TiO2 thin films were prepared on soda lime glass, fused quartz and stainless steel substrates by liquid phase deposition (LPD) method from a (NH4)2TiF6 aqueous solution upon the addition of boric acid (H3BO3), and then calcined at 500°C for 2 h. The prepared films were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It was found that the substrates obviously influenced the element composition and microstructure of TiO2 thin films. Except Ti, O and a small amount of F and N elements, which came from the precursor solution, some Si (or Fe) element in the thin films deposited on soda lime glass and quartz substrates (or on stainless steel substrate) was confirmed. The Si (or Fe) element in the thin films could be attributed to two sources. One was from the SiF 62- ions (or FeF62- ions) formed by a reaction between the treatment solution and soda lime glass or quartz (or stainless steel) substrates. The other was attributed to the diffusion of Si (or Fe) from the surface of substrates into the TiO2 thin films after calcination at 500°C. The Si (or Fe) element in the TiO2 thin films could behave as a dopant and resulted in the formation of composite SiO2/TiO2 (or Fe2O3/TiO2) thin films on the substrates.

Influence of nano pulverization on structure and extraction percent of angelica

The nano particles of angelica were prepared by high-speed centrifugal sheering (HSCS) pulverizer. The particles were characterized by ZetaPALS light scattering granulometric analyzer, optical microscope and SEM. HPLC was employed to determine the content of ferulic acid, which is the indes ingredient of angelica. Experimental results showed that the average size of solid particle was 76.5 nm after nano-pulverization. The great majority of the plant cell was broken. After nano-pulverization, extraction percent of ferulic acid was increased by 12.95%.

Influence of edge effects on the molding filling in liquid composites molding

In liquid composites molding (LCM) processes,a gap between the perform and the mold edge can create a preferential flow path for the resin, which is the so-called edge effect. The resin flow behaviors in different gaps were studied by the unidirectional flow method together with the equivalent permeability tensor of flow path computed by two geometric models. In addition, the filling process was simulated to predict the influences of edge effects on the flow pattern. It is found out that even small gaps would disturb the edge flow. The simulation shows good agreement with the experiments.

Relationship between saturated water vapour pressure and characteristics of porous medium in PEMFC

Water management of PEMFC is a key factor for its successful operation. Based on the microstructure model of the catalyst layer, the transfer manner of the water produced in the electrochemical reaction is analysed. According to the hydrophilic and the hydrophobic characteristics of the porous medium of the catalyst layer, sub-diffusion layer and the diffusion layer, the effect of the diameter of the pore in the porous medium on the saturation water vapour pressure is calculated, and hence conclusion is made that the produced water by the electrochemical reaction can be either vapour or liquid, depending upon the environment where it exists. Hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity and the diameter of the pore in the porous medium have great effect on the saturation water vapour pressure;when water phase change and two-phase flow is studied in pore level, the factors mentioned above must be considered.

technology trends in today's cooperative design environments are making it more and more important to monitor the network performance and ensure the network security. This paper describes the design and implementation of a distributed network traffic monitoring system based on embedded NetFlow hardware and software engines. The system architecture and design principles were introduced in the paper, some discussions were also presented about the NetFlow-based network monitoring technologies. The system had been successfully used to monitor highspeed campus networks at full wire speed without packet sampling in scenarios where commercial NetFlow collectors could not be used due to their limitations. Results show that this is an effective mechanism to identify, diagnose, and determine controls for network activities in CSCW environments and other network-based applications.

Influence of sintering on quality factor of Ba(Mg/13Nb/23)O3 ceramic

The influences of sintering temperature, soaking time and annealing time on the quality factor of Ba(Mg/13Nb2/3)O3 microwave dielectric ceramic were investigated. The result showed that Qf value increased as the sintering temperature increasing. It was ascribed to the increasing of the relative density and ordering parameter S. The maximum value of Qf, 49500 GHz, was gained at 1550°C. With soaking time increasing, Qf value increased. The increasing of B-site 1:2 ordering degree and grain size should be responsible for the improvement of Qf value. When soaking time was 16 h, Qf value reached 58000 GHz. Annealing time had great effect on Qf value. With annealing time increasing, Qf value increased quickly. This was because of the improvement of B-site 1:2 ordering caused by annealing. A high Qf value, 71500 GHz, was acquired when annealing time was 48 h.

