problem

The subgraph isomorphism problem (SIP) is a challenging problem with wide practical applications. In the last decade, despite being a theoretical hard problem, researchers designed various algorithms for solving SIP. In this work, we propose five main strategies and develop an improved exact algorithm for SIP. First, we design a probing search procedure to try whether the search procedure can successfully obtain a solution at first sight. Second, we design a novel matching ordering strategy as a value-ordering heuristic, which uses some useful information obtained from the probing search procedure to preferentially select some promising target vertices. Third, we discuss the characteristics of different propagation methods in the context of SIP and present an adaptive propagation method to make a good balance between these methods. Moreover, to further improve the performance of solving large graphs, we propose an enhanced implementation of the edge constraint method and a domain limitation strategy, which aims to accelerate the search process. Experimental results on a broad range of classic and graph-database benchmarks show that our proposed algorithm performs better than several state-of-the-art algorithms for the SIP. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

In order to support computing-intensive and service-sensitive Internet of Vehicles (IoV) applications, Digital Twin and edge computing are attractive solutions. Most of the existing IoV service offloading solutions only consider edge-cloud collaboration, but the cooperation between small cell eNodeB(SCeNB) nodes should not be ignored. Through reasonable cooperative computing between nodes, service delays far lower than offloading tasks to the cloud can be obtained. We generate and maintain the simulation of cooperation between SCeNB nodes by constructing a Digital twin to simulate SCeNB nodes in the small cell manager (SCM), thereby realizing user task offloading positions, sub-channel allocation and computing resource allocation. After that, we proposed an algorithm AUC-AC based on the dominant actor critic network and the auction-mechanism. In the DT of each SCeNB node, the global strategy is learned via deep reinforcement learning model. Numerical results show that our proposed experimental scheme is better than several baseline algorithms in terms of service delay. © 2021 IEEE.

The application of automobile tool software is becoming increasingly widespread, and its functions are becoming increasingly diverse. Using vehicle traffic data to give users with recommendations for Points-of-interest (POI) is becoming an intriguing research challenge. However, the current POI recommendation is either a sequence-based method, ignoring the interaction information between users and POIs. Or it needs a lot of model training time to use graph correlation method to mine the interaction between users or vehicles and POIs. In order to address these issues, we propose a method for vehicle check-in data-driven POI recommendation based on improved Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Graph Convolutional Network (GCN). First, we apply SVD to replace the neighborhood aggregation update method in traditional GCN, update the node embedding with fewer parameters and faster speed. Second, we propose an information enhancement strategy to make up for the information loss caused by the SVD. Experiments on large vehicle check-in datasets demonstrate that our method is both faster and more effective when making POI recommendations. © 2022 IEEE.

Question-controlled Text-aware Image Captioning (Qc-TextCap), is the task of generating a distinctive scene text aware caption according to several personalized questions when given an image. However, due to the diversity of visual scene, it is hard for current Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems to extract complete scene text sentences from the images. Besides, existing works are limited in their use of question features and visual features. In this paper, we propose a Multimodal Transformer plus Scene text clustering and Cross modal attention (MTSC) to tackle the above challenges. We devise scene text clustering to group relevant scene text pieces which are detected as separate results by current OCR systems. To better utilize the information in questions and images, we design cross modal attention to enrich the features of both modalities. We extensively evaluate our model on the two Qc-TextCap datasets and superior results are achieved when comparing to state-of-the-art approaches.

With the development of next-generation sequencing technology, massive genomic data has been generated, primarily encouraging research on cancer driver genes. Many bioinformatics methods were proposed to identify driver genes. However, the results of driver gene identification a mong these methods show considerable differences. It is still challenging to obtain a comprehensive catalog of cancer drivers. Although current methods have greatly promoted the development of driver genes, few methods can integrate the identification results of existing methods. To solve such problems in cancer driver genes research, we proposed a cascade forest model to discover cancer driver genes(CFC) that can integrate multi-omics data and annotation scores from different cancer driver gene identification algorithms. The proposed method got precise results for 33 cancer types and Pan-cancer. The CFC framework identified 275 driver genes in Pan-cancer, of which 179 were included in the Gold standard. The identified genes were enriched i n t he principal cancer signaling pathways. © 2022 IEEE.

The grim situation of novel coronavirus pneumonia 2019 (COVID-19) and its terrible spreading speed have already constituted a severe risk to human life, so it is ultimately essential to rapidly and accurately diagnose for COVID-19 pneumonia. Based on this study's 746 lung CT images, we propose Multi-MedVit, a novel auxiliary COVID-19 diagnosis framework based on the multi-input Transformer. We compare Multi-MedVit with state-of-the-art deep learning methods, such as CNN, VGG16, and ResNet50. Multi-MedVit outperformed the other methods on the benchmark dataset and proved that multiscale data input for data augmentation helped enhance model stability. Based on an interpretable analysis of the input and output of Multi-MedVit, we found that with the support of the training set data, the model has been possible to accurately focus on the lesion area for diagnosis of COVID-19 without expert annotations, which can provide initial references containing more potential information to doctors more precisely and fleetly. © 2022 IEEE.

A Systematic Literature Review on Large Language Models for Automated Program Repair

Automated Program Repair (APR) attempts to patch software bugs and reduce manual debugging efforts. Very recently, with the advances in Large Language Models (LLMs), a rapidly increasing number of APR techniques have been proposed, significantly facilitating software development and maintenance and demonstrating remarkable performance. However, due to ongoing explorations in the LLM-based APR field, it is challenging for researchers to understand the current achievements, challenges, and potential opportunities. This work provides the first systematic literature review to summarize the applications of LLMs in APR between 2020 and 2024. We analyze 127 relevant papers from LLMs, APR and their integration perspectives. First, we categorize existing popular LLMs that are applied to support APR and outline three types of utilization strategies for their deployment. Besides, we detail some specific repair scenarios that benefit from LLMs, e.g., semantic bugs and security vulnerabilities. Furthermore, we discuss several critical aspects of integrating LLMs into APR research, e.g., input forms and open science. Finally, we highlight a set of challenges remaining to be investigated and the potential guidelines for future research. Overall, our paper provides a systematic overview of the research landscape to the APR community, helping researchers gain a comprehensive understanding of achievements and promote future research. Regression errors of Deep Neural Network (DNN) models refer to the case that predictions were correct by the old-version model but wrong by the new-version model. They frequently occur when upgrading DNN models in production systems, causing disproportionate user experience degradation. In this paper, we propose a lightweight regression error reduction approach with two goals: 1) requiring no model retraining and even data, and 2) not sacrificing the accuracy. The proposed approach is built upon the key insight rooted in the unmanaged model uncertainty, which is intrinsic to DNN models, but has not been thoroughly explored especially in the context of quality assurance of DNN models. Specifically, we propose a simple yet effective ensemble strategy that estimates and aligns the two models' uncertainty. We show that a Pareto improvement that reduces the regression errors without compromising the overall accuracy can be guaranteed in theory and largely achieved in practice. Comprehensive experiments with various representative models and datasets confirm that our approaches significantly outperform the state-of-the-art alternatives.
