A MIMO Neural Network Integrated with Maximum Likelihood Phase Recovery for Transoceanic Coherent Transmission

We proposed a low-complexity multi-input multi-output neural network integrated with a maximum likelihood phase recovery algorithm (MIMO-NN-BMLPR), which is adopted in long-haul coherent optical communication. Neural network based equalization can effectively overcome the nonlinear distortions induced during long-haul transmission. However, the forward neural network equalizer is difficult to track the phase of coherent optical signals. We integrate an additional maximum likelihood phase recovery layer with the MIMO-NN structure so that the phase noise can be compensated. In this work, 8-channel 100-GBaud dual-polarization (DP) PS-16QAM signals are successfully transmitted over 6400km and satisfy the normalized generalized mutual information (NGMI) threshold at 0.86. The proposed MIMO-NN-BMLPR integrates the low-complexity phase estimation with the NNE to improve the performance. Compared with the traditional DSP structure, the proposal prolongs the distance by 48.84% with a 39.80% complexity reduction. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

Design and performance evaluation of a novel ranging signal based on an LEO satellite communication constellation

Driven by improvements in satellite internet and Low Earth Orbit(LEO)navigation augmenta-tion,the integration of communication and navigation has become increasingly common,and further improving navigation capabilities based on communication constellations has become a significant *** the context of the existing Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)communication systems,this paper proposes a new ranging signal design method based on an LEO satellite communication *** LEO Satellite Communication Constellation Block-type Pilot(LSCC-BPR)signal is superimposed on the com-munication signal in a block-type form and occupies some of the subcarriers of the OFDM signal for transmission,thus ensuring the continuity of the ranging pilot signal in the time and frequency *** estimation in the time and frequency domains is performed to obtain the relevant distance value,and the ranging accuracy and communication resource utilization rate are *** characterize the ranging performance,the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)is selected as an evaluation *** show that when the number of pilots is 2048 and the Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)is 0 dB,the ranging accuracy can reach 0.8 m,and the pilot occupies only 50%of the communication subcarriers,thus improving the utilization of communication resources and meeting the public demand for communication and location services.

Online Fault-Tolerant Tracking Control With Adaptive Critic for Nonaffine Nonlinear systems

In this paper, a fault-tolerant-based online critic learning algorithm is developed to solve the optimal tracking control issue for nonaffine nonlinear systems with actuator ***, a novel augmented plant is constructed by fusing the system state and the reference trajectory, which aims to transform the optimal fault-tolerant tracking control design with actuator faults into the optimal regulation problem of the conventional nonlinear error system. Subsequently, in order to ensure the normal execution of the online learning algorithm, a stability criterion condition is created to obtain an initial admissible tracking policy. Then, the constructed model neural network(NN) is pretrained to recognize the system dynamics and calculate trajectory control. The critic and action NNs are constructed to output the approximate cost function and approximate tracking control,respectively. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation of the error system is solved online through the action-critic framework. In theoretical analysis, it is proved that all concerned signals are uniformly ultimately bounded according to the Lyapunov *** tracking control law can approach the optimal tracking control within a finite approximation error. Finally, two experimental examples are conducted to indicate the effectiveness and superiority of the developed fault-tolerant tracking control scheme.

Design memristor-based computing-in-memory for AI accelerators considering the interplay between devices, circuits, and system

Recent advances in developing beyond von Neumann architectures have moved the memristive devices to the forefront as one of the key enablers to realizing memristive computing-in-memory(m CIM)structures, which shows a great promise to boost the energy-efficiency and the performance of artificial intelligence(AI) chips. In this study, by considering the interactions between devices, circuits, and systems in the m CIM design, we propose several cross-layer design techniques, including(1) the BL-SL interactive forming protection(BSIFP) circuit that can reduce the voltage drop on the selected transistor, suppress the current overshoot by 65.96%, and improve the bit-cell density by more than 10.19%,(2) the clamping transistor trimming scheme(CTTS) to prevent the multiply-and-accumulate(MAC) signal margin degradation from chip-to-chip resistance variations, and(3) dynamic input-parallelism and output-precision(DIPOP) that can reduce the energy cost by 22.92% in a typical inference task with negligible accuracy loss. The results demonstrate the significant role of the cross-layer-interactive approach and provide a preliminary guideline for highly-efficient m CIM design.

