In this manuscript, the epoxy composite materials were modified with boron nitride and alumina complex micron fillers. It could be observed that the epoxy composite materials with Al2O3 and BN mixture fillers could own high thermal conductivity. Specifically, the thermal conductivity of epoxy composite materials with 67%Al 2 O 3 and 3%BN reached 1.7 W7(m•k). With 5% of BN, agglomeration of its sheets would happen in the matrix which leads to decreasing of the thermal conductivity. Moreover, the mixing of 67%Al 2 O 3 particles and 3%BN micron sheets could increase the insulating strength comparing to the pure Al 2 O 3 . Thus, the epoxy composites with 67%Al 2 O 3 and 3%BN have high thermal conductivity and good insulation performance.

Insulator contamination directly threatens the safe and stable operation of the overhead line. Through spatial electric field monitoring, it is expected to realize insulator pollution condition monitoring and contamination flashover warning in a non-contact way. So in this paper, the spatial electric field distribution characteristics of 110 kV composite insulators are simulated, where the effects of different surface states and their discharge levels on the spatial electric field of insulators are analyzed. On this basis, a non-contact monitoring method for composite insulator pollution based on the spatial electric field is proposed. The results show that there are significant differences in the spatial electric field of the composite insulator among three conditions of clean, pollution layer wetting, and dry band arcing. With the increase of pollution layer wetting and dry band arcing, it would lead to an increase of the amplitude of the spatial electric field of the insulator. It is feasible to identify the degree of pollution layer wetting as well as dry band arcing of the insulator string, by fixed-point monitoring the spatial electric field signal at the cross-strand of d = 0.5 m and directly opposite the last three positions. Research results can provide references for the online monitoring of overhead line pollution insulators and its flashover warning. © 2020 IEEE.

Distributionally robust frequency constrained low-carbon scheduling considering flexibility of carbon capture power plants

The large-scale integration of renewable energy source (RES) and the adoption of carbon capture technologies provide enhanced economic benefits and flexibility in scheduling low-carbon power systems (LCPS). However, this is accompanied by concerns regarding the significant uncertainty associated with RES and the frequency stability of LCPS. This paper proposes a distributionally robust frequency constrained low-carbon scheduling (DRFC-LCS) method, achieving coordinated optimization of coal-fired power plants (CFPP), carbon capture power plants (CCPP), energy storage systems (ESS), and RES within LCPS, ensuring post-disturbance frequency security while minimizing economic costs and carbon emissions. The dynamic frequency response of LCPS following a power imbalance is analyzed, incorporating frequency support from various generation resources into the frequency constraints. The complex frequency nadir constraint is converted into a linear surrogate expression using a support vector machine (SVM). A sample-independent distributionally robust chance-constrained (DRCC) method based on the Wasserstein metric is introduced to manage the dual uncertainties associated with RES in power generation and primary frequency response (PFR) reserve provision. The effectiveness of the DRFC-LCS method is validated using the IEEE-39 bus and IEEE-118 bus test systems. Results indicate that incorporating frequency constraints in the scheduling of LCPS is crucial, and fully utilizing the regulation capacity of CCPP ensures secure operation of LCPS while delivering significant economic benefits.

To improve the ultrasonic detection’s sensitivity and positioning accuracy for partial discharge, reduce the attenuation of the ultrasonic signal received by the sensor, a small oil-filled tank platform was built and the ultrasonic signal propagation characteristics in transformer oil were studied based on this platform. The attenuation of ultrasonic signals at various frequencies under different distances, the barrier of insulating cardboard, and the barrier of winding are studied separately. The signal amplitude of 180kHz is attenuated to 6% of the amplitude of the reference position at the maximum experimental distance. The 200kHz signal is attenuated to less than 10% of the reference amplitude under the barrier of the insulating cardboard. Signals above 60kHz are attenuated to less than 20% of the reference amplitude when the winding is blocked. According to the research in this paper, the attenuation of high-frequency ultrasonic signals in transformer oil is stronger than that of low-frequency ultrasonic signals. This study provides a reference for the selection of the center frequency of the transformer built-in sensor and the layout of the sensor array.

In order to solve the problems of low efficiency of analysis and evaluation and non-standard standards caused by offline collection and offline calculation methods of distribution network planning data for a long time, this paper designs an electrical analysis and calculation module of integrated power grid planning, including electrical calculation model modeling, electrical calculation algorithm and electrical calculation application. Application example shows that the proposed electrical calculation module has good practicability, and can support the daily work of planning such as current grid diagnosis and analysis, future grid planning, and grid verification.

The harmonic resonance and instability problems become prominent in recent years with the development and application of modular multilevel converter (MMC) based HVDC system. The impedance model of MMC can be used to facilitate the analysis of harmonic stability and the design of mitigation method. In this paper, the accurate dc impedance model of MMC is firstly derived based on harmonic state space (HSS) method. The internal dynamics and control actions (control loop delay included) of MMC are considered in the derivation process. With consideration of impedance characteristics of dc transmission lines, the harmonic stability for the dc system of MMC-HVDC are theoretically analyzed across a wide frequency range and the possible harmonic resonance problems are revealed. On this basis, a modified dc damping control is proposed to mitigate the harmonic resonances and improve the harmonic stability at all possible frequency points. At last, the proposed model and control method are validated by simulation results.

In this paper, the finite element simulation models of tower, line, insulator and human body of UHV AC / DC parallel line are established, the distribution characteristics of human surface electric field of ±1100 kV DC line live working when erected in parallel with 1000 kV AC are obtained, and the distribution of human surface electric field at five typical working locations commonly used for live maintenance are calculated. The influence of the parallel distance between the two lines in the range of 28-70 m on the electric field level is studied. We also calculated and compared the average body surface maximum electric field of two equipotential entry paths for live maintenance of DC lines when the nearest parallel distance between the two lines is 28 m, which provides a reference basis for electromagnetic shielding protection measures for live operation of ±1100 kV DC lines.

The load terminal voltage at the low voltage side of the distribution network will drop when the user load increases. Thereby affecting the normal operation of the electrical appliance. Currently, the treatment approach to the voltage deviation at the low voltage side of the distribution network is using the Parallel reactive power compensation technology. However, the compensation effect will decrease with the load increases. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method for applying series capacitor compensation to the low voltage side of the distribution network. Firstly, the principle of low voltage generation on the low-voltage side of the distribution network is derived. Then introduce the principle of series reactive power compensation method. And according to the actual parameters of the project, simulate the terminal voltage amplitudes and the line current under the different wire types and load rates. Finally, the improvement effect of series reactive power compensation on the low-voltage side power quality of distribution network is analyzed with simulation calculation. The results show that the proposed method has a good control effect on the power quality of the low-voltage side of the distribution network. © 2020 ACM.

The regional integrated energy system is an effective way to realize energy cascade utilization and improve the flexibility and economy of the load side operation. Combine cooling heating and power (CCHP) system is a typical form of integrated energy systems. However, due to heat-load-based operation mode, the peak modulation capacity of CCHP units and the accommodation of renewable energy are limited. This paper explores methods of increasing the flexibility and economy of the system. An optimal scheduling model is proposed for integrated energy systems containing an electric heat pump, considering heating network characteristics. Simulation results show that the electric heat pump can help the system realize heat-and-power decoupling, improve the flexibility of the system and reduce the operating cost of the system. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.