In 2003, a joint research project entitled "Nano and graded thermoelectric materials/Photovoltaic-thermoelectric-wind power generation" is established in cooperation among research institutes from Japan and China. The major research institutes include state key laboratory of advanced technology for materials synthesis and processing (Wuhan University of technology, China), Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China), state key laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine processing (Tsinghua University, China), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA, Japan) and Foundation for Promotion of Japanese Aerospace technology (JAST, Japan). The main aim of this project is to develop a photovoltaic-thermoelectric-wind power generation system with high efficiency solar energy conversion. The key works of the project include: (1) fabrication of high efficiency nano thermoelectric materials with a maximum figure of merit Z≥ 1.3;(2) design and fabrication of nano graded thermoelectric material/component with efficiency conversion larger than 12% for wide temperature range and (3) design and construction of photovoltaic- thermoelectric coupled power generation system. The recent progress about the joint research project is reported in this paper. Emphasis is put on the mechanism, design and fabrication of high efficiency nano graded thermoelectric materials. The future research plan is also mentioned in brief.

Effect of Sm2O3 on the densification and thermal conductivity of spark plasma sintered AIN ceramics

Aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramic is difficult to sinter through conventional sintering processes. Spark plasma sintering (SPS) was used to sinter it in this study. A pulsed direct current was applied to the AlN powder in SPS. It engendered concentrated heating in the sinter, and then accelerated the diffusion and contact of AlN particle surfaces. With sintering additive Sm 2O3, the AlN powder was sintered into near-theoretical density in a considerably shorter time cycle compared with conventional sintering processes. The effects of quantity of additive Sm2O 3 and sintering temperature on densification of AlN samples were investigated. Results indicated that the addition of Sm2O3 enhanced the densification of AlN ceramic and lowered the sintering temperature. The AlN ceramics prepared by SPS method had homogeneous crystals. The crystals grains grew well. The Sm-Al-O compounds were created in grain boundary by reaction between Sm2O3 and Al 2O3 on AlN particle surface during the sintering. The reaction effectively accelerated the diffusion among the AlN grains, speeded the densifications of the sinter. And it was favorable to preserve the integrity of the AlN crystal lattice. As a result, the AlN sinter obtained a good thermal conductivity, which was as high as 150W/(m·K).

Hydrothermal synthesis, crystal structure and characterization of the complex [Cu(C12H8N2) · (H2O)2]SO4

The title complex [Cu(C12H8N2) · (H2O)2]SO4 was synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single crystal structural analysis. The crystal structure indicates that the compound forms a stratiform, built from the SO42- and [Cu(C12H8N2) · (H2O)2]2+ through hydrogen bonds. The chemical formula weight of complex is 375.84. The crystal structure is monoclinic, pace group C2/c with a = 1.485 3(3) nm, b = 1.381 1(3) nm, c = 0.701 0(14) nm, β = 108.650°, V= 1.362 5(15) nm3, Dc = 1.832 g/cm3 ,F(000) = 764, Z = 4,R1 = 0.0290, wR2 = 0.0862. The result of the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis is in agreement with that of IR measurement, both of them show that the Cu2+ is coordinated by two nitrogen and two oxygen. In addition, the thermostability and IR spectral of the compound were discussed.

Transient thermochemical analysis of liquefied petroleum gas vessel under pool fire surrounding

The transient temperature field analysis aims at the thermal response of LPG vessel under pool fire surrounding environment. The finite element analysis method is used to calculate the temperature field. The thermal boundary conditions of LPG vessel are determined according to heat transfer theory and calculated by the software PLGS99. The results show that the maximum temperature gradient of vessel appears near the highest surface where the liquid can reach, and fluctuation of liquid surface is the main reason of high temperature gradient.
