With the construction of new power system, high-capacity renewable energy sources including wind power are integrated into the power system, whose transient response characteristics have a significant impact on the safe and stable operation of both renewable energy sources and power system. Real-time simulation has become an effective method to study interaction between high-capacity renewable energy sources and power system because of its high accuracy and reliability, and precise wind turbine real-time simulation model is of great significance in research mentioned above. Therefore, the wind turbine control hardware in loop (CHIL) real-time simulation method is proposed in the paper, whose feasibility and accuracy are also verified by comparing simulation data from CHIL platform and on-site testing data. It's further used in the analysis of large-scale offshore wind farm cluster and connected power system as a practical reference case. © 2023 IEEE.

Antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) existing in livestock and poultry manure have the risk to spread and proliferate. This might endanger people's health. The common treatment of livestock and poultry manure is anaerobic digestion. But the change of ARGs during anaerobic digestion require further study, and the effect of digestate fertilization to the antibiotic resistance of cropland soil is still unclear. This study investigated the pig manure, biogas liquid, biogas residue, and cropland soils fertilized with and without digestate. The results showed that, the relative abundance of ARGs in biogas residue was much higher than other samples. The average relative abundance was 1.46X10"1 copy ratio (copy of ARG/copy of 16S rRNA gene), and the total relative abundance was 3.07 copy ratio. There were 21 ARGs detected in the 5 samples. 11 of them were shared by the 5 samples. The main ARGs were aminoglycoside, chloramphenicol, sulfonamide, tetracycline, and multidrug. Aminoglycoside had the highest relative abundance, and the total relative abundance in all samples was 1.18 copy ratio. Anaerobic digestion increased the total relative abundance of ARGs in pig manure from 1.14x10-1 to 1.70xl0-1 copy ratio. Fertilization of digestate increased the total relative abundance of AGRs in soil from 3.27x10-1 to 7.29X10-1 copy ratio. © 2021 EDP Sciences. All rights reserved.

A deep learning network is implemented for the phase segmentation of Ni/YSZ anode of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), as manual segmentation of focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) images is time-consuming. Segmentation is performed on two samples with different volume ratios of Ni to YSZ. The mean intersection over union (mIoU) reaches 0.9363, indicating good agreement between the predicted images and the manually segmented images. Furthermore, the impact of image augmentation on segmentation accuracy is investigated, and it is found that augmentation is necessary when the number of images in the training set is small or the training and testing sets come from different samples. Furthermore, mixing a sixth of manually segmented images from a new sample into the training set can significantly improve the accuracy of automated segmentation for the new sample. This strategy reduces the number of images requiring manual segmentation and improves processing efficiency. © The Electrochemical Society.

Robust trajectory tracking control for autonomous vehicle subject to velocity-varying and uncertain lateral disturbance

Autonomous vehicles are the most advanced intelligent vehicles and will play an important role in reducing traffic acci-dents, saving energy and reducing emission. Motion control for trajectory tracking is one of the core issues in the field of autonomous vehicle research. According to the characteristics of strong nonlinearity, uncertainty and changing longitudi-nal velocity for autonomous vehicles at high speed steering condition, the robust trajectory tracking control is studied. Firstly, the vehicle system models are established and the novel target longitudinal velocity planning is carried out. This velocity planning method can not only ensure that the autonomous vehicle operates in a strong nonlinear coupling state in bend, but also easy to be constructed. Then, taking the lateral location deviation minimizing to zero as the lateral control objective, a robust active disturbance rejection control path tracking controller is designed along with an extended state observer which can deal with the varying velocity and uncertain lateral disturbance effectively. Additionally, the feedfor-ward-feedback control method is adopted to control the total tire torque, which is distributed according to the steering characteristics of the vehicle for additional yaw moment to enhance vehicle handing stability. Finally, the robustness of the proposed controller is evaluated under velocity-varying condition and sudden lateral disturbance. The single-lane change maneuver and double-lane change maneuver under vary longitudinal velocity and different road adhesions are both simulated. The simulation results based on Matlab/Simulink show that the proposed controller can accurately observe the external disturbances and have good performance in trajectory tracking and handing stability. The maximum lateral error reduces by 0.18 meters compared with a vehicle that controlled by a feedback-feedforward path tracking controller in the single-lane change maneuver. An MPPT control strategy based on the combination of adaptive nonlinear mutation particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed. The algorithm uses the tanh function to control the inertia weight, balances the ability of particles to optimize globally and locally, uses the ISRU function to control the learning factor, balances the weight relationship between individual learning and social learning, and improves the convergence speed of the algorithm. The nonlinear Cauchy mutation operation is proposed to expand the scope of optimization; Finally, the perturbation and observation method is used to track locally near the maximum power point to reduce power oscillation. The simulation validates that the photovoltaic MPPT control strategy based on the improved particle swarm algorithm can effectively get the maximum power point under shading conditions and improve the output efficiency of the PV array.

