The liquid hydrogen superconducting magnetic energy storage (LIQHYSMES) is an emerging hybrid energy storage device for improving the power quality in the new-type power system with a high proportion of renewable energy. It combines the superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) for the short-term buffering and the use of liquid hydrogen as both the bulk energy carrier and coolant. The storage tank is the core component of LIQHYSMES where the energy and matter are coupled. Therefore, this paper proposes the size design model for the storage tank in order to minimize the whole costs of LIQHYSMES. The thermal interactions between the SMES and hydrogen of both charging and discharging states are explicitly analyzed through the proposed model. Particularly, the phase transition of hydrogen in the storage tank, the charging state and thermal effect of SMES and the control strategy of electricity-hydrogen devices are modelled. Finally, case studies verified the effectiveness of the proposed model and the parameters of the storage tank are given. © 2023 IEEE.

Under weak grids, the output impedance of grid-connected inverter is coupled with the grid impedance, leading to poor quality of the grid current. To address this issue, the symmetrical phase-locked loop (PLL) has been proposed which can eliminate the frequency coupling and attribute the system model to be symmetrical. Although the system performances well under steady state, the characteristics of the inverter is unclear under non-ideal conditions at present. In this article, by investigating the inverter performance with the symmetrical PLL under different grid conditions, it is founded that both the dynamic and steady-state characteristics become worse compared to that with synchronous reference frame (SRF) PLL. The experiments validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

To deal with the icing of overhead lines caused by frequent ice disasters, this subject proposes a new uninterruptible electric ice-melting technology for distribution network. The deicing device is composed of adjustable reactor and earthing transformer. The head end of the device is connected to the substation power supply through a transformer, and the end is short-circuited with one-phase line in the ice- covered section through a ground wire to form a zero-sequence circuit, so as to provide zero-sequence current to the line to be deiced online to make the line heat up and melt the ice to achieve deicing without power outage. After the article puts forward this scheme, the model was built in Maxwell 3D software for verification, and the ice melting test is carried out on the pilot line, which proves the feasibility of this scheme. © 2023 IEEE.

Modeling the process of the static magnetic hysteresis accurately is essential to compute the magnetic fields of electrical devices and components, and a modified static hysteresis model based on Tellinen hysteresis model is presented and verified in this paper. Only two measured ascending curves are needed to solve this static model, rather than the limiting loop, which is friendly to measuring device. By comparing the measured static hysteresis curves with the calculated static hysteresis curves, it is found that the static model shows good efficiency and accuracy, and the error caused by Tellinen hysteresis model itself could be negligible when the two measured curves the model demands are close to the curve to be computed. © 2023 IEEE.

Controllable reactors (CR) are general FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) apparatuses, which have played a crucial role in improving the power flow distribution of the system, adjusting the reactive power balance of the power grid, stabilizing the voltage, and improving the stability of the system. This paper summarizes the characteristics of various types of controllable reactors, classifies reactors with different structures, and compares different controllable reactors from the perspectives of reactance change, response speed, harmonic problem, and control accuracy. A transformer-type controllable reactor based on flux compensation is proposed, the design scheme of secondary side multi-winding is adopted to realize the large-capacity reactor, the unity of single control winding and multi-control winding in the application is expanded, and the general principle of controllable reactor is obtained through the control of the 'linear two-port network' port, and the design principle of such reactor is summarized. © 2023 IEEE.

Seawater electrolysis is a highly promising method to produce high energy density hydrogen,especially in dry areas that have scarce freshwater ***,application of seawater electrolysis is confronted by two major problems associated with catalysts employed for the anodic oxygen evolution reaction（OER） including the competitive hypochlorite evolution reaction（HCER） and strong chloridion（Cl-） triggered *** studies aimed at overcoming these problems,a facile method has been developed to synthesize a homologous CoS2heterojunction as an OER *** to a difference in work functions at the interface and increased electron density,this material has directed electron transfer and strong chloridion repulsion properties,*** have shown that CoS2achieves low overpotentials of 289 and 322 mV at 10 mA cm-2current density in respective alkaline（1 M KOH） and alkaline simulated seawater ***,the outstanding stability of CoS2is reflected in a negligible decline in activity during promotion of the OER for 100 *** of density functional theory calculations reveal that the homologous CoS2heterojunction promotes directed electron transport for optimizing adsorption/desorption of reactive species and heightens the Cl-adsorption energy for strongly repulsing Cl-,phenomena that enhance OER performance in alkaline simulated seawater.

