Sulfur corrosion induced by active sulfur has been proved to significantly decrease the insulation performance of oil-immersed equipment. In order to protect the oil-paper insulation from sulfur corrosion, active sulfur is cleared in the refining process of crude oil. Some inactive sulfur with high-efficiency antioxidant is still retained in the mineral oil to improve the oxidation stability of oil, such as thiophenic compounds. However, the corrosive effect of inactive sulfur on the oil-paper insulation has not yet clear. Therefore, thiophene that is the largest content of sulfide in the insulating oil was selected as the research object, a series of accelerated thermal ageing experiments of oil-paper without and with thiophene under the different high temperature were conducted, scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM/EDX) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) were used to characterize the corrosion degree of oil-paper insulation. The results show that no corrosive deposit was observed on the surface of oilpaper insulation without thiophene even at very high temperature, while a few corrosive deposit was accumulated on the surface of oil-paper insulation with 500 mg/kg thiophene. The corrosion degree of oil-paper insulation with thiophene had an uptrend as the increase of temperature (130°C-180°C), preliminarily indicating that thiophene may be activated in the oil-paper system under the action of overheating fault of oil-immersed transformer and posed a corrosion threat to oil-paper insulation.

The emergence of smart agriculture has enabled functions such as agricultural visualization, remote control, and disaster forecasting. In the process of smart agriculture construction, a substantial number of sensors are typically required to effectively monitor environmental parameters. In this study, a high-power density double-rotor triboelectric nanogenerator (DR-TENG) integrating wind energy harvesting and environment monitoring is introduced, by which the relative velocity between the two rotors is augmented through rotational reversal, thereby enhancing output performance and monitoring accuracy. By virtue of this mechanism, the output current witness a remarkable enhancement of 76.7 % under the wind speed of 4 m/s. There is an excellent linear correlation coefficient (99.9 %) between the signal frequency of DR-TENG and the excitation wind speed, indicating that the DR-TENG exhibits exceptional sensing performance. The present study establishes a wireless sensing system for smart agriculture based on DR-TENG, which integrates a power supply circuit, signal processing circuit, temperature sensor, and Zigbee module, enabling self-powered real-time monitoring of wind speed and temperature. Additionally, the DR-TENG can be used to recognize humidity. The accuracy of humidity recognition based on deep learning model reaches 98 %. This work presents an efficient and viable method for wind energy harvesting and environment monitoring.

Using Time Difference of Arrival(TDoA) positioning results and the Inertial measurement unit(IMU) for calculating the motion state of information fusion can significantly improve the positioning accuracy, due to the carrier in the process of movement, the state of the system noise and measurement noise are not strictly obey the normal gaussian distribution, which makes the traditional fusion positioning method using Kalman Filtering algorithm less accurate. This paper proposes an adaptive filter fusion localization mechanism with LSTM network correction. Firstly, a data preprocessing method is designed to convert IMU data from the carrier coordinate system to the geographical coordinate system. Then, based on kinematics theory, the state equation and measurement equation of Adaptive Kalman Filter are established and the system state noise is obtained. Furthermore, the model adaptively to update the carrier coordinate, system state noise and measurement noise. Finally, the carrier trajectory coordinates predicted by the coupled LSTM model are used to obtain the final positioning results and complete the carrier trajectory filtering. Experimental results show that the proposed fusion localization mechanism can effectively improve the accuracy of carrier trajectory localization. © 2019 EAI.

Insulation failures of oil-immersed power transformer induced by sulfur corrosion can be controlled by adding the metal passivator into insulating oil. However, it has been reported that the addition of benzotriazole and its derivative passivators into insulating oil would cause abnormal generation of dissolved gases in the oil during the operation of oil-immersed transformer. Therefore, this paper investigated on the effect of passivator on the characteristics of dissolved gas in the oil under the action of thermal field. Benzotriazole (BTA) that widely used in the oil-immersed transformer was selected as the research object, the thermogravimetric analysis of BTA was conducted, and a series of accelerate thermal ageing experiments of oil-paper insulation with and without BTA were also conducted, the composition and content of dissolved gases in oil were measured and analyzed. The results show that BTA was pyrolyzed continuously as the temperature increase. The addition of BTA in oil accelerated the contents of H2, CO and CO2 and decelerated the content of hydrocarbon gases, which lead to abnormal generation of dissolved gases in oil. All of these may interfere the operation condition evaluation of oil-immersed transformer based on DGA technology.

