Flame-retardant mechanism of magnesium oxychloride (M OC) in EP was in-vestigated by limiting oxygen index (LOI), XRD, SEM, TG-DTG and DSC. The results show that MOC performed well as an inorganic flame-retardant in EP. When the content of MOC is 50%, the LOI of EP reaches 29.6% and mass of residual char reaches 9.6%. The flame retarde mechanism of MOC is due to the synergies of diluting, cooling, catalyzing char forming and obstructing effects.

Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/TiO2/C60 composite catalysts were prepared by hydrothermal method. TiO2 was deposited on the MWCNT surface. Their photocatalytic activities for degradation of Rhodamine B dye were studied. X-ray diffraction, field emission transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible light absorption spectrum and photoluminescence spectrum were carried out to characterize the composite catalysts. The results indicated that MWCNTs and C60 could greatly enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2.

Samples of LiNi0.95-xCoxAl0.05O2 (x = 0.10 and 0.15) and LiNiO2, synthesized by the solid-state reaction at 725℃ for 24 h from LiOH-H2O, Ni2O3, Co2O3, and AI(OH)3 under an oxygen stream, were characterized by TG-DTA, XRD, SEM, and electrochemical tests. Simultaneous doping of cobalt and aluminum at the Ni-site in LiNiO2 was tried to improve the cathode performance for lithium-ion batteries. The results showed that co-doping (especially, 5 at.% A1 and 10 at.% Co) definitely had a large beneficial effect in increasing the capacity (186.2 mA.h/g of the first discharge capacity for LiNio.s.42OoaoAlo.0502) and cycling behavior (180.1 mA-h/g after 10 cycles for ***2) compared with 180.7 mA.h/g of the first discharge capacity and 157.7 mA.h/g of the tenth discharge capacity for LiNiO2, respectively. Differen- tial capacity versus voltage curves showed that the co-doped LiNio.95_***2 had less intensity of the phase transitions than the pristine LiNiO2.

Three-dimensional (3D) porous carbon-based materials with tunable composition and microstructure are of great interest for the development of oxygen involved electrocatalytic reactions. Here, we report the synthesis of 3D porous carbon-based electrocatalyst by self-assembling Co-metal organic frameworks (MOF) building blocks on graphene via a layer-by-layer technique. Precise control of the structure and morphology is achieved by varying the MOF layer to tune the electrocatalytic properties. The as-produced electrocatalyst exhibits an excellent catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction in 0.1molL^-1 KOH, showing a high onset potential of 0.963V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) and a low tafel slope of 54mVdec^-1, compared to Pt/C (0.934V and 52mVdec^-1, respectively). Additionally, it shows a slightly lower potential vs. RHE (1.72V) than RuO2 (1.75V) at 10mAcm^-2 in an alkaline electrolyte. A rechargeable Zn-air battery based on the as-produced 3D porous catalyst demonstrates a high peak power density of 119mWcm^-2 at a cell voltage of 0.578V while retaining an excellent stability over 250 charge-discharge cycles.

Three novel dielectric ceramics Ba5LnZnNb9O30 (Ln= La, Nd and Sm) were synthesized and characterized in the BaO-Ln2O3-ZnO-Nb2O5 quaternary system, which formed the filled tungsten-bronze structures. The present ceramics exhibit high dielectric constant (εr) up to 310, low dielectric loss in the level of 10 3 at 1 MHz. Meanwhile, the temperature coefficients of the dielectric constant (τε) of Ba5LnZnNb9O3o varies from -1 390×10-6 to -1 220×10-6/℃as the radius of Ln3+ increases. The present ceramics are promising candidates for high dielectric constant and low loss dielectric ceramics.

Air plasma spraying (APS) was used to produce high emissivity coatings with a NiCr204 spinel structure. The relationship between the emissivity and the crystal structure was investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses show that NiCr204 spinel has been fabri- cated with the space group Fd3m. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs show that the coating consists of a laminated structure with homogeneous grains and high porosity because of the unique feature of plasma spraying. The emissivity measurement and Fourier transformation infrared radiation (FT-IR) spectra show that NiCr204 has a high emissivity of about 0.91 because of its special spinel structure APS is a suitable method to produce high emissivity coatings.