The insulated core transformer (ICT) electron accelerator plays an important role in the field of irradiation processing in the low energy region. ICT is a crucial component of the electron irradiation accelerator system, whose performance directly determines the beam quality. ICT features a compact structure and high power. Its energy loss during operation leads to significant temperature elevation generally. Simultaneously, the ICT's unique segmented core structure makes its power loss uneven, leading to disparate temperature distributions. Eventually, the operational efficiency of ICT will be limited. Therefore, it is important to predict the location and temperature of hotspot quickly and accurately in the initial design of ICT. In this paper, a modeling method of lumped parameter thermal network model based on the unique structure of ICT is proposed. The accuracy and efficiency of the thermal network model calculation are validated through multi-physics coupling finite element simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

We report a combined method of using atmospheric surface micro-discharge (SMD) with UVA exposure to provide a fast and efficient method against eye infection pathogens. 4 kinds of typical eye infection bacteria were chosen and treated under SMD treatment only, UVA exposure only and 5min SMD treatment followed by 1 or 2 min UVA exposure in buffered solution. The combination of plasma treatment and UVA exposure presented the best antibacterial effect, especially for the UV-resistant bacteria strain, Serratia marcescens. This synergetic method has been found to have no selectivity on bacterium type. The possible mechanism of the synergetic effects was preliminarily proved to be caused mainly by photodecomposition of nitrite. UVA photolysis analysis of pure nitrite, H2O2 solution and their mixture indicated the formation of peroxynitrite in buffered solution partly contributed to the anti-bacterial effect in this work. © 2023 IEEE.

The core earth current (CEC) is composed of a variety of components, some of which can reflect the health status of power transformers, such as the power frequency and its harmonic components can reflect power transformer core grounding state and core saturation degree, and some pulse components can reflect partial discharge in power transformers. Some high-frequency components can reflect the external shock (very fast transient overvoltage, lighting, etc.) suffered by power transformers. There are also some noise components introduced by ambient environment and measurement system. The existing CEC monitoring devices focus on part of the components, such as the power frequency and its harmonic components or partial discharge pulse component. Both devices are difficult to catch all anomalies in CEC. A current transformer (10Hz-200kHz) is used to sense CEC continuously to catch all abnormal waveforms in CEC. In order to extract the pulse components in CEC, a denoising scheme based on mathematical morphological (MM) filter and wavelet shrinkage is devoted. MM filter can suppress the low frequency component while maintaining the integrity of pulse components. For the purpose of filtering out the white noise in the signal and preserve the complete pulse waveform as much as possible, a new wavelet selection method that the optimum wavelet at each level is selected as the one maximizing the energy ratio of detailed coefficients beside and inside the range formed by the threshold is devoted. Simulated data and field data are used to compare several different wavelet selection methods, and the experimental results show that the pulse distortion extracted by this method is smaller than other methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Low-energy electron curtain accelerators are widely used in the field of radiation processing. In this paper, the model of the cathode emission assembly of the multi-filament electron curtain accelerator is established by CST simulation software, and the influence of the duty ratio and grid width of the semi-cylindrical control grid on the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly is explored. It is found that the larger the duty ratio of the control grid and the wider the mesh grid width, the emission current and the current drawn at control grid increase. Especially when the width of mesh grid reaches 3mm, the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly no longer conform to the three-half law. The research work in this paper has reference significance for the construction and design of cathode assembly. © 2024 IEEE.
