Deterministic and Stochastic Simulators for Non-Isotropic V2V-MIMO Wideband Channels

In this paper, we consider a novel two-dimensional(2D) geometry-based stochastic model(GBSM) for multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) wideband fading channels. The proposed model employs the combination of a two-ring model and a multiple confocal ellipses model, where the signal is sum of the line-of-sight(Lo S) component, single-bounced(SB) rays, and double-bounced(DB) rays. Based on the reference model, we derive some expressions of channel statistical properties, including space-time correlation function(STCF), Doppler spectral power density(DPSD), envelope level crossing rate(LCR) and average fade duration(AFD). In addition, corresponding deterministic and stochastic simulation models are developed based on the reference model. Moreover, we compare the statistical properties of the reference model and the two simulation models in different scenarios and investigate the impact of different vehicular traffic densities(VTDs) on the channel statistical properties of the proposed model. Finally, the great agreement between simulation models and the reference model demonstrates not only the utility of simulation models, but also the correctness of theoretical derivations and simulations.

In this paper, we conduct research on the dynamic demand response problem in smart grid to control the energy consumption. The objective of the energy consumption control is constructed based on differential game, as the dynamic of each users’ energy state in smart gird can be described based on a differential equation. Concept of electricity sharing is introduced to achieve load shift of main users from the high price hours to the low price hours. Nash equilibrium is given based on the Hamilton equation and the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified based on the numerical simulation results.

Experiment of C-Band Wavelength Conversion in a Silicon Waveguide Pumped by Dispersed Femtosecond Laser Pulse

We experimentally demonstrate the C-band wavelength conversion using four-wave mixing in a 17-mm-long silicon-on-insulator waveguide pumped by a dispersed mode-locked femtosecond laser pulse. The idler can be observed with an incident average pump power lower than 4 dBm, and about 35 nm of conversion bandwidth from 1530nm to 1565nm is measured by using a 1550-nm pump wavelength. The pulse-pumped efficiency is demonstrated to be higher, by more than 22 dB, than the cw-pumped efficiency. The conversion efficiency variations with respect to the pump and signal powers are also investigated.

Fast multicore simulators are extremely useful in evaluating design alternatives and enabling early software development. Among the state-of-the-art multicore simulators, Simics is a very popular used one both in academia and industry. It has a powerful debugging system, and also provides an accelerator to support multithreaded or distributed simulation. However, this kind of parallel mechanism mainly aims at speed up distributed systems. It is not suitable for the shared-memory multicore systems which are much more commonly used. In this paper, we propose a novel parallel mechanism to improve the simulation speed of shared-memory multicore systems. More importantly, our approach is compatible with other optimizations and exist debugging systems used in Simics. Experimental results show that our parallel approach achieves an average speedup of 9.6x (up to 12.2x) when running SPLASH-2 kernel on a 16-core host machine. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Refresh operations consume substantial energy and bandwidth in high-density DRAM memory. To cope with this issue, Fine-Grained Refresh (FGR) is recently proposed to eliminate unnecessary refresh operations caused by minor weak cells. Even JEDEC's DDR4 DRAM specification announces the support of FGR to make DRAM refresh more scalable. Unfortunately, we observe that the effectiveness of FGR is greatly confined by the procedure of refresh-oblivious device integration because all memory devices within a module have to be controlled and refreshed in a lockstep way after the step of assembly. In this work, we firstly propose to intelligently integrate the "compatible" devices through a pre-assembly testing and retention-aware matching method. Second, we reuse the reconfiguration structure from yield-oriented remapping mechanism in memory chips and propose Microfix to create a balanced distribution of retention time in memory banks through fine-grained row-address tuning. With this optimization architecture, RADAR, we can eliminate the refresh overhead of produced memory modules by 28% on average. © 2015 ACM.

PCF-Grasp: Converting Point Completion to Geometry Feature to Enhance 6-DoF Grasp

