The smart substation communication network is the basis for information sharing of various devices in the substation. Its operation status has an important impact on the safe operation of the substation and even the power grid. Therefore, real-time status monitoring of the smart substation communication network is becoming more and more important. Aiming at the problems of single dimension, insufficient real-time performance and manual fault analysis in existing substation communication network state monitoring technology, this paper proposes a method of smart substation communication network state monitoring and fault prediction based on network communication quality. This paper uses switch ACL technology and coloring technology to obtain communication quality indexes such as bandwidth utilization, delay, and packet loss rate in real time; based on a multi-dimensional evaluation algorithm, a comprehensive evaluation model of network communication quality is constructed; the model of the relationship between abnormal network communication quality and failures is established. Finally, real-time monitoring of network communication quality and fault prediction are realized. The application analysis in a typical 110 kV substation shows that this method can effectively evaluate the network communication quality and accurately predict failures, and can guide operationer and maintenaner to quickly restore the normal operation of the communication network.

UHF Signals Calibration for Typical Partial Discharge Defects in Transformer Oil

In order to quantitatively calibrate the characteristics of the UHF partial discharge(PD) detection technology in oil-immersed transformer, we built the common PD defects and completed the correlation experiment research in artificial imitating transformer. Meanwhile we extracted the apparent discharge magnitude and accumulated energy of PD signals as a calibration characteristic when the four defects in oil under different discharge voltage, and conducted a comparative analysis on their relationship. It is concluded that the accumulated signal energy has a linear relationship with the square of signal discharge, moreover, the goodness of fit of calibration regression curve can be influenced by the type of oil paper insulation defect and the amplitude of experiment voltage, and so the specific types and conditions of PD must be considered in UHF signal calibration. The results enrich the database of UHF detection in transformer oil and provide the favorable reference for a further study of calibrating UHF signal’s discharge quantity in oil.

Accurately detecting the concentration of methanol dissolved in transformer oil is of great importance for diagnosing the aging degradation of insulating *** this paper,acetonitrile were selected as extractants,and mixed with transformer oil samples containing different concentrations of methanol to complete the sample pretreatment *** concentration of methanol in transformer oil samples was determined by Raman *** quantitative analysis method based on the principal component analysis of peak intensity of Raman spectra and the quantitative analysis method based on principal component analysis of peak area of Raman spectra were *** results show that the accuracy of fitting and error calculation using Raman spectral peak area as quantitative analysis parameter is higher,especially in the low concentration case concerned,it is helpful for us to detect trace methanol dissolved in transformer oil.

Substation-area Backup Protection Scheme for the Failure of 10kV Line Protection Device

The research on wide-area backup protection for high-voltage transmission lines has made certain progress in recent years, but there are few reports published on substation-area backup protection for low-voltage 10kV transmission lines. Based on the characteristics of shared information in intelligent substation, a substation-area backup protection scheme to deal with the failure of 10kV line protection device is proposed in this paper. This scheme uses the device self-test information and heartbeat mechanism to monitor the operation status of 10kV line protection devices; to realize the substation-area backup protection for the 10kV transmission lines when any line protection device fails, the protection criterion is constructed by the action results of power directional elements of transformer protections and other 10kV line protections. The proposed scheme can greatly improve the speed of the fault isolation and has low requirements for data demand and synchronization. PSCAD simulation results show that the proposed method is with high correctness and feasibility.

Aiming at the shortcomings of traditional security chip data transmission, a method of security chip data transmission based on command control word is proposed. The method divides the read command mode and write command mode of the security chip files into two kinds of representation methods. The read command and write command of the security chip files are transmitted by different data transmission methods. In the control word of read and write command mode of security chip files, the read and write commands of security chip files are transmitted in four ways: plaintext, ciphertext, plaintext + MAC and ciphertext + MAC. The properties of prohibit adding and updating are added to the writing command control word of security chip files. In the control word of read command and write command of security chip files, define the permissions that read command and write command operation need to satisfy. © 2019 IEEE.

Analysis of Tie-line power Optimization in Integrated Energy Distribution System

Recently, the concept of integrated energy distribution system (IEDS) has gained popularity both in academia and industry, it is characterized by the comprehensive integration of multi-energy carriers and flexible utilization of available resources including distribution generations (DGs). However, the stability problem caused by the intermittency of renewable energy and uncertainties of energy demands are among the main concerns that need to be regulated properly. To address this issue, a novel method of tie-line power optimization is proposed in this paper, where the synergies among various energy sectors are stressed. The model of regional energy station (RES) is studied to provide the model basis, which can be regarded as the coupling link of electric power system (EPS) and natural gas system (NGS). In this regard, the flexibility of energy conversion and dispatch can be utilized as a kind of controllable resources for the sake of tie-line power optimization. Therefore, the tie-line power can be regulated in a flexible way in response to the control signal from the dispatch center. Verified by numerical studies, the results show the efficiency and applicability of the proposed strategy.

In recent years, with the rapid development of smart grid, Intelligent Electric Meter is becoming more and more popular. As an important terminal of Intelligent Electric Meter development, its reliability and security play an important role in the development of Intelligent Electric Meter. However, in practical application, Intelligent Electric Meter users and power grid have more testing methods and requirements for Intelligent Electric Meter functionality. The reliability and security of smart meter software have the following problems: the software architecture is not uniform, the software testing involves less penetration testing, and the loopholes in the software testing are not easy to find. In this paper, by analyzing the embedded software architecture of Intelligent Electric Meter, combined with penetration testing method, a set of Intelligent Electric Meter software reliability and security system is established to ensure that the reliability and security test of Intelligent Electric Meter software can be carried out more scientifically.

The fault characteristics of superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) are dynamic and nonlinear, which makes it difficult to recognize the failure state accurately. In this paper, the fault characteristics of a DCSFCL were investigated and an intelligent diagnostic method was proposed. We present mathematical formulations and a simulation model with COMSOL for transient analysis of DC power systems. The model consists of non-inductive superconducting coils, liquid nitrogen vessel. The value variation regularities of temperature, pressure and liquid level under different fault states were studied. In addition, kriging interpolation method was applied to solve convergence problem during thermal calculating. The correlations between characteristic parameters and operating status were analyzed. Framework for fault diagnosis of SFCL based on fault tree model was established and identification of the fault is carried out by comparison of obtained operating parameters with preset values. The results show that the fault type was determined by fault tree analysis. Moreover, the seriousness of fault is affected by the fault characteristic quantities, which provides an early warning of faults and benefit the condition-based maintenance.

The temperature distribution of the submarine cable is an important parameter during the operation. In order to lift the efficiency of heat dissipation during the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable thermal cycling test, this study presents a method of cooling the cable using a cooling pipe with circulating water. A three-dimensional mode based on the thermal-fluid coupled model was established for 500 kV HVDC submarine cable by using finite element simulation software COMSOL Multiphysics and Fluent. The temperature field distribution and carrying ampacity of the HVDC submarine cables were analysed and compared under two cooling modes including bipolar double pipe and bipolar single pipe. The results indicate that both cooling modes can lift the current carrying ampacity of the cable;the bipolar double tube cooling mode performs better in cooling, a tiny circulating water velocity can significantly reduce the temperature of the submarine cable. Thus both suitable cooling mode and circulating water velocity were determined to accelerate the heat dissipation of the submarine cable during the thermal cycling test. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and *** right reserved.
