To improve the shift quality of vehicle with clutchto-clutch gear shifts, a nonlinear controller is designed for the clutch slip control during the shift inertia phase of an Automatic Transmission(AT). Backstepping technique is used to deduce the control algorithm. Model uncertainties including steady state errors and unmodelled dynamics are also considered as additive disturbance inputs and the controller is designed such that the error dynamics is input-to-state stable(ISS). Lookup tables, which are widely used to represent complex nonlinear characteristics of engine systems, appear in their original form in the designed clutch slip controller. Finally, the designed controller is tested on an AMESim powertrain simulation model. Comparisons with an existing linear algorithm are given as well.

The properties of auxiliary brake and the influences of auxiliary brake to car performance are introduced. The engine brake characters and its influence factors are explained, and the engine brake performance experiment is expounded. It is discussed that the necessity of control CVT ratio during engine braking. The conception of setting vehicle velocity during engine brakes is proposed, the engine object speed is estimated through the setting vehicle velocity, the object ratio of CVT is calculated with the engine object speed. With PID algorithm, the current ratio tracks the object one. This method solves the problem of difficulty to confirm object engine speed without throttle opening signal inputs. Finally, a simulation model of car with CVT is established, the simulate result shows that the CVT ratio control strategy during engine braking is valid.

Misfire detection is an important part of on-board diagnostics (OBD) system which is widely used at present. There are several methods to detect misfire, and the method of misfire detection based on engine speed is the most popular one, even though it cannot detect misfire very well when engine speed is high. An improvement to the method of misfire detection based on engine speed using wavelet algorithm is presented in this paper, and it is validated on a high speed four cycle engine. The test results show that the improved method can detect misfire accurately even when the engine speed is very high.

In this study, we describe a model based fault tolerant control method for steer-by-wire system. First of all general redundancy schemes and current works for steer-by-wire fault tolerant control systems are examined. Then the paper focuses on the fault tolerant control methods of key sensors and DC motors for steer-by-wire system. With the aim to provide a steady and reliable fault tolerant control algorithm we synthesize Adaptive Fading Kalman Filter and fault eigenvectors as a framework to establish the fault tolerant control system. The effectiveness of this research is demonstrated by simulation. Finally key innovations of the fault tolerant control method are discussed.

The idle speed control is one of the most generic and basic automotivecontrol problems. In this paper, the engine idle speed control problem comes down to optimization problem with input and state constraints. The controller based the quasiinfinite horizon nonlinear model predictive control(NMPC)methodology is designed to regulate the engine speed as close as possible to a reference value. The simulation results show that the controller can improve the dynamic performance of system and good control effect can be obtained as well as satisfying the system constraints.

Dynamic model based vehicle state variables observer is a step towards economical on-board sensing system. However a complex model always leads to a control system with a poor real-time performance, while a simple model cannot exhibit real characteristics of a vehicle. In order to make an accurate and sententious estimate for yaw rate and side slip angle, an ameliorated 2-DOF bicycle model containing UniTire model is introduced. Then two observers based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) are introduced. And validity of the two algorithms is verified by simulation test and contrast is brought out respectively. The simulation results show that the UKF based observer performs better in accuracy and computing speed.

Firstly, the enveloping of the pneumatic tire was tested and the quasi-static response of the pneumatic tire running over the typical unevenness was analyzed, and then the effective height and effective angle of the arbitrary short wavelength unevenness were calculated by the morphology filtering. Secondly, the simulations were compared with the results of the SWIFT and the experiments. The outcome demonstrates that this calculating method is feasible, accurate. Finally, the in-plane UniTire Durability model and the calculating methods of the two-dimensional effective road were connected with the Simulink in order to build a simple UniTire Durability tire model test platform. The simulating inputs according to the actual experiments were instituted and the simulations under these behaviors were compared with the experimental data. The simulation of the tire running over the rectangular unevenness is successful.

The basic principle of statistical energy analysis (SEA) was demonstrated, some domestic car was divided to 41 subsystems using SEA, and the car 3D model was established. Input parameters of regular-shape subsystems were computed using analytical method, modal density of the complex structure subsystem was tested by admittance method, and damped loss factor of the complex structure subsystem was also tested by steady energy stream method. The coupling loss factor of structure-structure, structure-cavity, and cavity-cavity was computed. Engine excitation and road excitation were measured by road experimentation, and sound excitation of engine compartment was measured in the anechoic chamber. The CFD model of the car was established, and the exterior wind excitation was simulated and computed with the CFD model. Finally, the car SEA model was established, 1/3 octave band spectrum of the car interior noise was predicted, and contrasted with experimentation result, credibility of the SEA model was confirmed. The results show that the model can meet the demand of middle-high frequency noise prediction in the car development and design stage.

A graphic method on automatic transmission shift schedules was presented. With the combination of vehicle driven force curves and engine characteristic curves in one graphic, the vehicle and engine status before and after gear shift can be compared and analyzed, the optimistic vehicle dynamic and economic shift schedule can be deducted easily and efficiently, the influence of shift schedules in different modes on vehicle performance can also be analyzed correspondently. The problem, which was difficult to get precise automatic transmission shift schedule through analysis, was solved by this research. This method can provide significant help on the improvement of automatic transmission performance and development.

The advantage of hybrid programming of C+ + and MATLAB is both the powerful function of character operating in C+ + language and the convenience of matrix treatment in MATLAB. As the result, the mix-language programming is applied in structure reanalysis using combined approximations method. It is efficient and convenient to reanalyze the structure by running the application in ANSYS, thus the secondary development of ANSYS is achieved. At the same time, it provides a powerful approach to reanalyze large-scale structures.
