Assessing the effectiveness and mechanisms of Fe/PS, Fe/H_(2)O_(2), and O_(3) treatment for water disinfection: Spotlight on VBNC bacteria

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) exhibit significant potential forwater disinfection dueto their generation of large quantities of highly oxidizing free radicals. However, the neglectof viable but nonculturable (VBNC) cells obscures their true disinfection efficacy and potentialenvironmental health risks. Therefore, the study evaluated the disinfection effectivenessand mechanisms of typical AOPs, including Fe/H_(2)O_(2), Fe/persulfate (PS), and O_(3), fromthe perspective of the production of VBNC bacteria. The results indicate that Fe/PS exhibitsthe strongest bacterial inactivation rate (99.94%), and the cells lose their ability to ***/H_(2)O_(2) and O_(3) induce more cells to enter the VBNC state compared to Fe/PS. Moreover,different AOPs result in varying levels of free radical production and utilization efficiency,with SO(4)^(·−) and O_(3) exhibiting greater selectivity in deactivating bacteria comparedto HO^(·). The inhibition of VBNC bacteria production by Fe/PS treatment may be attributed tothe combined action of HO^(·) and SO(4)^(·−) on microorganisms, leading to oxidative stress andmetabolic disruption in bacteria through the inhibition of biofilm formation and aminoacyltRNAbiosynthesis (p < 0.05), thereby causing direct bacterial death rather than entry intothe VBNC state. In contrast, Fe/H_(2)O_(2) and O_(3) result in the upregulation of the metabolismof alanine, aspartate, and glutamate, as well as styrene degradation capacity by the bacteria,leading to the production of more VBNC bacteria. Overall, the study offers insights intomitigating potential biological risks in water disinfection and developing environmentallyfriendly and efficient disinfection technologies.

A large number of mined out areas have been formed after the continuous mining of minerals, resulting in many potential safety hazards. With the continuous development of artificial intelligence and machine learning in recent years, many researchers have put forward many creative ideas on the intellectualization of goaf transportation system. Lidar is widely used in three-dimensional imaging technology in recent years because of its advantages of small size, high accuracy, and fast imaging. This paper systematically summarizes the contributions and problems of researchers in recent years from three aspects: autonomous navigation of UAVs, point cloud processing, and radar accuracy improvement. In recent years, arcing faults inside large oil-immersed power transformers have been frequent. Suspended bubbles, as the main product of high temperature, high humidity, material aging and cracking gas production inside transformers, are one of the main causes of arcing inside transformers. However, due to the complex structure of the oil channel and the large fluctuation of the internal flow field distribution, the resulting bubble morphology evolution and movement law is not clear. In this paper, the influence of the initial position of bubbles and the relative position between bubbles on the flow field distribution is fully considered, and the dynamic behavior of suspended bubbles in oil under two fluid forms of natural oil circulation and forced oil circulation is simulated and studied by combining laminar and turbulent flow models and bubble force control equations, and the correlation mechanism between suspended bubbles and flow field distribution characteristics is analyzed. The simulation results show that the flow field in the laminar state affects the bubble aggregation and trajectory, while the turbulent state affects the bubble distortion and motion time, and a reasonable model in the simulation of bubble dynamic behavior is more beneficial to improve the simulation accuracy. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Removal of refractory organics and heavy metals in landfill leachate concentrate by peroxi-coagulation process

Landfill leachate is a complex effluent and it is difficult to deal with. Electrochemical methods have been considered as a promising alternative technology for treatment of landfill leachate with refractory organic contaminants and heavy metals. Peroxi-coagulation(PC)process with iron anode and modified graphite felt cathode was developed for efficient landfill leachate concentrate treatment. Compared to electro-Fenton(EF) and electrocoagulation(EC) processes, the PC process was more cost-effective due to the combined action of·OH oxidation and iron hydroxides coagulation. A maximal TOC removal of 77.2% ± 1.4% was obtained after 360 min at initial p H = 5.0 and current density of 10 m A/cm^(2). After the PC process, concentrations of all seven heavy metals in the final effluents were below the allowable emission limits given by the present regulatory standards. The method preference for heavy metal removal was PC > EC > EF. Based on the three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy coupled with regional integration analysis during the PC treatment, the florescence peaks of both humic acids and fulvic acids disappeared after treatment for 360min. Decreasing trends were observed in the fluorescent regional standard volumes for aromatic protein Ⅰ(31.4%), aromatic protein Ⅱ(63.7%), fulvic acid-like(69.5%), soluble microbial by-product-like(75%) and humic acid-like regions(76.3%). The results indicate that comparing to the EF and EC process, the PC process provide a promising and more cost-effective alternative for the treatment of landfill leachate concentrate.

After the distributed power supply connects to the new power system, the power grid scheduling is affected by voltage flash during the grid scheduling, resulting in an increase in operating costs of the power grid. It is proposed that the high -penetration distribution power supply connects the diversified electric energy dual -layer scheduling method of the new power system. After mastering the current adjustment of the load and credible contribution information of the power grid, this paper builds a multi -purpose power system diversified power dual-layer scheduling model based on multi -target optimization. The upper layer scheduling target of this model is to optimize the quality of diversified electricity. The lower layer scheduling goal is to maximize the economic benefits of the new power system. The minimum value method can be solved to achieve the upper and lower target functions. The system schedules the optimal solution to ensure that under the access to high penetration distributed power supply, to ensure the maximization goal of the economic benefits of the power grid, it reasonably dispatches the displacement of the distributed power supply, and realizes the optimization of the diversified power quality of the new power system. The experimental results show that under the scheduling of this method, the voltage offset of the photovoltaic grid system is reduced by 0.60 MV. The operating cost of the new power system is also effectively controlled. Compared with that before the scheduling, this method is available. © 2024 IEEE.

An Improved Collaborative Estimation Method and Validation of SOC and Soh for Lithium-Ion Power Batteries

Accurately estimating the state of Charge (SOC) and state of Health (SOH) of automotive power batteries is an important evaluation indicator for lithium battery management systems, which is related to the reliability and safety of battery operation. Aiming at the shortcomings of the existing researches, a multi-time scale SOC and SOH estimation method is proposed, which considers the parameter variation characteristics, and an improved verification method is used to verify the algorithm. Firstly, the sensitivity of several parameter identification methods to battery parameter identification was studied, which provides guidance for the formulation of joint estimation algorithm. Then, a joint estimation method combining double adaptive Kalman filter and improved coyote optimization algorithm is designed to estimate parameters and states on three time scales. Finally, a progressive verification method combining the ideal data with the measured data is proposed. The results show that the estimation accuracy of the proposed method is higher than that of existing methods. The estimated error of SOC is less than 2.6% and that of SOH is less than 1.5% under different temperatures and battery aging conditions, which proves that the proposed joint estimation method has high computational accuracy. © 2024, The Authors. Designing a data-driven predictive controller for lateral stability of vehicles on compacted-snow rutted roads, especially when the data is subjected to non-stationary noise disturbances, is a significant challenge. This paper introduces a novel subspace predictive equation construction method that incorporates filtering using the inverse of a first-order disturbance model. Based on this, a filtering data-driven predictive controller is designed. The proposed method is tested through numerical simulations and MATLAB/CarSim co-simulation. simulation results show that the proposed subspace predictive equation with filtering effectively mitigates the variance and bias introduced by non-stationary noise. The co-simulation results demonstrate that the controller ensures the stability and robustness of the vehicle system. © 2024 IEEE.
