Mineralization of benzene,toluene,and xylene (BTX) with high efficiency at room temperature is still a challenge for the purification of indoor *** this work,a foam Ti/Sb-Sn O2/β-Pb O_(2)anode catalyst was prepared for electrocatalytically oxidizing gaseous toluene in an all-solid cell at ambient *** complex Ti/Sb-Sn O_(2)/β-Pb O_(2)anode,which was prepared by sequentially deposing Sb-Sn O_(2)and β-Pb O_(2)on a foam Ti substrate,shows high electrocatalytic oxidation efficiency of toluene (80%) at 7 hr of reaction and high CO_(2)selectivity (94.9%) under an optimized condition,i.e.,a cell voltage of 2.0 V,relative humidity of60%and a flow rate of 100 m L/*** better catalytic performance can be ascribed to the high production rate of·OH radicals from discharging adsorbed water and the inhibition of oxygen evolution on the surface of foam Ti/Sb-Sn O_(2)/β-Pb O_(2)anode when compared with the foam Ti/Sb-Sn O_(2)*** results demonstrate that prepared complex electrodes can be potentially used for electrocatalytic removal of gaseous toluene at room temperature with a good performance.

Long Term Impact of Electrical Resistance Heating on Soil Bacterial Community Based on a Field Test

Thermal remediation is an effective technology for organic contaminant remediation. However, the application of thermal remediation may have negative effects on soil properties and ecological functions, which requires further investigation. Based on a pilot test of electrical resistance heating remediation (ERH), soil samples were collected at different locations after heating for 116 days. Most soil physicochemical properties except total organic carbon were less affected by the heating temperature difference. Application of high temperature increased microbial abundance but inhibited alpha diversity of the bacterial community. More significant changes in microbial communities were observed at temperatures above 60°C. The genera mainly affected by heating temperature included Flavobacteria, Brockia, and S085, while the increase in temperature also inhibited the abundance of nitrochlorobenzene functional genes. At 140 days after the end of the pilot test, the bacterial community affected by thermal remediation could recover effectively, and the recovery of the bacterial community was not affected by temperature difference during the heating period. This study provides valuable field evidence of the long term impact of soil ERH treatment on soil properties and microbial communities, and provide further references for optimization of remediation performance with coupled technologies. © 2024, The Authors. This study introduced a multi-scheme coupled Gaussian emission inversion method, and its application to CH4 emission measurements of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in urban Beijing, China. Using a mobile laboratory, the CH4 plume lateral dispersion parameters downwind of multiple CNG stations were measured, and were shown to increase rapidly within a downwind distance of 200 m, reaching a plateau at a downwind distance of 250 m. Considering the complex topography and source nature of CNG stations, an ensemble of four Gaussian dispersion schemes was used, by comparing scheme-estimated and measured to quantify the bias and uncertainty of each scheme. Of the four, the Taylor scheme showed consistent overestimation of (ratio = 2.35). The Briggs scheme showed good agreement with in downwind distance larger than 200 m, and underestimation of for shorter distances. The Hanna scheme behaved poorly in depicting the decreasing pattern of plume growth rate, and showed greater underestimation of than the Briggs scheme. Investigation into Design Strategy of Aluminum Alloy-Cfrp Hybrid Tube Under Multi-Angle Compression Loading

