An approach for formation design and flight performance prediction based on aerodynamic formation unit:Energy-saving considerations

The performance improvement of swarm drones through aerodynamic shape optimization may be challenging due to folded size constraints imposed by the specific launch ***,fixed-wing aircraft swarms can benefit from formation flight in terms of energy *** study introduces the concept of the"aerodynamic formation unit",which consists of two or three aircraft that form an inseparable unit of the *** the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)distribution and wingtip vortex interference in the formation,two typical aerodynamic formation units are optimized by the variable-fidelity aerodynamic optimization method based on space *** aerodynamic characteristics of the formation UAVs that affect flight performance,such as lift-to-drag ratio(L/D ratio)and static stability are analyzed by Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)*** L/D ratio(cruising condition)of the following aircraft can be increased by 22.8%and 57.5%in the optimal units that involve two and three aircraft ***,this study conducts several CFD simulations for multi-aircraft formations formed by the units,which show that the average L/D ratio of the formation can be improved by more than 19%.These results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the"aerodynamic formation unit"concept and the optimization framework for formation parameters.

Next-generation advanced high/pulsed power capacitors urgently require dielectric materials with outstanding energy storage ***_(0.5)Na_(0.5)TiO_(3)-based lead-free materials exhibit high polarization,but the high remanent polarization and large polarization hysteresis limit their applications in dielectric ***,high-entropy perovskite relaxor ferroelectrics(Na_(0.2)Bi_(0.2)Ba_(0.2)Sr_(0.2)Ca_(0.2))(Ti1-x%Zrx%)O_(3)are designed by adding multiple ions in the A-site and replacing the B-site Ti^(4+)with a certain amount of Zr^(4+).The newly designed system showed high relaxor feature and slim polarization-electric(P-E)***,improved relaxor feature and obviously delayed polarization saturation were found with the increasing of Zr^(4+).Of particular importance is that both high recoverable energy storage density of 6.6 J/cm^(3) and energy efficiency of 93.5%were achieved under 550 kV/cm for the ceramics of x=6,accompanying with excellent frequency stability,appreciable thermal stability,and prosperous discharge *** work not only provides potential dielectric materials for energy storage applications,but also offers an effective strategy to obtain dielectric ceramics with ultrahigh comprehensive energy storage performance to meet the demanding requirements of advanced energy storage applications.

Multi-level Multi-task representation learning with adaptive fusion for multimodal sentiment analysis

Multimodal sentiment analysis is an active task in multimodal intelligence, which aims to compute the user’s sentiment tendency from multimedia data. Generally, each modality is a specific and necessary perspective to express human sentiment, providing complementary and consensus information unavailable in a single modality. Nevertheless, the heterogeneous multimedia data often contain inconsistent and conflicting sentiment semantics that limits the model performance. In this work, we propose a Multi-level Multi-task Representation Learning with Adaptive Fusion (MuReLAF) network to bridge the semantic gap among different modalities. Specifically, we design a modality adaptive fusion block to adjust modality contributions dynamically. Besides, we build a multi-level multimodal representations framework to obtain modality-specific and modality-shared semantics by the multi-task learning strategy, where modality-specific semantics contain complementary information and modality-shared semantics include consensus information. Extensive experiments are conducted on four publicly available datasets: MOSI, MOSEI, SIMS, and SIMSV2(s), demonstrating that our model exhibits superior or comparable performance to state-of-the-art models. The achieved accuracies are 86.28%, 86.07%, 84.46%, and 82.78%, respectively, showcasing improvements of 0.82%, 0.84%, 1.75%, and 1.83%. Further analyses also indicate the effectiveness of our model in sentiment analysis. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

The implementation and simulation of the NLMS adaptive filter are studied. Because robotic milling has become an important means for machining significant large parts,obtaining the structural frequency response function(FRF)of a milling robot is an important basis for machining process ***,because of its articulated serial structure,a milling robot has an enormous number of operating postures,and its dynamics are affected by the motion *** accurately obtain the FRF in the operating state of a milling robot,this paper proposes a method based on the structural modification *** the traditional excitation method,the proposed method uses robot joint motion excitation instead of hammering excitation to realize *** address the problem of the lack of information brought by motion excitation,which leads to inaccurate FRF amplitudes,this paper derives the milling robot regularization theory based on the sensitivity of structural modification,establishes the modal regularization factor,and calibrates the FRF *** to the commonly used manual hammering experiments,the proposed method has high accuracy and reliability when the milling robot is in different *** the measurement can be performed directly and automatically in the operation state,and the problem of inaccurate amplitudes is solved,the proposed method provides a basis for optimizing the machining posture of a milling robot and improving machining efficiency.

