A series of sorbents for SO2 in flue gas were prepared from hydrated lime and blast furnace slag using a factorial experiment design. It is found that the reaction between hydrated lime and blast furnace slag is fast. The reactivities of the as-prepared sorbents are higher than those of hydrated lime alone due to the formation of calcium silicate hydrates, and hence the utilization of hydrated lime as well as the Ca in the blast furnace slag is improved. Furthermore, the effects of preparation variables on the reactivity of the sorbents are also discussed.

High quality magnesium alloy sheets with non-dendritic microstructure can be manufactured by the technique which incorporates semi-solid processing with continuous roll strip-casting. In particular, the process is believed to be cost-effective in mass production of magnesium sheet products. The processing parameters, such as roll speed and temperature, have significant influence on roll strip-casting process. In this paper, the commercial software, DEFORM-3D, for deformation simulation of bulk materials was used to carry out the simulation of roll strip-casting process for AZ91D magnesium alloy in semi-solid state, and the distribution of equivalent stress, equivalent strain and temperature was obtained. Based on the results, the optimization of processing parameters was discussed.

Two endo-β-1,4-glucanase cDNAs, eg27Ⅰ and eg27Ⅱ, from the mollusc Ampullaria crossean were expressed in Pichia pastoris cells. The secreted His6-tagged proteins were purified in a single chromatography step. The purified recombinant EG27Ⅰ and EG27Ⅱ showed enzymatic activity on carboxylmethyl cellulose sodium salt at 15.31 U/mg and 12.40 U/mg, respectively. The optimum pH levels of the recombinant EG27Ⅰ and EG27Ⅱ were 5.5 and 5.5-6.0,respectively, and the optimum temperatures were 50 ℃ and 50 ℃-55 ℃, respectively. The pH stability study revealed that both EG27Ⅰ and EG27Ⅱ showed their highest stability at pH 8.0. Analysis of their thermostability indicated that both EG27Ⅰ and EG27Ⅱ were relatively stable up to 40 ℃. Site-directed mutagenesis of Asp43 andAsp153 of both EG27Ⅰ and EG27Ⅱ showed that the two Asp residues are critical for the enzymatic activity.

Cassettes harboring luciferase reporter driven by Bombyx mori cytoplasmic actin gene promoter (A3) (671 bp) and B. mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus immediate-early promoter (IE-1) (580 bp) were transferred to the bacmid Ac .EGT to generate the recombinant Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis viruses, AcNPVA3Luc and AcNPVIELuc, respectively. Recombinant baculoviruses were injected into the hemocoele of newly ecdysed 5th instar larvae. The activities of the A3 and IE-1 promoters in various tissues were measured by luciferase activity assay and normalized by the copy number of recombinant virus. Results showed that the activity of the A3 promoter was approximately 10-fold higher than the IE-1 promoter. The promoter activities of A3 and IE-1 were highest in the silk gland, followed by fat body, middle gut, Malpighian tubule, and hemocyte. In silk gland, activity of the two promoters was highest in posterior silk gland, followed by middle and anterior silk glands. The difference in promoter activities reflects the growth speed of tissue in silkworm larvae. The activity of the A3 promoter remained unchanged and was not inhibited significantly by viral factors at least 3 -4 d post injection of rAcNPV.

Low agglomerating spherical α-Fe2O3 nanopowders were synthesized by catalytic phase transformation in hydrothermal reaction and then dried through freeze-drying. It was found that the as-synthesized particles were spherical and the particle size results obtained from the different measurement methods, including BET, XRD, TEM, SEM and laser particle size analyzer, were almost the same, implying that the α-Fe 2O3 nanopowders were low agglomerating.

With very rich real-time data in DCS, how to turn real-time data into process-monitoring information and to present it effectively to the users, have been a difficulty of designing DCS-human interface for the process-monitoring. This paper presents an information system model for the production process monitoring using IDEF0*. By putting into several levels of monitoring demand, the paper provides a design of human-machine interface for the monitoring information, fault reasons, operation scene and incidence. With this method, DCS monitoring system was designed for the distillation process as an example, and the effectiveness of this method was illustrated.