Submarine cables have complicated structures and high production process requirements. In order to make sure the submarine cables to operate safely and reliably, this paper takes into account how the different laying conditions of submarine cables affect the maximum allowable ampacity. A 110kV YJQ-1500 XLPE submarine cable is taken as the research object, based on the finite element method, the electromagnetic-thermal coupling models of the submarine cable laying in underwater soil, seawater and pipeline is established respectively in Comsol Multiphysics to study their thermal field and ampacities. The results indicate that the laying conditions would affect the cables' heat dissipation, submarine cable lays in seawater has the highest ampacity and lays in the pipeline in landing section of the cable has the lowest ampacity. Moreover, the variation of temperature of seawater would also influence the ampacity of the submarine cable. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

High-voltage DC arrester is one of the key equipment for overvoltage protection of ultra-high voltage DC (UHVDC) transmission system. This device plays a decisive role in the insulation level of the whole process. The current distribution between resistance pieces of multi-column parallel arresters is non-uniform, which affects the overall energy absorption capacity of arresters. First, a real failure case of ±500 kV Xiluodu-Nuozhadu HVDC project is introduced. Then, the analysis of the specific failure case is proposed. In the power industry, there are a lot of image and video data need to be analyzed to find out equipment abnormalities such as bolt looseness and out of stock. Using artificial intelligence technology for image analysis can reduce the artificial dependence, but the general object detection algorithms, such as SSD, can not get a good detection effect for small targets. In this paper, we proposed an improved SSD object recognition algorithm to improve the recognition accuracy of small targets, based on the characteristics of power image recognition requirements. The method can improve the ability of SSD framework to understand small objects and enhance the location information and semantic information of the small targets. The method introduce the deconvolution structure to act on the shallow feature layer Conv4-3 and then use pooling layer to get the fixed size. Finally the method made Conv14 upsampled to the same size, and make full use of the information of small targets. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve the good recognition accuracy. © 2019 IEEE.

Unreasonable selection of control parameters of voltage dependent current order limiter (VDCOL) in the DC system may lead to further deterioration in recovery characteristics, causing continuous commutation failure. Firstly, by analyzing the relationship between VDCOL recovery slope, the AC bus voltage and the extinction angle, a method for changing the slope of VDCOL characteristic curve according to the AC bus voltage during faults is proposed. When the commutation failure occurs at DC grid, the VDCOL immediately sets the characteristic curve slope during system recovery according to the real-time measured commutation voltage and critical extinction angle value. This method can reduce the reactive power consumed by the converter which benefits to suppress the continuous commutation failure of the DC system to a certain extent. Finally, the CIGRE HVDC standard test model is built in PSCAD/EMTDC, and the effectiveness of the proposed recovery strategy in suppressing subsequent commutation failure and improving system recovery characteristics is verified. This method makes full use of HVDC system controller and does a great significance to improve the recovery performance of HVDC. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and technology. All rights reserved.

In order to study the transient motion of the space charge around the air tower insulator and the charge distribution of the insulator, a two-dimensional mixed numerical model of the insulator string based on chemical reaction is proposed. The simulation is used to obtain the space charge generation mechanism and its distribution on the insulator surface. The chemical reaction of particles mainly involves ionisation and recombination. Based on the simulation model, it is found that the accumulation of electrons on the surface of the insulation is the main reason for the distortion of the surface of the insulator. With the increase of the discharge time, the electron temperature decreases and the reaction rate decreases. The ionisation reaction gradually reaches the dynamic equilibrium. The umbrella skirt under the surface of the ion to stabilise the moment to be earlier than the umbrella skirt surface ions to achieve the steady state of the moment. A numerical model of air discharge based on Monte Carlo collision is proposed, which can well simulate the distribution of charge around the insulator of atmospheric tower. It is very important to study the phenomenon of the insulator along the surface discharge. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and *** right reserved.

A Fault Line Selection Technique for Single-Phase-to-Earth in network grounded with Arc Extinguishing Coil

For the fault line selection of single-phase-to-earth network, the instantaneous characteristic of the arc extinguishing coil is worth expecting. Focused on the transient characteristics in fault line selection technique, the sinusoid adaptive filter (SAF) and the sinusoid approximation of instantaneous signal (SAIS) are adopted in this paper. SAF is used to obtain the grounding moment, while SAIS is applied to obtain the direction and amplitude of the zero-sequence fundamental current when grounding happens. As for eliminating the influence of current transformer (CT) polarity, the compensation feature realized by SAIS is effectively adopted in selecting process. The techniques and methods in the paper have been applied to Chongqing Electric power Co. for 5 years. In 5 years, hundreds of grounding faulted line has been chosen correctly, 6 wave records of which are shown in the paper.
