In this paper, a novel refrigerant-based cold plate with a variable-area runner structure design is proposed for thermal management of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicle. Numerical simulations are used to investigate the impacts of the runner structural parameters and flow boiling parameters on the cold plate's performance, and these are compared with a conventional cold plate featuring constant-area runners. The findings indicate that the heat transfer characteristics of small-size square runners are equivalent to those of circular tubes. In two-phase flow, the runner structural parameters have a significant influence on energy consumption and a minor influence on battery cooling effectiveness. Conversely, flow boiling parameters play a critical role in the battery cooling effect. Furthermore, the designed cold plate structure is a compromise in terms of thermal characteristics, energy characteristics, and lightweight index. The new cold plate design concept results in a 13.5% decrease in energy consumption compared to the original cold plate. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In recent years, Fenhe River Basin (FRB) wetlands have been facing severe challenges due to climate change and human activities. It was of great significance to understand the dynamic changes of FRB wetlands and their driving factors for ecological protection. Based on the land use data, runoff, rainfall and GDP data of FRB from 1980 to 2020, the evolution characteristics and driving factors of wetland pattern in FRB were analyzed. The results showed that the wetland types in FRB mainly included paddy, reservoir, river, beach and marsh. Among them, natural wetlands accounted for 72.46 %, and constructed wetlands accounted for 27.53 %. The main types of wetlands in FRB were river, reservoirs and beach, which account for 92.26 % of the whole wetland area. However, the dominant position of reservoir patch was more obvious than the others during 1980–2020. Landscape index showed that the shape of landscape tended to be regular and became more fragmentation. The transfer between wetlands and other land use types mainly occurred in the northern and southern parts of the FRB, and the main conversion types were occurred between dry land and wetlands, grassland and wetlands. Both natural and human factors drove the evolution pattern of wetlands, but the emphases were different. Runoff had a significant effect on wetland pattern at landscape level, while rainfall had a more significant effect on wetland evolution at class level. Urbanization rate and GDP had important effects on the evolution of wetland pattern at both class and landscape levels. © 2024 The Authors

The task scheduling problem in power systems is complex, especially when communication costs exceed computation costs. This paper proposes an improved HEFT algorithm with a node merging mechanism, merging nodes through hierarchical traversal to assign high-communication-cost tasks to the same processor, reducing communication overhead. Experiments with 499-dimensional and 1614-dimensional matrices from the power system show that the improved algorithm reduces completion time by 5ms and 2ms, respectively, compared to standard HEFT. © 2024 IEEE.

Catalytic solvent regeneration is considered a promising solution to address the high heat duty of amine-based CO2 capture, urgently requiring for acid catalysts with strong activity and durability for practice application. In this work, feasible Zr/Al2O3 catalysts was proposed by incorporating well-distributed zirconia (ZrO2) nanoparticles within mesoporous alumina to construct stable active sites through mesoporous confinement and the strong metal oxide-support interaction. Performance experiments showed that the maximum carbamate decomposition desorption rate using Zr/Al2O3 increased by 178% compared to the catalyst-free case, resulting in approximately 27% lower relative heat duty. Bench-scale testing with continuous CO2 absorption and desorption demonstrated an optimized capture efficiency of 54.2% achievable with pelletized Zr/Al2O3, which was 12.5% higher than the blank case during the 11-h continuous testing. A 4-weeks hydrothermal testing indicated that the catalysts had minimal impact on solvent degradation, confirming the excellent adaptability of Zr/Al2O3 in an alkaline amine-based solvent for CO2 capture. © 2023, The Authors. In this paper, the effects of TiC nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of the K465 superalloy were investigated. The elongation of the K465 alloy was improved by adding TiC nanoparticles without ultimate tensile strength reduction. Adding TiC nanoparticles can also effectively refine grain size and influence dendrite morphology. Moreover, the addition of TiC nanoparticles also led to the change of carbide morphology. The improvement of elongation was attributed to the refined grains and changed the morphology of carbides. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation (HCO) is a promising technology for advanced wastewater treatment and water reuse. The efficient decomposition of O3 into reactive oxygen species (ROS) and easy recycling capability are essential for HCO catalysts. In this work, Mn loaded Carbon-Silica-Membrane (Mn-CSM) has been designed and synthesized by electrospinning for HCO process. The high specific surface area and abundant pore size distribution of Mn-CSM elevated the exposure of active sites. The packed reactor construction promoted the utilization of O3. The experiments verify the Mn-CSM HCO process is effective for oxalate removal and coal gasification wastewater treatment, which is essential for water reuse. 93% of oxalate was degraded through Mn-CSM HCO process in 60 min, while the effluent of coal gasification wastewater after HCO treatment decreased from 105 mg L⁻1 to 42 mg L⁻1 in 60 min. The results also showed that the Mn-CSM HCO had a great removal rate for fluorescent components and other dissolved organic matters such as proteins and humic acids. Furthermore, multiple-cycle experiment demonstrated the higher mechanical stability of Mn-CSM in comparison with Mn loaded Carbon-Membrane (Mn-CM). The introduction of SiO2 particles in the carbon fibers were proven to promote the distribution of fluid flow field through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. The separation of hydrophobic and hydrophilic substances in the wastewater proved that Mn-CSM HCO process had a higher removal for hydrophilic substance due to the higher hydrophilicity brought up by SiO2 particles. This study provides evidence that the packed membrane structure Mn-CSM for HCO process is a prospective catalyst for its high catalytic activity, stability and recyclable capability. © 2023, The Authors.
