Active queue management (AQM) is an effective method used in Internet routers to enhance congestion control, and to achieve a trade off between link utilization and delay. The de facto standard, the random early detection (RED) AQM scheme, and most of its variants use queue length as a congestion indicator to trigger packet dropping. Random early detection (RED) is a widely studied active queue management (AQM) scheme implemented in routers for Internet congestion control. Although certain stability conditions for various RED controllers are discussed, no efficient method for dynamically adapting control gains or result on control gain optimization has been proposed so far. Therefore based on control theory, this paper proposes proportional and integral RED (PI-RED) algorithm, that not only considers the average queue length at the current time slot, but also takes into consideration the past average queue lengths within a round trip time. We provide guidelines for the selection of the feedback gains (the proportional parameter and the integral parameter) for TCP/RED system to stabilize the dynamics, make the congested queue converge at a certain target and hence to improve network performance. Simulations demonstrate that indeed satisfactory performance can be achieved if the control gains are selected based on the guidelines. Based on the stability condition and control gains selection method, extensive simulations with ns2 demonstrate that indeed satisfactory performance can be achieved in terms of robustness, drop probability and stability if the control gains are selected based on the guidelines

Solution of grid computing flow using MDA methodology

This paper presents an approach to build a flow of grid services named GFlow. This approach converts all of the services' interfaces in globus toolkit 3 into platform independent model format. The conversion uses eclipse modeling framework plug-ins and graphical editing framework plug-ins to parse the models into platform specific models, which are responsible for implementation of grid services' clients and servers and their automatic deployment. This paper emphasizes on design method, which uses model drive architecture, and design process, which uses model-view-control.

This paper is concerned with modeling and control of the networked control systems (NCSs). A new general model for the considered NCSs is proposed under consideration of network-induced delay, data packet dropout and nonlinear characteristic simultaneously. Based on the given model, an optimal controller with feedback gain optimized based on GASA algorithm (genetic algorithm and simulated anneal algorithm) is proposed. Compared to existing controllers, the proposed one is less conservative and can be applied to nonlinear NCSs. Two examples show the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

This paper gives a deterministic controller design approach for a class of multiple-time-scale Markov jumping linear systems, which admit strong ill-conditioned dynamics. The proposed deterministic controller do not use the jumping mode information, and therefore is very useful in some cases when the jumping information is unavailable. The design procedure reduces to solving a set of bilinear matrix inequalities, which is an NP-hard problem. Therefore, we propose a homotopy algorithm to solve it and obtain the feasible solutions. The numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Minimum entropy control has been studied extensively. Controllers satisfying a closed-loop minimum entropy condition provide a means of trading off the robustness of H infin control with the performance of H 2 controller. In this paper, the minimum entropy H infin mixed sensitivity method is described, followed by the controller design for an aircraft longitudinal flight control. Analysis tests and simulations illustrate that the minimum entropy controller has better performances than most of the other H infin controllers which belong to a certain subset of the "unit ball in H infin "

In this paper, we propose a real-time lane detection algorithm based on a hyperbola-pair lane boundary model and an improved RANSAC paradigm. Instead of modeling each road boundary separately, we propose a model to describe the road boundary as a pair of parallel hyperbolas on the ground plane. A fuzzy measurement is introduced into the RANSAC paradigm to improve the accuracy and robustness of fitting the points on the boundaries into the model. Our method is able to deal with existence of partial occlusion, other traffic participants and markings, etc. Experiment in many different conditions, including various conditions of illumination, weather and road, demonstrates its high performance and accuracy

Heterogeneous clustered sensor networks (HCSNs) help meet the cost, lifetime, and scalability requirements of real applications. However, the security solution should be reconsidered for their unique properties, such as uneven resources and in-network processing. In this paper, we provide a resource oriented security solution (ROSS) to protect the network connectivity of HCSNs. ROSS is a robust security solution that is embedded into network layer operations, resulting in in-depth defense against attacks from both external attackers and compromised nodes. Through security analysis and performance simulation, we demonstrate that ROSS not only achieves the predefined security goals, but also allows a tradeoff between security and performance cost

This paper first discusses the progress and existing problems in the study of cooperative graphics editing systems (CGES), and then a new distributed multi-versioning model based on version replication is proposed for consistency maintenance of discordant conflicting operations according to the conflicting features and types of concurrent operations in CGES. Based on this model, the scheme of expressing versions is further discussed in detail, including the method of expressing versions and showing execution effect of versions. Then an algorithm of multiple versions incremental creation based on version replication is devised, and an application example is given. The discussion ends up with the future research

In this paper, we investigate the theoretical aspects of the nonuniform node distribution strategy in wireless sensor networks, which aims to avoid the energy hole around the sink. We find that in a circular sensor network with a nonuniform node distribution and constant data reporting, the unbalanced energy depletion among the nodes in the whole network is unavoidable. This is because although all the inner nodes have used up their energy simultaneously, the outmost part of the network may still have energy left. In spite of this fact, a suboptimal energy efficiency among the inner parts of the network is possible if the number of nodes increases with geometric proportion from the outer parts to the inner ones. In our proposed nonuniform node distribution strategy, the ratio between the node densities of the adjacent (i+1)th corona and the ith corona is equal to (2i-1)/q(2i+1), where q is the geometric proportion mentioned above. We also present a routing algorithm with this node distribution strategy. Simulation experiments demonstrate that when the network lifetime has ended, the nodes in the inner parts of the network achieve nearly balanced energy depletion, and only less than 10% of the total energy is wasted

With the increase of multicast data applications, research interests have focused on the design of congestion control schemes for multicast communications. This paper describes a novel control-theoretic multicast congestion control scheme, which is based on the distributed self-tuning proportional plus integrative (SPI) controller. The control parameters can be designed to ensure the stability of the control loop in terms of source rate. The distributed explicit rate SPI overcomes the vulnerability that suffers from the heterogeneous multicast receivers. It is suggested that the congestion controller is located at the multipoint-to-multipoint multicast source to regulate the transmission rate. We further analyze the theoretical aspects of the proposed algorithm, and show how the control mechanism can be used to design a controller to support multicast transmissions. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme in terms of system stability and fast response of the buffer occupancy, as well as controlled sending rates, low packet loss, and high scalability
