With the continued growth of electricity demand, the power system is trending towards extreme operation increasingly. In order to analyze the impact of load changes on power system operating risks, a novel power system security risk assessment algorithm is proposed based on Latin hypercube sampling and daily peak load forecasting. Firstly, the gated recurrent neural network combining dynamic time warping is applied to forecast the daily peak load. Then a Markov-based component failure model is constructed and the component state is determined by Latin hypercube sampling. Finally, the optimal load reduction and security risk of the power system is calculated. The simulation results show that, compared to Monte Carlo sampling, Latin Hypercube sampling requires fewer samples to achieve the same accuracy. Furthermore, it can be found by observing the fluctuation of power system security risk and daily peak load that their trend of changing is basically the similar but the amplitude is different. When the load level is low, there is a “compression” effect on the power system risk changes, and when the load level is high, there is a “stretch” effect. Therefore, accurate load forecasting can determine the risk trend of the system in advance, which is beneficial to the safe and stable operation of the power system.

IEEE 802.15.4g Standard specifies multi-rate and multi-regional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MR-OFDM) physical layer, which supports principally outdoor, low-data-rate, wireless, smart metering utility network (SUN). Caused by Doppler frequency shift of fading channel, the inter-channel interference (ICI) arises in MROFDM system. In this paper, the degrading of performance due to ICI for detection of phase shift keying modulation signal is provided. It is derived that non-ideal properties for reception symbols are characterized by sampling offset and phase shift on subcarrier. Furthermore, the influence on data demodulation under different conditions is analyzed in detail. Simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis. © 2019 IEEE.

power distribution operation involves the supervision and control of the operating states of a large distribution power grid. This technology includes several features, e.g. an abundant amount of application nodes, diversity of communication channels, etc. To accelerate the construction of state grid-electric Internet of things and to guarantee the security of power grids data network and to consider the feature of power grids, a synthetic key management system is proposed. In the first section of this paper, from the perspective of maturity and practicality of related technology, the feasibility of combining quantum private communication and automatic power grid key management system is analyzed and demonstrated. In the next section, a key-management method, which is designed to combine quantum private communication technology and interaction with encryption devices, is designed and implemented. In the concluding section, to guarantee the integrity and atomicity in key storage processes and to achieve the quantum key storage, rollback mechanism of large-capacity quantum key storage is studied and discussed. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper proposes an optimal power flow calculation method of minimum three-phase unbalance of distribution network based on split-phase SNOP breakers. First, a new circuit design of split-phase SNOP breakers is proposed, and its corresponding mathematical modeling is also established. Then, an optimal power flow calculation model of minimum three-phase unbalance of distribution network is developed, based on split-phase SNOP mathematical modeling. The model has 3 objective functions, minimum unbalanced three-phase active load, minimum unbalanced three-phase voltage magnitudes and minimum active power loss of distribution systems. The constraints are included power flow constraints and split-phase SNOP operation constraints. And the relative dominant method is used for transforming dual objectives to one objective, and the immune genetic algorithm is hired for solving. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified by simulation analysis of a practical distribution network with 5 feeders. © 2019 IEEE.

Data mining techniques can help utilities to analyze the electricity utilization behavior and make decisions based on massive data from smart meter. In this paper, an innovative Affinity Propagation clustering algorithm is proposed and improved in load curve clustering to analyze demand response potential effectively. First, the feature indices of load curve are extracted to reduce data dimension. In the face of the weakness of subjective weighing, Entropy Weighting is introduced to objectively determine the weight of load feature indices. Then, Preference parameter of AP clustering algorithm is adjusted by local search mechanism to improve the similarity calculation, and the convergence of clustering result is ameliorated by DB index. Based on the clustering result, the feature indices are combined to analyze the demand response potential of customer. Case studies show that the proposed algorithm has good performance in both the clustering efficiency and effect, and the extracted features are beneficial to consumption behavior analysis. © 2019 IEEE.

The unsteady nature of renewable energy leads to voltage and power profile fluctuations over short periods of time and according to seasonal variations. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) offer promise to mitigate such disadvantages. However, to apply BESSs to practical power grids, we require a means to allocate them, including their number, location, and capacity, and a control strategy to allocate power demand. In this paper, we first define a linear performance index, called power mileage, which denotes the voltage quality. We then build a new model using power mileage to optimize the allocation of BESSs and construct a simple control method to alleviate the voltage fluctuation. The use of a power dispatch matrix obtained from the optimization model yields a simple but effective method for controlling the batteries. Applying our model to a real-world power grid in Chongqing, China shows that the method works well at peak-shaving on a large scale and mitigates fluctuation over short time periods. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper is to propose an optimization model for restructuring distribution network considering connecting constraints of DGs. First, problems of regional load improving and safe control of system contingency of distribution network connecting distributed generation were analyzed, and the basic concepts of returning current constraints and system contingency constraints of distributed generation were proposed. And then, two indexes of regional power total variable capacitance and 10kV feeder network structure qualification index were put forward. Subsequently, this paper proposed an optimization model for restructuring distribution network considering connecting constraints of DGs. Furthermore, an immune genetic algorithm (IGA) was proposed to solve this model. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by simulation analysis of a practical 10 kV distribution network in a certain area. © 2019 IEEE.

Partial discharge online detection technology can reflect the insulation status of electrical equipment. The extrinsic fiber Fabry-Perot sensor uses a diaphragm cavity to sense the changes in interference intensity caused by the sound waves generated by partial discharge. It has stronger resistance to electromagnetic interference, longer transmission distance, and smaller structure, comparing with traditional ultrasonic sensors. With so many advantages, it undoubtedly becomes the focus of research on partial discharge ultrasonic detection. This paper first explores the sensitivity mechanism of optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensors to acoustic signals. Then, according to the change laws of the resonance frequency of the diaphragm with the size parameters, a fiber optic Fabry-Perot partial discharge sensor based on the structure of the nickel circular diaphragm and the quartz tube is developed. The fabricated Fabry-Perot sensor is placed in water, and the acoustic signals from the piezoelectric ceramic transducer driven by the signal generator are detected; the partial discharge ultrasonic signals generated by the pin-plate electrode model in transformer oil are also tested. And the tests have achieved the desired results.

Based on the temperature change and thermal storage processes of PCM phase change energy storage unit, the PCM channel number of which is 39, the plate spacing is 0.01 m, the air channel is 40 with its plate spacing of 0.003 m, and the unit length is total of 1.62 m. MATLAB solution about the above PCM energy storage unit was performed according to the model and physical property data, and the numerical simulation was carried out by using Fluent software. The theoretical calculation and numerical simulation were compared and analyzed. It is found that only in the case of smaller or larger flow rate working conditions, the solution results of MATLAB for the increase rate of the average temperature of the phase change material inside the system is quite different from the FLUENT simulation result;the comparison of the phase change process degree of advancement is found that at a higher flow rate, the difference between the two results is small, but the difference is larger when the flow rate is smaller;the comparison result of the PCM liquid rate is different under the small flow rate condition. However, the comparative analysis of heat storage shows that the maximum error does not exceed 10%. It can be seen that the flow rate conditions in the model and working conditions are the obvious factors affecting the two results, but the calculation and simulation results can more accurately describe the heat storage characteristics of the PCM phase change energy storage unit, which was calculated in nearly 90% ranges of working conditions, which can prove that the results of MATLAB and FLUENT are consistent. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.
