This paper introduces several commonly used constitutive models of SMA materials, expounds the relationship between material temperature, stress and strain from the perspective of one-dimensional model, and establishes the simulation model of reciprocating motion of SMA actuator based on the material parameters obtained from quasi-static mechanical property experiments in the previous paper. A double wire pull SMA actuator is designed and a prototype is made. The output displacement data obtained from the experiment is compared with the established simulation model to prove the accuracy of the simulation process. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Assessing the iron and steel industry's(ISI)impact on climate change and environmental health is vital,particularly in China,where this sector significantly influences air quality and CO_(2)*** is a lack of comprehensive analyses that consider the environmental and health burdens of manufacturing processes for ISI ***,we present an integrated emission inventory that encompasses air pollutants and CO_(2)emissions from 811 ISI enterprises and five key manufacturing processes in *** analysis shows that sintering is the primary source of air pollution in the *** contributes 71%of SO_(2),73%of NO_(x),and 54%of PM_(2.5)*** the other hand,81%of total CO_(2)emissions come from blast ***,the contributions of ISI have resulted in an increase of 3.6 mg m^(-3)in national population-weighted PM_(2.5)concentration,causing approximately 59,035 premature deaths in *** from Hebei,Jiangsu,Shandong,Shanxi,and Inner Mongolia provinces contributed to 48%of PM_(2.5)-related deaths in ***,the transportation of air pollutants across provincial borders highlights a concerning trend of environmental health *** on the research findings,it is crucial for ISI manufacturers to prioritize the removal of outdated production capacities and adopt energy-efficient and advanced techniques,along with ultra-low emission *** is particularly important for those manufacturers with substantial environmental *** transformative actions are essential in mitigating the environmental and health impacts in the affected regions.

The driving characteristics of SMA actuators mainly include the range, force and speed of the actuator, and these driving characteristics are determined by the alloy composition and use conditions. The alloy composition and service conditions affect the stress, strain and phase transformation speed of the SMA wire during the phase transformation, and affect the driving characteristics of the SMA wire. Using the shape memory alloy seat drive element with one-way shape memory effect, two-way drive can be realized under the action of bias force. The driving characteristics of alloy wires under the action of different constant loads and bias springs with different stiffness, including the influence laws of driving displacement, driving force and response time. © 2022 SPIE.

Removal of pharmaceutical in a biogenic/chemical manganese oxide system driven by manganese-oxidizing bacteria with humic acids as sole carbon source

Bioaugmented sand filtration has attracted considerable attention because it can effectively remove contaminants in drinking water without additional chemical reagent *** this study,a synthesized chemical manganese dioxide (MnO_(2)) -coated quartz sand(MnQS) and biogenic manganese oxide (BioMnOx) composite system was proposed to simultaneously remove typical pharmaceutical contaminants and Mn_(2)+.We demonstrated a manganese-oxidizing bacterium,Pseudomonas ***-1,could oxidize Mn_(2)+to generate BioMnOxusing humic acids (HA) as sole carbon *** coaction of MnQS,QJX-1,and the generated BioMnOxin simultaneously removing caffeine and Mn_(2)+in the presence of HA was *** found a synergistic effect between *** and BioMnOxtogether significantly increased the caffeine removal efficiency from 32.8%(MnQS alone) and 21.5%(BioMnOxalone) to 61.2%.Meanwhile,Mn_(2)+leaked from MnQS was rapidly oxidized by QJX-1 to regenerate reactive BioMnOx,which was beneficial for continuous contaminant removal and system *** degradation intermediates of caffeine oxidized by MnQS and BioMnOxwere detected by LC-QTOF-MS analysis,which implied that caffeine was oxidized by a different ***,this work promotes the potential application of bioaugmented sand filtration in pharmaceutical removal in the presence of natural organic matter in drinking water.

Binary logic transmission (BLT) is an emerging automatic transmission. Because of its high transmission efficiency, high power density, strong load capacity and compact structure, it has been widely used in military vehicles and other special vehicles in recent years. The traditional shift schedules will lead to frequent shifts of the thirty-two-speed BLT and cumbersome solutions for the jump points. Therefore, referring to the speed ratio adjustment strategy of the continuously variable transmission, the paper proposes a dynamic speed ratio adjustment strategy and an economic speed ratio adjustment strategy suitable for the thirty-two-speed BLT, which can ensure the power and economy of vehicle and achieve reasonable gear jumping. At the same time, considering the influence of different road conditions on the shift schedule, the paper introduces the road gradient and vehicle mass to modify the above shift schedule, and designs a thirty-two-speed BLT shift schedule based on the man-vehicle-road system. Based on the physical simulation platform of thirty-two-speed BLT, the proposed shift schedule is simulated and verified. The results show that the shift schedule can meet the demand of vehicle power performance and economic performance, solve the problem of frequent shifts, and significantly enhance the vehicle climbing performance, give full play to the backup power of the vehicle, and effectively improve the working condition adaptability of the thirty-two-speed BLT. © 2022 IEEE.

