Spatiotemporal variation of ecological environment quality and extreme climate drivers on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

Protecting the ecological security of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)is of great importance for global ecology and *** the past few decades,climate extremes have posed a significant challenge to the ecological environment of the ***,there are few studies that explored the effects of climate extremes on ecological environment quality of the QTP,and few researchers have made quantitative ***,this paper proposed the Ecological Environmental Quality Index(EEQI)for analyzing the spatial and temporal variation of ecological environment quality on the QTP from 2000 to 2020,and explored the effects of climate extremes on EEQI based on Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression(GTWR)*** results showed that the ecological environment quality in QTP was poor in the west,but good in the *** 2000 and 2020,the area of EEQI variation was large(34.61%of the total area),but the intensity of EEQI variation was relatively low and occurred mainly by a slightly increasing level(EEQI change range of 0.05-0.1).The overall ecological environment quality of the QTP exhibited spatial and temporal fluctuations,which may be attributed to climate *** spatial heterogeneity was observed in the effects of the climate extremes on ecological environment ***,the effects of daily temperature range(DTR),number of frost days(FD0),maximum 5-day precipitation(RX5day),and moderate precipitation days(R10)on ecological environment quality were positive in most ***,there were significant temporal differences in the effects of consecutive dry days(CDD),consecutive wet days(CWD),R10,and FD0 on ecological environment *** differences may be attributed to variances in ecological environment quality,climate extremes,and vegetation types across different *** conclusion,the impact of climate extremes on ecological environment quality exhibits complex *** findings will assist managers in iden

Nonequilibrium carrier and phonon dynamics in the ferrimagnetic semiconductor Mn3Si2Te6

We investigate the ultrafast carrier and phonon dynamics in the ferrimagnetic semiconductor Mn3Si2Te6 using time-resolved optical pump-probe spectroscopy. Our results reveal that the electron-phonon thermalization process with a subpicosecond timescale is prolonged by the hot-phonon bottleneck effect. We identify the subsequent relaxation processes associated with two nonradiative recombination mechanisms, i.e., phonon-assisted electron-hole recombination and defect-related Shockley-Read-Hall recombination. Temperature-dependent measurements indicate that all three relaxation components show large variation around 175 and 78 K, which is related to the initiation of spin fluctuation and ferrimagnetic order in Mn3Si2Te6. In addition, two pronounced coherent optical phonons are observed, in which the phonon with a frequency of 3.7 THz is attributed to the A1g mode of Te precipitates. Applying the strain pulse propagation model to the coherent acoustic phonons yields a penetration depth of 506 nm and a sound speed of 2.42 km/s in Mn3Si2Te6. Our results develop understanding of the nonequilibrium properties of the ferrimagnetic semiconductor Mn3Si2Te6 and also shed light on its potential applications in optoelectronic and spintronic devices.

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer with fixed and adaptive modulation

Activating Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) in Radio-Frequency (RF) to provide on-demand energy supply to widely deployed Internet of Everything devices is a key to the next-generation energy self-sustainable 6G network. However, Simultaneous Wireless information and Power Transfer (SWIPT) in the same RF bands is challenging. The majority of previous studies compared SWIPT performance to Gaussian signaling with an infinite alphabet, which is impossible to implement in any realistic communication system. In contrast, we study the SWIPT system in a well-known Nakagami-m wireless fading channel using practical modulation techniques with finite alphabet. The attainable rate-energy-reliability tradeoff and the corresponding rationale are revealed for fixed modulation schemes. Furthermore, an adaptive modulation-based transceiver is provided for further expanding the attainable rate-energy-reliability region based on various SWIPT performances of different modulation schemes. The modulation switching thresholds and transmit power allocation at the SWIPT transmitter and the power splitting ratios at the SWIPT receiver are jointly optimized to maximize the attainable spectrum efficiency of wireless information transfer while satisfying the WPT requirement and the instantaneous and average BER constraints. Numerical results demonstrate the SWIPT performance of various fixed modulation schemes in different fading conditions. The advantage of the adaptive modulation-based SWIPT transceiver is validated.

With the ongoing integration of distributed energy resources, modern distribution systems are getting sufficient generation capacity to perform active restoration after outages without transmission system support. The model-based approaches are widely used in resolving service restoration problems, relying on accurate system models. Deep reinforcement learning is believed as an alternative solution for problem solving, although it has not been sufficiently explored. In this article, the service restoration process is described as a partially observable Markov decision process and a multiagent graph reinforcement learning approach based on attention is proposed to train multiple agents to coachieve the restoration goal to reinforce the system resilience in coping with extreme events. To consider the connections and correlations between nodes during the service restoration, the state of the active distribution network is defined by graph data that contains features of both topology and nodes. The perceived ability of the agents is empowered by graph convolutional networks during the feature extraction, supplying agents with more comprehensive data to learn more reasonable restoration strategies. In addition, the centralized training with attention is developed for multiagent systems, focusing on the relations between the agents to strengthen the teamwork capability. The performance of the proposed method is verified by a set of comparative studies on the IEEE-118 system with dispatchable generators, rooftop photovoltaics, and energy storage systems simultaneously. © 2023 IEEE.

In a centralized control architecture, wind farms often require the participation of wind turbines when facing voltage drops at the grid connection point or a lack of reactive power support. However, if wind turbines directly participate in reactive power support, the delay in solving reactive power commands can result in a lag in the response of the wind farm. The control layer of the wind farm responds slowly when achieving optimization goals, failing to meet the response speed requirements needed by the higher-level control. Additionally, this delay increases with the scale of the wind farm, further exacerbating the lag in responding to grid dispatch instructions. This paper proposes a control strategy for wind farms to rapidly respond to grid dispatch instructions. Upon receiving a grid dispatch instruction, reactive power compensation devices are prioritized to quickly provide reactive power. Once the system stabilizes, the reactive power compensation tasks are transferred to the wind turbines. A simulation model of a real wind farm is established in Matlab/Simulink to verify that the proposed control strategy can effectively improve the response speed of the wind farm. © 2024 IEEE.