The metal/CFRP energy-absorbing tube is a lightweight structure with high energy absorption efficiency, but a reasonable design strategy is essential to give full play to the performance. Based on the finite element method, the energy absorption behavior of the AL/CFRP hybrid tube under multi-angle compression conditions is studied to explore the energy absorption contribution mechanism of two materials. First, a comparative study of different tube configurations is implemented based on the validated finite element (FE) model. It is found that aluminum alloy is the main source of energy absorbed by the hybrid tube, and carbon fiber can induce a stable deformation mode of the hybrid tube by imposing lateral deformation constraints on the AL tube. Then, a detailed parametric study is performed to explore the influences of the winding angle of CFRP, the thickness ratio of constituent materials, and the diameter of the hybrid tube on the comprehensive energy absorption capacity and energy absorption contribution of CFRP under multi-angle compression conditions. Finally, an application recommendation for AL/CFRP hybrid tube is given to provide a reasonable design strategy. Furthermore, a crashworthiness comparison of the proposed AL/CFRP hybrid tube and typical energy-absorbing structures is conducted to reveal the superiority of the AL/CFRP hybrid tube through the proposed design strategies in the energy absorption capacity and manufacturability. This research provides valuable suggestions and guidelines for designing multi-material energy-absorbing components facing complex loading conditions. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Synergistic reinforcement of dual-phase particles with different sizes was always considered superior to single-phase reinforcement in composites, but there were few studies to investigate the role of each part in enhancing properties. In this work, 40 vol.% (TiB2p-TiCp)/Al-Cu-Mg composites with different proportions of TiB2p and TiCp (3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3), were fabricated by the combustion synthesis to contrast the strengthening effect of dual-phase particles from the interface stability and the characteristics of dual-phase particles. Calculated by first principle, TiB2 (3.12 J/m2) presented better interfacial stability with Al matrix than TiC (1.61 J/m2). Under the circumstance of the same volume fraction, the composites with a higher proportion of TiB2p usually show higher yield and maximum compressive strength and effectively prevent crack growth of composites. However, excess submicron sized TiB2p tends to produce cracks at the hexagon edge when the loads were applied and formed crack loops delaminating materials. When the TiB2p/TiCp proportion was 1:1, plasticity and strength were beneficially balanced at the elevated temperature. Otherwise, the composite with TiB2: TiC=3:1 possessed the best wear resistance (coefficient of friction: 0.22) at a sliding velocity of 0.32 mm/s, 30N load) among other composites ([[EQUATION]],[[EQUATION]],[[EQUATION]], and [[EQUATION]]) at 473 K, which reduced 45%, 64%, 73% and 86%, respectively. The main wear mechanism was abrasive wear when the TiB2 proportion was dominant. Submicron sized TiB2p with better interface bonding can keep the rigidity of the composites to resist the plastic flow, while TiC nanoparticles are easier to be extracted during the wear process. © 2024, The Authors. In winter, China has a wide range and a long time of snow. The types of roads encountered by vehicles in a snow and ice environment are complex and changeable. At the same time, reducing the road adhesion coefficient will make it easier for the tire force to reach the saturation state, resulting in the decline of vehicle braking performance and handling performance, which poses a severe threat to driving safety. This paper establishes an integrated vehicle dynamics model with four-wheel torque as control input and yaw rate, sideslip angle, and four-wheel speed as output. Considering the yaw stability of the vehicle body and the tracking ability of the wheel slip ratio, the nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) is used to optimize the wheel torque and improve the driving stability of the vehicle under extreme conditions. Also, the wheel slip rate remains stable, establishes the torque centralized rolling optimization problem, and determines the four-wheel torque. Off-line simulation shows that the control method is auxiliary in driving low road adhesion caused by ice and snow, ensuring the vehicles' safe and stable driving and reducing the probability of traffic accidents. © 2022 IEEE.

Combustion and Emissions Characteristics of Methanol/Gasoline Cisi Engines Under Different Injection Modes

Methanol was a promising alternative fuel for Spark Ignition (SI) engines;but the preferable injection mode for methanol/gasoline engines was rarely reported. Thus, the comparison of the combustion and emissions characteristics of different injection modes were studied in a methanol/gasoline Combined Injection Spark Ignition (CISI) engine with methanol ratios changing from 0% to 100%. The results showed that the MDI + GPI injection mode yielded higher engine torque, larger combustion pressure, shorter flame propagation duration, larger HRR, and lower cyclic variation. Moreover, NOx emissions in MDI + GPI injection mode were lower;while slightly higher HC and CO emissions were produced, particularly for methanol ratios smaller than 60%. Both the Accumulation Mode (AM) and Nucleation Mode (NM) Particle Numbers (PN) from MDI + GPI injection mode were lower than that of MPI + GDI mode when methanol ratio was smaller than 60%. The particle size distribution in MDI + GPI mode followed an unimodal nucleation pattern peaking at around 17.78 nm;however, a bimodal distribution pattern across NM and AM can be observed for MPI + GDI mode. M60 was the upper limit of effective combustion improvement and PN emissions reduction in both injection modes. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Dimethyl ether (DME) was promising to enhance engine working capacity and suppress engine-out emissions. The lean burn technology can improve the thermal efficiency of engines, but higher particles were produced. In this study, the combustion and emissions characteristics of gasoline combined injection engine with DME Direct Injection (DDI) in lean burn conditions were experimentally investigated. The results showed that DDI enrichment yielded higher IMEP, shorter flame development duration and lower cyclic variation. The DDI enrichment did not cause higher HC, CO and NOx emissions, which was different from DME enrichment at the intake port. Large DME blending ratio (Φ DME ≥ 15%) was required for the suppression of PN emissions for λ > 1.2. The particle size distribution followed an unimodal nucleation pattern for different DME ratios and λ s. Changing λ s did not alter the size of primary particle, d0;whereas the size became larger when Φ DME ≥ 15%. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