CO_(2)emission inventory provides fundamental data for climate research and emission ***,most global CO_(2)emission inventories were developed with energy statistics from International Energy Agency(IEA)and were available at country level with limited source ***,as the first step toward a high-resolution and dynamic updated global CO_(2)emission database,we developed a data-driven approach to construct seamless and highly-resolved energy consumption data cubes for 208 countries/territories,797 sub-country administrative divisions in 29 countries,42 fuel types,and 52 sectors,with the fusion of activity data from 24 international statistics and 65 regional/local *** CO_(2)emissions from fossil fuel combustion and cement production in 1970–2021 were then estimated with highly-resolved source category(1,484 of total)and sub-country information(797 of total).Specifically,73%of global CO_(2)emissions in 2021 were estimated with sub-country information,providing considerably improved spatial resolution for global CO_(2)emission *** the support of detailed information,the dynamics of global CO_(2)emissions across sectors and fuel types were presented,representing the evolution of global economy and progress of climate *** differences of sectoral contribution were found across sub-country administrative divisions within a given country,revealing the uneven distribution of energy and economic structure among different *** estimates were generally consistent with existing databases at aggregated level for global total or large emitters,while large discrepancies were observed for middle and small *** database,named the Multiresolution Emission Inventory model for Climate and air pollution research(MEIC)is publicly available through http://*** with highly-resolved information and timely update,which provides an independent carbon emission accounting data source for climate rese

A trajectory tracking controller of a drifting vehicle is developed in this paper. To accurately achieve path tracking, a control law is derived from expert driver. The synthetic vehicle course angle and yaw rate is derived. A front tire simplifying assumption and wheel-speed control at rear tires is adopted in the controller. simulation demonstrates good tracking of a trajectory with varying curvature. © 2022 IEEE.

The realization of decision-making, trajectory planning, and motion control of intelligent vehicles highly depends on the precise and continuous position information. To provide reliable pose information during GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems)outage, an integrated position strategy based on the GNSS, INS (Inertial Navigation System), DR (dead reckoning) considering nonholonomic constraints (NHC) was proposed in this paper. First, a positioning algorithm of GNSS/INS was established using an Error state Kalman Filer (ESKF). Nonholonomic constraints and vehicle speed were used to correct the navigation error to improve positioning accuracy. Then, the available time of the algorithm during GNSS signal outage was further extended by designing a DR system based on vehicle dynamics. An Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) was used to process the nonlinear system and the information of wheel speed and front wheel angle were integrated into the system. Finally, the fusion positioning algorithm was validated by NI HIL platform. The results showed that, during GNSS outage, the positioning strategy proposed in this paper could reduce the root means square errors (RMSE) of positioning accuracy, compared to the GNSS/INS positioning algorithm, by 78.2% along x-axis and 83.0% along y-axis. © 2022 IEEE.

Quorum sensing (QS) plays an important role in microbial aggregation control. Recently, the optimization of biological waste treatment systems by QS regulation gained an increasing attention. The effects of QS regulation on treatment performances and biofilm were frequently investigated. To understand the state of art of QS regulation, this review summarizes the methods of QS enhancement and QS inhibition in biological waste treatment systems. Typical QS enhancement methods include adding exogenous QS molecules, adding QS accelerants and cultivating QS bacteria, while typical QS inhibition methods include additions of quorum quenching (QQ) bacteria, QS-degrading enzymes, QS-degrading oxidants, and QS inhibitors. The specific improvements after applying these QS regulation methods in different treatment systems are concluded. In addition, the effects of QS regulation methods on biofilm in biological waste treatment systems are reviewed in terms of biofilm formation, extracellular polymeric substances production, microbial viability, and microbial community. In the end, the knowledge gaps in current researches are analyzed, and the requirements for future study are suggested.

Modeling of contact temperatures and their influence on the tribological performance of PEEK and PTFE in a dual-pin-ondisk tribometer

The direct blending of polyether ether ketone(PEEK)with a solid lubricant such as polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)improves its tribological performance,but compromises its outstanding mechanical properties and *** these negative effects might be circumvented via the hybrid wear method,the influence of the contact temperature between multiple sliding components acting together is not fully ***,an analytical temperature model considering the influence of both micro-and macro-thermal behavior is extended to predict the contact temperature of a dual-pin-on-disk hybrid wear *** interactions between several heat sources are investigated and experimentally *** analytical results show that the nominal temperature rise of the shared wear track is determined by the combined effect of the heat generated by both pin components,while the rise in flash temperature at the region in contact with each pin component is dependent upon its individual characteristics and working ***,while different temperature peaks can coexist in the shared wear track,the maximum value dominates the performance of the *** the experimentally investigated PEEK–PTFE–steel hybrid wear system,the formation of tribofilms is blocked,and the hybrid wear system fails,when the peak temperature exceeds the glass transition temperature of both pins due to an increase in applied load.
