Electrically driven structural patterns in liquid crystals(LCs)have attracted considerable attention due to their electrooptical ***,we disclose various appealing reconfigurable LC microstructures in a dual frequency nematic LC(DFNLC)owing to the electroconvection-induced distortion of the LC director,including one-dimensional rolls,chevron pattern,two-dimensional grids,and unstable *** patterns can be switched among each other,and the lattice constants are modulated by tuning the amplitude and frequency of the applied electric *** electrically switchable self-assembled microstructures and their beam steering capabilities thus provide a feasible way to tune the functions of DFNLC-based optical devices.

The operation of silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor devices under high ambient temperature requires high temperature gate drivers adjacent to the devices. This paper presents a three-phase isolated gate driver circuit suitable for HybridPACK Drive (HP Drive) power modules with operating ambient temperature up to 175°C. First, an overall introduction of the gate driver structure and layout design method for reducing thermal coupling are presented. Second, detailed designs are presented in the form of sub-circuits such as desaturation protection circuit, isolated power supply, active Miller clamp, undervoltage lockout and so on. Finally, the proposed gate driver design is validated through double pulse test, continuous full-load operation under 145°C and continuous light-load test under 175°C. Comprehensive performance evaluation of proposed high temperature gate driver is presented.

A method to obtain the optical constants of low loss materials in a wide frequency range was proposed based on the measured transmission data from THz-TDS and FTIR. With anchoring phase points from TDS, the phase spectrum lost in FTIR original data was successfully retrieved and the complex refractive index was acquired with standard iterative method (Nelder-Mead and Newton-Raphson). As an example, the refractive index and extinction coefficient of HRSi were extracted from 0.5 to 10 THz with both iterative method and analytic formula. Good agreement between TDS and FTIR results in the overlapped frequency range was realized.

The misfolding of amyloid-β(Aβ) peptides from the natural unfolded state to β-sheet structure is a critical step, leading to abnormal fibrillation and formation of endogenous Aβ plaques in Alzheimer's disease(AD). Previous studies have reported inhibition of Aβ fibrillation or disassembly of exogenous Aβ fibrils in vitro. However, soluble Aβ oligomers have been reported with increased cytotoxicity; this might partly explain why current clinical trials targeting disassembly of Aβ fibrils by anti-Aβ antibodies have failed so *** we show that Au23(CR)14(a new Au nanocluster modified by Cys-Arg(CR) dipeptide) is able to completely dissolve exogenous mature Aβ fibrils into monomers and restore the natural unfolded state of Aβ peptides from misfolded β-sheets. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity of Aβ40fibrils when dissolved by Au23(CR)14is fully abolished. More importantly, Au23(CR)14is able to completely dissolve endogenous Aβ plaques in brain slices from transgenic AD model mice. In addition, Au23(CR)14has good biocompatibility and infiltration ability across the blood–brain barrier. Taken together, this work presents a promising therapeutics candidate for AD treatment, and manifests the potential of nanotechnological approaches in the development of nanomedicines.
