Hydrogen can serve as a carrier to store renewable energy in large ***,hydrogen storage still remains a challenge in the current *** is difficult to meet the technical requirements applying the conventional storage of compressed gaseous hydrogen in high-pressure tanks or the solid-state storage of hydrogen in suitable *** the present work,a gaseous and solid-state(G-S)hybrid hydrogen storage system with a low working pressure below 5 MPa for a 10 kW hydrogen energy storage experiment platform is developed and validated.A Ti-Mn type hydrogen storage alloy with an effective hydrogen capacity of 1.7 wt%was prepared for the G-S hybrid hydrogen storage *** G-S hybrid hydrogen storage tank has a high volumetric hydrogen storage density of 40.07 kg H_(2)m^(-3) and stores hydrogen under pressure below5 *** can readily release enough hydrogen at a temperature as low as-15C when the FC system is not fully activated and hot water is not *** energy storage efficiency of this G-S hybrid hydrogen storage system is calculated to be 86.4%-95.9%when it is combined with an FC *** work provides a method on how to design a G-S hydrogen storage system based on practical demands and demonstrates that the G-S hybrid hydrogen storage is a promising method for stationary hydrogen storage application.

This paper quantifies the yearly performance degradation in industrial Alkaline Water Electrolysis (AWE), focusing on iron electrodeposition reaction (IER) as the primary degradation mechanism throughout the AWE lifecycle. The IER-induced degradation mechanism impacts hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) materials and membrane porosity, resulting in increased HER activation and membrane ohmic overpotential. To quantitatively assess the effects of IER on AWE performance, a multiphysics model is developed and experimentally validated, demonstrating a predictive accuracy within ±3% relative error. Notably, the model calculations highlight the initial linear slow growth of IER-induced performance degradation, followed by rapid voltage increase due to accumulated iron deposition in the later stages. The findings suggest that timely replacement of affected electrode material and membrane, along with optimized electrolyte management and lifecycle current density operation strategies, can enhance the economic viability of AWE systems. Additionally, the paper includes an economic analysis of operational and maintenance strategies, contributing valuable insights into optimizing the sustainability of industrial hydrogen production. This comprehensive approach offers valuable guidance for optimizing AWE systems in industrial applications. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this study, the microstructure and deformation mechanisms of selective laser melted GTD222 and TiC/GTD222 composite were studied. The results show that the TiC/GTD222 composite has finer grains and more precipitation phases. Meanwhile, TiC/GTD222 composite has higher yield strength both at room and high temperatures, which can be mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of the TiC strengthening and γ′ strengthening. The deformation mechanisms of TiC/GTD222 composite at 800 °C were identified as isolated stacking faults shearing the γ′ phase, continuous stacking faults shearing the γ and γ′ phases, dislocations cutting the γ′ phase, and dislocation slip within the γ matrix. This study provides insights for understanding the influence of TiC particles on the deformation mechanisms of additive manufactured nickel-based alloys. © 2023, The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.

Electroencephalography (EEG)-based emotion recognition is a potential research direction in the field of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). However, its deployment on wearable devices still suffers from the challenges of low accuracy, heavy computation, and complex electrode placement. This study focuses on advancing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of EEG-based BCIs for emotion recognition. Our approach begins with an investigation of electrode placement in relation to emotion detection, leveraging the SEED dataset to identify an optimal configuration that uses a minimal number of electrodes while maintaining high recognition accuracy. Employing a variety of machine learning and deep learning algorithms, we compare detection accuracy across different electrode combinations. Through these experiments and subsequent analysis, we identify an effective combination of two electrodes, T7 and T8, with the SVM method achieving an impressive 92.8 % accuracy. This finding laid the foundation for the design of our wearable, closed-loop BCI device with EEG-based emotion recognition capability. © 2024 IEEE.

For the automatic reclosing of power system under renewable energy source access, the current practice is usually to cut off the renewable energy source or block the reclosing gate after a fault occurs. This will lead to the shutdown of the renewable energy source and the interruption of power supply to a large number of local loads, which is not conducive to the safe operation of the grid and the efficient utilization of the renewable energy source. In this paper, a fast reclosing method is proposed for substation lines with inverter-type renewable energy source access, which can ensure the power supply of important loads and make the renewable energy source stable during the reclosing period without going off-grid. Firstly, it is pointed out that the inverter-type renewable energy source is switched to VSG-control during the reclosing period, so that it has the basic islanding operation capability. Then the method of load shedding with the startup of unloading resistor during the reclosing period is proposed to ensure the power balance between the new energy power and the loads. Next, adjusting the rated frequency of the renewable energy source to accelerate the simultaneous process, which can speed up the whole reclosing process. Finally, the simulations under different working conditions are carried out on the PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the feasibility of the proposed reclosing strategy.

Vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircrafts are characterized by large flight envelopes and significant variations in flight operational conditions, making the analysis of flight envelopes and the design of controllers inherent challenges. This study focused on a tilt-body VTOL aircraft, analyzing its longitudinal flight envelope, namely transition corridors. It demonstrated that the tilt-body have a broad flight envelope and designed a longitudinal flight controller based on transition corridor trimming and total energy control theory. The theoretical approach was validated through simulation, achieving full-speed range level flight control and effective longitudinal flight control for the tilt-body. Simulation results show that this method can compensate for nonlinearities in the model and exhibits robustness, allowing the tilt-body aircraft to demonstrate excellent flight performance during transition flight. This research provides valuable insights and guidance for the analysis and control of a class of VTOL aircraft, particularly significant for the design of new VTOL configurations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

With the development of the Internet, many log data are generated in the server. How to ensure the security of log data in the server is a problem that needs to be solved. At present, log data storage in most servers relies on a centralized log database or local files. With the increase of running time and scale, there are great challenges in data security and stability. Meanwhile, attackers can tamper with the server's logs to evade tracking. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a secure multi-level log data storage system based on permissioned blockchain and permission-less blockchain, with high throughput and low cost. In addition, different encryption methods are adopted for different levels of log data to provide higher security. © 2022 SPIE. All rights reserved.

The combustion of polyamide 6 (PA6) fabrics releases toxic smoke, which will pollute the environment and threaten human life and health. Herein, a novel eco-friendly flame-retardant coating was constructed and applied to PA6 fabrics. Needle-like β-FeOOH with a high surface area was firstly constructed onto the surface of PA6 fabrics by the hydrolysis of Fe3+, sulfamic acid (SA) was then introduced by a facile dipping and nipping method. The growth of β-FeOOH also endowed the PA6 fabrics with certain hydrophilicity and moisture permeability, resulting in improved comfortability. The limiting oxygen index (LOI) of the prepared PA6/Fe/6SA sample was increased to 27.2% from 18.5% of control PA6 sample, and the damaged length was reduced to only 6.0 cm from 12.0 cm of control PA6 sample. Meanwhile, the melt dripping was also eliminated. The heat release rate and total heat release values of the PA6/Fe/6SA sample were decreased to 318.5 kW/m2 and 17.0 MJ/m2, respectively, compared with those of control PA6 (494.7 kW/m2 and 21.4 MJ/m2). The analysis results indicated that nonflammable gases diluted flammable gases. The observation of char residues demonstrated that the stable char layer was formed, which effectively inhibited the transfer of heat and oxygen. The organic solvent-free coating does not contain any conventional halogens/phosphorus elements, which provides a useful methodology to produce environmentally friendly flame-retardant fabrics. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Delayed Recrystallization Behavior and Deformation Mechanism of In738lc Alloy Prepared by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

The design and development of heat treatment regimes adapted to the L-PBFed alloy for specific service conditions have become a hot topic of research in the field of AM. This paper systematically studies the microstructure changes of the L-PBFed IN738LC alloy, solution treatment at 1250 °C for various durations (1 h, 3 h, 5 h), then aging at 850 °C for 24 h, using XRD, EBSD, SEM, STEM and EDS. The analysis focuses on the delayed recrystallization behavior of the alloy and discusses the selective precipitation rule of the M23C6 carbide on different types of grain boundaries during recrystallization. Additionally, the tensile deformation mechanism of the alloy before and after heat treatment is clarified. The results show that due to the pinning of carbide particles and the segregation of solute atoms, the migration and transformation of grain boundaries under the condition of 1250 °C/1 h are hindered during the initial stage of solid solution treatment, which accounts for the delayed recrystallization behavior, and the microstructure is mainly experiencing recovery. At 1250 °C/5 h, M23C6 carbides selectively precipitate at twin boundaries, accompanied by recrystallization. The samples treated at 1250 °C/1 h exhibit the highest yield strength (σYS=1305±21 MPa) and tensile strength (σUTS=1462±11 MPa) owing to the precipitation of γ′ phase. Moreover, the presence of sub-grain boundaries provides some plasticity (ΕEL=5.4±0.7%). The deformation mechanism shows that the as-built samples mainly experience planar dislocations slipping, while the heat-treated samples undergo stacking faults (SFs) shearing and anti-phase boundaries (APB) shearing. The dominant mechanism among these is APB shearing. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