This paper describes a multi target drug design method based on features of the target proteins. The multi target drug which inhibit multiple proteins have prospective applications, but design is difficult. In this study, the target protein sequences are embedded to obtain target features. The features of each target are independently encoded as target latent vectors, and the features of multiple targets are jointly encoded as target similarity latent vectors. Based on the features of targets and the similarity features among the targets, multi target drugs are efficiently designed. In the experiments, the designed multi target drugs can be docked with target proteins with a proprietary molecular structure according to the requirements of different target pocket structures. The excellent fitness among the molecular structure of multi target drugs and the protein structure of multiple targets confirms the performance of the proposed method. In the molecular docking part of the experi¬ments, the binding affinity of designed multi target drugs is far better than that in the previous studies, which administrates the better performance of this work. © 2024 IEEE.

Nonlocal inverse design of an ultrasonic lens for underwater manipulation of orbital angular momentum

Acoustic orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams hold potential for underwater communications, particle manipulation, and biomedical applications. However, adapting air-based OAM technologies to the underwater environment presents unique challenges. In the underwater environment, the medium cannot be considered acoustically soft, and commonly used ultrasound frequencies have shorter wavelengths compared with air, necessitating new design approaches. Conventional underwater ultrasonic lens design methods often rely on simplified models that neglect nonlocal interactions and diffraction within the structure, therefore leading to suboptimal performance. We introduce a novel nonlocal inverse design method by integrating the full-wave models with the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). This approach diverges from conventional phase-based design by optimizing the physical structure of the lens to account for nonlocal interactions within the material. We experimentally demonstrate the performance when generating high-purity OAM beams underwater. Our experimental results show that this method can generate high-purity OAM beams underwater, achieving over 90% purity for the OAM beams of topological charges from m = 1 to m = 4. This is a significant improvement compared with traditional methods, which typically reach 70–89% purity. These findings highlight the practical applicability of our method for nonlocally designing the ultrasonic lens, paving the way for advancements in beam performance for various applications.

Acoustic logic networks realized with non-Hermitian and nonlocal metagratings

This paper proposes the concept and demonstrates the realization of acoustic logic networks (ALNs), a system that performs various logic operations using sound waves. Unlike traditional systems with separate components, ALNs integrate multiple logic functionalities with a single platform, performing operations like and, or, and xor gates, similar to those used in electronic computers. The design of ALNs leverages the non-Hermitian and nonlocal metagratings. By considering the intricate nonlocal interaction within the structure, the metagratings are designed to operate at exceptional points (EPs) to achieve the desired logic functions. Two metagratings are cascaded to construct the acoustic logic module (ALM), which acts as the basic building block of an ALN. The effectiveness of ALNs is confirmed through theoretical calculations, numerical simulations, and experiments. We demonstrate the ability to perform complex logic operations and realize various multichannel computing functions with the ALN of different configurations. These results showcase precise control over sound waves and significantly enhanced computing capabilities. The proposed ALNs represent a significant step forward in acoustic computing. This technology has the potential to revolutionize fields where traditional electronic computing might be impractical due to size, energy efficiency, or environmental limitations.

In two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials, the interplay between magnetism and electron correlation can give rise to new ground states and lead to novel transport and optical properties. A fundamental question in these materials is how the electron correlation manifests and interacts with the magnetic orders. In this study, we demonstrate that the recently discovered 2D antiferromagnetic material, Cr SBr is a Mott insulator, through the combined use of resonant and temperature-dependent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy techniques, supplemented by dynamical mean-field theory analysis. Intriguingly,we found that as the system transitions from the antiferromagnetic to the paramagnetic phases, its Mott bands undergo a reconfiguration, and a coherent-incoherent crossover, driven by the dissolution of the magnetic order. Our findings reveal a distinctive evolution of band structure associated with magnetic phase transitions, shedding light on the investigation of the intricate interplay between correlation and magnetic orders in strongly correlated van der Waals magnetic materials.
