A novel portable NMR sensor with an adjustable 'clamp' structure has been designed and constructed for the purpose of noninvasively assessing the aging status of the silicone rubber insulator used in the high voltage power transmission. The silicone rubber insulators in different depth and serviced for different years were measured and the effective transverse relaxation time T2eff was recorded. The result shows that the effective transverse relaxation time T2eff decreases as the insulator's service year increases and the depth decreases. The relative permittivity was meassured which shows a same changing trend as transverse relaxation time T2eff It indicates that the T2eff measured by the portable NMR sensor can be used as an index to reflect the degradation of the insulator's insulation performance. © 2015 IEEE.

Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) is a typical inspection method in the semiconductor IC manufacturing industry. Because the die thickness is a key parameter for SIM card, a new method to measure the internal die thickness of SIM card is proposed with SAM's reflective scanning mode. Using this method the internal die thickness of SIM card can be accurately measured without introducing any damages to SIM card. The thickness model and methodology based on the SAM signals have been established. The model was properly verified and calibrated by two real test cases.

With the development of large capacity variable speed constant frequency wind turbines, wind power converters with the multi-chip paralleled insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules are widely used as an energy flow interface, a valid junction temperature calculation is vital considering the multichip electro-thermal influences, because thermal analysis is of great significance in terms of safe operation and reliability for the wind power converter. Focusing on the multi-chip thermal coupling effects, this paper proposes an improved thermal couple impedance model for a real multi-chip IGBT module in the power converter of a 2MW doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbine. First, the steady state junction temperature and thermal coupling profiles are analyzed by using finite element method (FEM). Second, by introducing into the equivalent thermal couple impedance matrix, an improved electro-thermal model is derived. Finally, junction temperatures of chips in different position are calculated by using the improved thermal coupling impedance model, and the results are further compared with those of the traditional thermal model and real tested case temperatures of the 2MW DFIG. Results show that the improved thermal model is much more valid than the traditional model for the thermal analysis of the multi-chip paralleled power module in the wind turbine power converter, and junction temperatures of the chips in non-edge position could be higher and this should be carefully considered in design and operational management control. © 2015 IEEE.

Failure rate of transmission line and reliability of power system are significantly affected by Lightning meteorological factor. In view of the complexity and variability of Lightning meteorological factors, this paper presents lightning trip-out rate model of transmission line in considering distribution of ground flash density and lightning day hours. Meanwhile, presents a failure rate model of transmission line in different condition, and a risk analysis method for transmission line considering multiple risk factors based on risk quantification. This method takes Lightning meteorological factor as the main evaluation standard, and establishes risk degree evaluation system for transmission line including another five evaluation standard. We put forward the risk indicators by quantifying the risk factors based on experience date of transmission line in service. Based on the risk indexes comprehensive evaluation is conducted, and the evaluation result closer to practice is achieved, providing basis for transmission line risk warning and maintenance strategy. © 2015 Taylor and Francis Group.

According to the influence factors of energy efficiency digged from user energy data, this paper establishes a multilevel energy efficiency evaluation system considering equipment and users on the whole. Objective and subjective weighting method is adopted to balance the influence of subjective and objective factors. Matter-element extension model is used to build a hierarchy of energy efficiency indicators to form user's electric energy efficiency grades. Analyzing assessment results based on this model can reflect the energy efficiency level of the user, and offer users help in energy management and tap the energy saving potential. © 2015 IEEE.

In order to remedy the defect that the determination of weight in fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is impacted by subjectivity, the combination weight is introduced. In this paper, the optimization Model combines the subjective weight and objective weight, which is solved by PSO, is built. At the same time, In order to give full consideration to the uncertain and fuzzy factors which involved in the grid planning, this paper combines the combination weight and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to assess the grid-planning scheme. The calculation results of IEEE Garver-6 show that the proposed fuzzy comprehensive evaluation system is clear in theory and convenient to calculate, the combination weight is objective and reasonable as well as its results are scientific and intuitive. © 2015 Taylor and Francis Group.

Space Charge Transient Kinetic Characteristics in DC Air Corona Discharge at Atmospheric Pressure

Investigating the corona mechanism plays a key role in enhancing the performance of electrical insulation systems. Numerical simulation offers a better understanding of the physical characteristics of air corona discharges. Using a two-dimensional axisymmetrical kinetics model, into which the photoionization effect is incorporated, the DC air corona discharge at atmosphere pressure is studied. The plasma model is based on a self-consistent, multi-component, and con- tinuum description of the air discharge, which is comprised of 12 species and 22 reactions. The discharge voltage-current characteristic predicted by the model is found to be in quite good agree- ment with experimental measurements. The behavior of the electronic avalanche progress is Mso described. 0＋ and N＋ are the dominant positive ions, and the values of 0- and 02 densities are much smaller than that of the electron. The electron and positive ion have a low-density thin layer near the anode, which is a result of the surface reaction and absorption effect of the electrode. As time progresses, the electric field increases and extends along the cathode surface, whereas the cathode fall shrinks after the corona discharge hits the cathode; thus, in the cathode sheath, the electron temperature increases and the position of its peak approaches to the cathode. The present computational model contributes to the understanding of this physical mechanism, and suggests ways to improve the electrical insulation system.

Overhead distribution line is easy to suffer lightning trip upon strong thunderstorm due to its low design insulation level, which will reduce reliability of power distribution system. Considering the random annual changes of thunderstorm characteristic parameters, a long-term reliability model of overhead distribution line against thunderstorm disaster was established for strong thunderstorm regions based on the probability distribution model of thunderstorm characteristic parameters. This model takes insulator type and installation interval of arrester as the decision variables and views the cost of power distribution network in the whole life cycle as the objective function. The optimal thunderstorm-resistance planning of overhead distribution line was solved by using the genetic algorithm. The established model was used to make a thunderstorm-resistance planning of the RBTS-BUS2 system. Results showed that based on this model, grid planners could comprehend lightning strike risk level of the power distribution network according to intensity of regional thunderstorm characteristic parameters, and could make reliable and economical planning scheme of insulator type and arrester interval.

Combined heat and power(CHP) micro-grid combines various distributed generation units, heat supply units, energy storage equipment, electric load, heat load and control devices together to provide users electricity and heat simultaneously. Heat and electricity could be transformed mutually under grid-connected mode and island mode, thus realizing high-efficiency utilization of new energies. However, such new energy unit has higher cost of investment per capacity compared to traditional generator unit. Unreasonable power capacity of micro-grid will cause not only wastes of wind energies and electric energies, but also over high cost of investment. Therefore, it is of important significance to plan capacities of units in CHP micro-grid reasonably according to local weather, wind speed and load. In this paper, a model for optimizing capacity assignment of CHP micro-grid with heat pumps was established. Targeting at normal operation of CHP micro-grid and optimum economical efficiency, this model combines historical meteorological data of regions to distribute capacities to wind turbines, CHP unit, lead-acid battery and the heat pump reasonably for warm and cold seasons respectively

A novel cantilever array sensor was micro-fabricated for precise bio-marker detection. The device was fabricated on a SOI wafer with CMOS compatible processes. In order to reducing the effect of k variation due to adsorption, a local biochemical reaction cavity was designed in the free end of the cantilever, the antibody-immobilization was performed in this local area by micro printing technology. This approach can be applied to enhance the performance of all the cantilever-based sensors. The PDMS package is designed to be used for the cantilever sensor which is greatly promoting the practicality of the sensor.