With the further development of "double high" characteristics of power system, the traditional stability problem dominated by synchronous generator has gradually evolved into a new stability problem dominated by power electronic equipment control. In addition, different types of failure problems can occur in wind power systems. In order to achieve multi-objective coordinated and stable operation of high proportion wind power system, a damping control method with parameters tuning is proposed, which includes the design of filtering link and proportional amplification link. Among them, the key parameters of the proportional link are adjusted. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control method is verified by simulation tests. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Insight into the Deterioration Mechanism of Gas Diffusion Electrode During Long-Term Electrosynthesis of Hydrogen Peroxide Under Industrially Relevant Current Densities

The long-term stability of gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) is critical for industrial H2O2 electrosynthesis from two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e-ORR), but has rarely been investigated. Herein, we evaluated the stability of carbon black-polytetrafluoroethylene (CB-PTFE) based GDEs during H2O2 electrosynthesis in sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) electrolytes under industrially relevant conditions. Results show that the GDEs maintained stable H2O2 production with Faradaic efficiencies (FEs) of ~75% for ~300 h under 150 mA/cm2. However, FEs then declined gradually to eventually ~15% at 840 h, after which the GDE failed due to water flooding. Increasing applied current density to 200 mA/cm2 accelerated the deterioration process and caused electrode failure after 350 h operation. Characterizations of the GDEs used for varying durations indicate that the deterioration of GDEs is mainly caused by oxidation of CB catalysts, defluorination of PTFE, and intercalation of Na in CB particles during H2O2 electrosynthesis. These three interrelating mechanisms gradually decreased the hydrophobicity, the 2e-ORR activity and selectivity of GDEs, and increased the porosity of GDEs. These changes in turn promoted H2O2 decomposition and progressive water intrusion into the internal pores of GDEs during H2O2 electrosynthesis, thus causing the gradual decreases of FEs and electrode flooding. Due to the gradual changes of GDE properties, it is challenging to maintain long-term stable H2O2 production under industrially relevant current densities. More studies are needed to improve the design and operation of GDEs to resolve the deterioration process of GDEs and thus extend their lifetime during H2O2 electrosynthesis. © 2024, The Authors. Real-world emissions from China IV and some China V heavy-duty diesel vehicles (HDDVs) equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) probably fail to mitigate nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions as expected. Meanwhile, these SCR-equipped HDDVs might emit excessive ammonia (NH3). To better understand the NOX and NH3 emissions from typical HDDVs in China, seventeen in-use HDDVs with various emission-control technologies were tested by using laboratory chassis dynamometers. The results indicated that individual NOX and NH3 emissions from HDDV fleets widely varied owing to differences in aftertreatment performance. China V and VI HDDVs with effectively functioning SCRs could substantially control their NOX emissions to be below the corresponding emission limits but with a potential risk of high NH3 emissions caused by diesel exhaust fluid overdosing. Furthermore, higher vehicle speed and load mass resulted in lower NOX emissions and possibly higher NH3 emissions from HDDVs with effectively functioning SCR systems, while higher NOX emissions from tampered- and non-SCR HDDVs. NOX emissions from China VI HDDVs were more sensitive to cold starts compared to China V and earlier vehicles, but there was no significant discrepancy in NH3 emissions between cold- and hot-start tests © 2023, The Authors. Climate change and rapid urbanization are pressing environmental and social concerns, with approximately 56% of the global population living in urban areas. This number is expected to rise to 68% by 2050, leading to the expansion of cities and encroachment upon natural areas, including wetlands, causing their degradation and fragmentation. To mitigate these challenges, green and blue infrastructures (GBIs), such as constructed wetlands, have been proposed to emulate and replace the functions of natural wetlands. This study evaluates the potential of eight constructed wetlands near Beijing, China, focusing on their ecosystem services (ESs), cost savings related to human health, growing/maintenance expenses, and disservices using an emergy-based assessment procedure. The results indicate that all constructed wetlands effectively purify wastewater, reducing nutrient concentrations (e.g., total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total suspended solids). Among the studied wetlands, the integrated vertical subsurface flow constructed wetland (CW-4) demonstrates the highest wastewater purification capability (1.63E+14 sej/m^(2)/yr) compared to other types (6.78E+13 and 2.08E+13 sej/m^(2)/yr). Additionally, constructed wetlands contribute to flood mitigation, groundwater recharge, wildlife habitat protection, and carbon sequestration, resembling the functions of natural wetlands. However, the implementation of constructed wetlands in cities is not without challenges, including greenhouse gas emissions, green waste management, mosquito issues, and disturbances in the surrounding urban areas, negatively impacting residents. The ternary phase diagram reveals that all constructed wetlands provide more benefits than costs and impacts.