The 6-Degree of Freedom (DoF) grasp method based on point clouds has shown significant potential in enabling robots to grasp target objects. However, most existing methods are based on the point clouds (2.5D points) generated from single-view depth images. These point clouds only have one surface side of the object providing incomplete geometry information, which mislead the grasping algorithm to judge the shape of the target object, resulting in low grasping accuracy. Humans can accurately grasp objects from a single view by leveraging their geometry experience to estimate object shapes. Inspired by humans, we propose a novel 6-DoF grasping framework that converts the point completion results as object shape features to train the 6-DoF grasp network. Here, point completion can generate approximate complete points from the 2.5D points similar to the human geometry experience, and converting it as shape features is the way to utilize it to improve grasp efficiency. Furthermore, due to the gap between the network generation and actual execution, we integrate a score filter into our framework to select more executable grasp proposals for the real robot. This enables our method to maintain a high grasp quality in any camera viewpoint. Extensive experiments demonstrate that utilizing complete point features enables the generation of significantly more accurate grasp proposals and the inclusion of a score filter greatly enhances the credibility of real-world robot grasping. Our method achieves a 17.8% success rate higher than the state-of-the-art method in real-world experiments. Code and videos are available at https://***/ChengYaofeng/PCF-Grasp. The flourish of deep learning frameworks and hardware platforms has been demanding an efficient compiler that can shield the diversity in both software and hardware in order to provide application *** the existing deep learning compilers,TVM is well known for its efficiency in code generation and optimization across diverse hardware *** the meanwhile,the Sunway many-core processor renders itself as a competitive candidate for its attractive computational power in both scientific computing and deep learning *** paper combines the trends in these two ***,we propose swTVM that extends the original TVM to support ahead-of-time compilation for architecture requiring cross-compilation such as *** addition,we leverage the architecture features during the compilation such as core group for massive parallelism,DMA for high bandwidth memory transfer and local device memory for data locality,in order to generate efficient codes for deep learning workloads on *** experiment results show that the codes generated by swTVM achieve 1.79x improvement of inference latency on average compared to the state-of-the-art deep learning framework on Sunway,across eight representative *** work is the first attempt from the compiler perspective to bridge the gap of deep learning and Sunway processor particularly with productivity and efficiency in *** believe this work will encourage more people to embrace the power of deep learning and Sunwaymany-coreprocessor.

Round-trip information timeliness based energy storage control for cyber-physical integrated multi-energy system

The cyber–physical integrated multi-energy system (MES) with energy storage plays an essential supporting role in achieving low-carbon operation of distribution grid. Distributed consensus optimization is the core principle to facilitate cost-efficient operation of MES under the volatility of renewable energy output and load. However, the economic control of cyber–physical integrated MES neglects the close coupling between the physical-domain control stability and cyber-domain information interaction timeliness. Meanwhile, there lacks a timeliness model reflecting the timeliness loss in the round-trip information interaction among multi-energy subsystems, and a consensus optimization method considering the round-trip information timeliness and multi-energy subsystem influences, thereby weaking control stability and convergence performance. Thus, a round-trip timeliness model for cyber-domain MES is developed, and a cyber–physical integrated MES control problem is constructed to minimize the total control cost by jointly optimizing cyber-domain interaction sequence, physical-domain consensus variable weights, and multi-energy subsystem output power. A round-trip timeliness minimization-driven control algorithm for cyber–physical integrated MES is proposed. In the offline phase, K-means and radial basis function are used to fit the influence of MESs. In the online phase, a low-complexity externality matching algorithm is proposed to optimize the interaction sequence and adjust the consensus variable update process to improve information timeliness and control economy. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has superior performances in economic control of MES and convergence speed.

"Irregular" algorithms using data structures like sparse graphs, trees and sets prevail in the most emerging problems domains such as social network analysis, machine learning, data mining and computational science. The irregularity of underlying data structures leads to unstructured parallelism in these algorithms, consequently making it pretty hard for users to write efficient parallel implementations on distributed memory systems. Unified Parallel C language provides convenience of a global address space with the locality control needed for high performance and scalability. However, the Single Program Multiple Data execution model with a statically fixed set of executing threads makes UPC does not support applications with unstructured parallelism. In this paper, we first put forward Shared Work List to UPC and advocate a programming paradigm for writing applications with amorphous data parallelism on distributed memory systems. We also introduce user-assisted speculative execution based on Active Message model to support speculative execution on distributed memory systems. Efficient mechanism of work dispatching and related optimizations are presented as well. We preliminarily choose Breadth-first Search as a case study to demonstrate the feasibility, pro-grammability and performance benefits out of Shared Work List. © 2012 ACM.

In order to reduce the interference,a novel,cluster-based medium access control(MAC)protocol with load aware for VANETs is proposed in this ***,all vehicles on roads are grouped into stable clusters in the light of their direction,number of neighbors,link reliability,and traffic *** utilizing the advantages of centralized control in software defined VANETs(SDVN),cluster stability can be maintained in ***,a contention-free MAC mechanism composed of inter-cluster multi-channel allocation and intra-cluster dynamic TDMA frame allocation is proposed to prevent co-channel interference and hidden terminal *** results show that the proposed protocol outperforms some existing protocols in cluster stability,delivery ratio,throughput and delay performance.
