Parallel Sensing in Metaverses: Virtual-Real Interactive Smart systems for “6S” Sensing

In the construction of Metaverses,sensors that are referred to as the“bridge of information transmission”,play a key *** functionality and efficiency of today’s sensors,which operate in a manner similar to physical sensing,are frequently constrained by their hardware and *** this research,we proposed the Parallel Sensing framework,which includes background,concept,basic methods and typical application of parallel *** our formulation,sensors are redefined as the integration of real physical sensors and virtual software-defined sensors based on parallel intelligence,in order to boost the performance of the *** sensor will have a parallel counterpart in the virtual world within the framework of parallel *** sensors serve as the brain of sensors and maintain the same properties as physical *** sensing allows physical sensors to operate in discrete time periods to conserve energy,while cloud-based descriptive,predictive,and prescriptive sensors operate continuously to offer compensation data and serve as *** better illustrate parallel sensing concept,we show some example applications of parallel sensing such as parallel vision,parallel point cloud and parallel light fields,both of which are designed by construct virtual sensors to extend small real data to virtual big data and then boost the performance of perception *** results demonstrate the effective of parallel sensing *** interaction between the real and virtual worlds enables sensors to operate actively,allowing them to intelligently adapt to various scenarios and ultimately attain the goal of“Cognitive,Parallel,Crypto,Federated,Social and Ecologic”6S sensing.

Monoterpenes have been known to have a critical influence on air quality and climate change through their impact on the formation of fine *** we present field evidence that monoterpene oxidations largely enhanced local ozone production in a regional site in eastern *** observed monoterpene was most likely from biomass burning rather than biogenic emissions,as indicated by the high correlation with CO at night-time,and the observed ratio of these two species was consistent with previously determined values from biomass burning *** monoterpene oxidations were determined experimentally based on direct radical measurements,leading to a daily ozone enhancement of 4-18 parts per billion by volume（ppb）,which was 6%-16% of the total ozone production,depending on the speciation of *** demonstrates that the previously overlo oked anthropogenic monoterpenes make an important contribution to 03 production in eastern *** role could possibly be important at similar locations across China and other parts of the world that are characterized by massive emissions,especially where there are high *** results highlight that anthropogenic monoterpenes should be taken into account when proceeding with the coordinated mitigation of O3and particulate matter pollution.

Clinical experiments and scientific evidence show the relations between gait and cognition. Neurological diseases (like stroke and cerebral palsy) distract patients' attention and restrict their executive functions. Furthermore, these diseases impair patients' movement and limit their social participation. Quantitative motion assessment is significant to medical decision-making for neurological disorders but is possible only with expensive motion capture systems and professional medical workers. Here, an end-To-end video-based quantitative gait analysis algorithm is proposed. Unlike previous works, which only focus on image coordinate key-points, our algorithm also utilizes scaled key-points that can depict the size of patients. These two groups of features are sent to other neural networks to extract temporal and spatial characteristics, and then the deep features are fused by the attention mechanism. Finally, a statistic model is used to process the proposed outputs to get a final result. Experiments on the public patients' dataset show the effectiveness and accuracy of our model. Furthermore, the ablation study proves that every step of the proposed method contributes to the whole system's performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Attention mechanism combined with convolutional neural network(CNN) achieves promising performance for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) image segmentation,however these methods only learn attention weights from single scale,resulting in incomplete attention learning.A novel method named completed attention convolutional neural network(CACNN) is proposed for MRI image ***,the channel-wise attention block(CWAB) and the pixel-wise attention block(PWAB) are designed to learn attention weights from the aspects of channel and pixel *** a result,completed attention weights are obtained,which is beneficial to discriminative feature *** method is verified on two widely used datasets(HVSMR and MRBrainS),and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better results than the state-of-theart methods.

The surge in urban population density in China has underscored the vital role of high-speed rail and subway systems in urban transit. Comprehensive transportation hubs, notably high-speed rail passenger terminals, have emerged as linchpins for seamless multimodal transit both within and beyond urban centers. China's railway sector vigorously champions the innovative concept of "station-city integration"and has articulated a forward-looking "16-word policy"for modern railway stations: "Seamless integration, environmental friendliness, economic viability, and intelligent accessibility". The judicious allocation of resources and the augmentation of coordination and control capabilities within comprehensive transportation hubs are imperative for the harmonious evolution of urban transit. The implementation of intelligent control systems for transportation hubs has emerged as a pivotal area of research. This study delves into the framework and critical technologies for high-speed railway comprehensive transport hubs, encompassing various components and their intricate interplay, including transport modalities, infrastructure, travelers, environmental factors, and information systems, thus forming a prototypical cyber-physical-social system. Addressing the prevalent and pressing imperative for the advancement of "station-city integration"high-speed railway comprehensive transport hubs, this research endeavor aims to surmount bottleneck challenges and refine the oversight of passenger flows at high-speed rail terminals. The findings hold noteworthy theoretical import and portend promising practical applications. © 2023 IEEE.

As a highly developed region, Guangdong province has substantial industrial emissions. Its subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by abundant hydrothermal conditions, contributes to a substantial biomass potential. The adoption of potential biomass-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, such as biochar, presents an opportunity to mitigate emissions and work towards carbon neutrality in the future. However, the current state of the land carbon balance and the CDR potential of biochar in Guangdong province remains unclear. We first calculated the land carbon balance based on inventory data. Then we estimated the CDR potential of biochar derived from agricultural residues, forestry residues, and bioenergy crops cultivated on marginal lands in Guangdong province using life cycle analysis (LCA). Results show that Guangdong province has not yet achieved carbon neutrality, with a net emission (carbon emissions remaining after offsetting by carbon sinks) of 925.63 Tg CO2e (CO2 equivalent, 1Tg = 106 t) in 2021. Emissions from energy consumption account for the highest proportion, contributing 83.8% of total emissions. In the highest biomass utilization scenario, the maximum CDR potential of biochar derived from all biomass types reaches 84.30 Tg CO2e yr-1, which could offset 9.11% of net carbon emissions in Guangdong province. Our findings provide crucial guidance for setting emission reduction targets and implementing effective mitigation strategies in Guangdong province under temperature warming. Recent years have witnessed numerous technical breakthroughs in connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs). On the one hand, these breakthroughs have significantly advanced the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs);on the other hand, these new traffic participants introduce more complex and uncertain elements to ITSs from the social space. Digital twins (DTs) provide real-time, data-driven, precise modeling for constructing the digital mapping of physical-world ITSs. Meanwhile, the metaverse integrates emerging technologies such as virtual reality/mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and DTs to model and explore how to realize improved sustainability, increased efficiency, and enhanced safety. More recently, as a leading effort toward general artificial intelligence, the concept of foundation model was proposed and has achieved significant success, showing great potential to lay the cornerstone for diverse artificial intelligence applications across different domains. In this article, we explore the big models embodied foundation intelligence for parallel driving in cyber-physical-social spaces, which integrate metaverse and DTs to construct a parallel training space for CAVs, and present a comprehensive elucidation of the crucial characteristics and operational mechanisms. Beyond providing the infrastructure and foundation intelligence of big models for parallel driving, this article also discusses future trends and potential research directions, and the ?S?goals of parallel driving.
