The growing penetration of renewables calls for finer temporal resolutions of the day-ahead unit commitment (DA-UC) problem in order to accommodate the fluctuations and improve the performance of UC schedules, leading to the expansion of the DA-UC problem scale. However, due to its high computational burden, the viability of adopting larger UC models in practice becomes a challenge. In this paper, an adaptive time period aggregation strategy and a corresponding DA-UC model are proposed to reduce the model scale while preserving feasibility and accuracy. The aggregation strategy integrates the statistical characteristics of net demand with the operational characteristics of thermal units to effectively capture the consistency in on/off statuses. Case study based on the IEEE 118-bus system validates that, combined with a post-processing procedure, the proposed strategy and model can provide near-optimal UC schedules with approximately 5 times acceleration for various demand profiles, enhancing computational efficiency. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. To improve the tracking trajectory accuracy as well as driving stability of autonomous vehicles, an autonomous vehicle lateral-longitudinal hierarchical controller based on linear quadratic regulator and model predictive control is proposed. In the lateral controller, the optimal front wheel steering angle is solved by establishing a dynamics model based on the tracking error and using the linear quadratic regulator control method to achieve steering and trajectory tracking of the vehicle;In the longitudinal controller, model predictive control method is used to design the controller, and the tracking of longitudinal speed is gradually realized through hierarchical control. Through joint simulation experiments, the results show that the hierarchical controller can effectively control the precise tracking trajectory and longitudinal speed of the vehicle, which greatly improves the driving stability and driving safety of the autonomous vehicle. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Half-wave commutated modular multilevel converter (HWC-MMC) is suitable for high-voltage large-capacity AC-AC conversion, and an appropriate capacitor voltage balancing strategy is essential. This paper analyzes the condition of capacitor voltage balancing and proposes a capacitor voltage balancing strategy based on optimal zero-sequence voltage injection using the model predictive control. Finally, the simulation is carried out to verify the proposed strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

Tracking control on roads of autonomous and connected flying automobiles (ACFA), is critical for safety, particularly in emergencies. In these situations, the ACFA must either generate its trajectory in real-time (for instance, to execute an evasive maneuver if an obstacle is detected) or obtain trajectory data from external sources. Generally, the ACFA receives this trajectory information as GPS time samples. However, the feedback control scheme must compensate for the ACFA's lateral speed data, which is not directly accessible. In this paper, we propose a dual-mode approach to design a tracking control scheme for an ACFA, which is achieved through three steps: (1) Using limited preview information from GPS waypoint samples, we calculate the trajectory's radii of curvature with “least-square” estimation, (2)we design a linear model predictive control(MPC) with Kalman filter (KF) for high tracking performance, and(3) When high-level control fails, by using errors as the position, heading, and heading rate we design a feedback control strategy with a fixed structure to track the desired trajectory by calculating stabilizing gains. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is demonstrated through virtual simulation results.

The conventional pumping unit lacks the ability to continuously adjust input power during pumping operations, and exhibits poor adaptability when integrating new energy sources into the grid. Automated vehicles should be tested before they can be driven on the road, and the data collection and scenario generation is of great significance for the functional verification and development of automated vehicles. This research focuses on the methods for data collection and scenario generation. The data collection system is established to form industry recognized standards for the data collection. The data collection platform uses vehicles which are equipped with sensors. Based on functions of automated vehicles, functional scenarios, logical scenarios and specific scenarios are established in sequence. Specific scenarios are obtained by Monte Carlo random sampling with the probability density distribution to improve the efficiency of simulation testings. Results show that the method of data collection and scenario generation is reasonable and the scenarios based on the real world can be generated to verify the effectiveness of the automated vehicles. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The water contamination on the side windows of moving vehicles is a crucial issue in improving the driving safety and the *** this paper,an effective optimization method is proposed to reduce the water contamination on the side windows of *** accuracy and the efficiency of the numerical simulation are improved by using the lattice Boltzmann method,and the Lagrangian particle tracking *** parameters are constructed on the basis of the occurrence of the water deposition on a vehicle’s side *** water contamination area of the side window and the aerodynamic drag are considered simultaneously in the design process;these two factors are used to form the multi-objective optimization function in the genetic algorithm(GA)*** approximate model,the boundary-seeded domain method,and the GA method are combined in this study to enhance the optimization *** optimization,the optimal parameters for the A-pillar section are determined by setting the boundary to an area of W=7.77 mm,L=1.27 mm and H=11.22 *** side window’s soiling area in the optimized model is reduced by 66.93%,and the aerodynamic drag is increased by 0.41%only,as compared with the original *** is shown that the optimization method can effectively solve the water contamination problem of side windows.