As a key biomarker for noninvasive diagnosis of diabetes,the selective detection of trace acetone in exhaled gas using a portable and low-cost device remains a great *** metal oxide(SMO)based gas sensors have drawn signification attention due to their potential in miniaturization,user-friendliness,high cost-effectiveness and selective real-time detection for noninvasive clinical ***,we propose a one-pot solvent evaporation induced tricomponent co-assembly strategy to design a novel ordered mesoporous SMO of silica-implanted WO_(3)(Si O_(2)/WO_(3))as sensing materials for trace acetone *** controlled co-assembly of silicon and tungsten precursors and amphiphilic diblock copolymer poly(ethylene oxide)-block-polystyrene(PEO-b-PS),and the subsequent thermal treatment enable the local lattice disorder of WO_(3)induced by the amorphous silica and the formation of ordered mesoporous Si O_(2)/WO_(3)hybrid walls with a unique metastableε-phase WO_(3)*** obtained mesoporous SiO_(2)/WO_(3)composites possess highly crystalline framework with large uniform pore size(12.0-13.3 nm),high surface area(99-113 m^(2)/g)and pore volume(0.17-0.23 cm^(3)/g).Typically,the asfabricated gas sensor based on mesoporous 2.5%Si O_(2)/WO_(3)exhibits rapid response/recovery rate(5/17 s),superior sensitivity(R_(air)/R_(gas)=105 for 50 ppm acetone),as well as high selectivity towards *** limit of detection is as low as 0.25 ppm,which is considerably lower than the thresh value of acetone concentration(>1.1 ppm)in the exhaled breath of diabetic patients,demonstrating its great prospect in real-time monitoring in diabetes ***,the mesoporous 2.5%Si O_(2)/WO_(3)sensor is integrated into a wireless sensing module connected to a smart phone,providing a convenient real-time detection of acetone.

Surface-PMSM Sensorless Control Strategy Based on Reduced-Order Linear Kalman Filter Cooperating with Prediction Error Rolling Compensation

Kalman filter (KF) is increasingly attracted for sensorless control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) due to its strong robustness against measurement and system noise. However, conventional method suffers from poor position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions, and high computational cost. In order to solve these problems, an enhanced sensorless control strategy based on reduced-order linear Kalman filter (RLKF) cooperating with prediction error rolling compensation is introduced in this paper. Differing from conventional method, a reduced-order linear state equation encompassing rotor position, speed and torque disturbance is constructed. Then, by obtaining the prediction error of system output using the motor current equation in the predictive reference frame, the optimal estimation of rotor position and speed in KF algorithm is achieved based on the reduced-order model. This not only simplifies the calculation process, but also enhances the position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions. Meanwhile, a prediction error rolling compensation algorithm is developed to minimize the estimation deviations caused by motor parameters variations. Additionally, the system's dynamic performance is further improved with an adopted speed controller based on torque disturbance feedforward and acceleration feedback. Finally, experimental results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.1 © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Impacts of Land–Atmosphere Coupling on Summer Extreme Hot-Humid Compound Events over Southern Eurasia under Different Sea Surface Temperature Backgrounds

Land–atmosphere coupling and sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies both have essential impacts on weather and climate *** on the ERA5 reanalysis dataset and the CESM1.2.2 model,this study investigates the influence of land–atmosphere coupling on summer extreme hot-humid events(EHHE)over southern Eurasia under different SST *** results suggest that coupling causes near-surface air temperature increases that exceed 0.5℃.From 1961 to 2020,the frequency of EHHE has continuously increased,and is closely related to soil moisture anomalies in the northern Indian Peninsula(IDP)and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River(YRB).Numerical simulations further demonstrate that land–atmosphere coupling raises the risk of EHHE by 25.4%.In a typical El Niño SST background state,intensified land–atmosphere coupling tends to produce notable increases in the frequency of *** dominant processes that land–atmosphere coupling affects the EHHE variations are evidently different between these two *** surface thermal anomalies predominate in the IDP,while moisture conditions are more critical in the *** warm SST anomalies exist,dry soil anomalies in the IDP are prominent,and evaporation is constrained,increasing sensible heat *** geopotential height anomalies are significant,combined with adiabatic warming induced by descending motion and a noticeable warm center in the near-surface *** southward shift of the westerly jet enhances divergence over *** anticyclonic circulation anomalies over the western Pacific are conducive to guiding moisture transport to the YRB,providing a favorable circulation background for the development of summer EHHE.
