Effects of heterogeneous reaction with NO_(2) on ice nucleation activities of feldspar and Arizona Test Dust

Mineral dust is an important type of ice nucleating particles in the troposphere;however,the effects of heterogeneous reactions on ice nucleation(IN)activities of mineral dust remain to be elucidated.A droplet-freezing apparatus(Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry Ice Nucleation Apparatus,GIGINA)was developed in thiswork to measure IN activities of atmospheric particles in the immersion freezingmode,and its performancewas validated by a series of experimental *** apparatus was then employed to measure IN activities of feldspar and Arizona Test Dust(ATD)particles before and after heterogeneous reaction with NO_(2)(10±0.5 ppmv)at 40%relative *** surface coverage of nitrate,θ(NO_(3)^(−)),increased to 3.1±0.2 for feldspar after reaction with NO_(2) for 6 hr,and meanwhile the active site density per unit surface area(ns)at-20℃ was reduced from 92±5 to<1.0 cm^(−2) by about two orders of magnitude;however,no changes in nitrate content or IN activities were observed for further increase in reaction time(up to 24 hr).Both nitrate content and IN activities changed continuously with reaction time(up to 24 hr)for ATD particles;after reaction with NO_(2) for 24 hr,θ(NO_(3)^(−))increased to 1.4±0.1 and ns at-20℃ was reduced from 20±4 to 9.7±1.9 cm^(−2) by a factor of∼*** work suggests that heterogeneous reaction with NO_(2),an abundant reactive nitrogen species in the troposphere,may significantly reduce IN activities of mineral dust in the immersion freezing mode.

For the task of content retrieval,analysis and generation of film and television scene images in the field of intelligent editing,fine-grained emotion recognition and prediction of images is of great *** this paper,the fusion of traditional perceptual features,art features and multi-channel deep learning features are used to reflect the emotion expression of different levels of the *** addition,the integrated learning model with stacking architecture based on linear regression coefficient and sentiment correlations,which is called the LS-stacking model,is proposed according to the factor association between multi-dimensional *** experimental results prove that the mixed feature and LS-stacking model can predict well on the 16 emotion categories of the self-built image *** study improves the fine-grained recognition ability of image emotion by computers,which helps to increase the intelligence and automation degree of visual retrieval and post-production system.

This paper analyzes the device voltage overshoot in the symmetrical hybrid five-level converter. Owing to the presence of stray inductance, the voltage that the power devices need to withstand during switching operations may exceed their rated values. To address this issue, a device voltage overshoot suppression method suitable for the topology is proposed in this paper. This method suppresses SiC MOSFET voltage overshoot through adjustment of switching speed and the utilization of snubber capacitance, and it employs the design of RC and dual-RCD snubber circuits to suppress Si IGBT voltage overshoot. simulation and experimental results certificate the effectiveness of the proposed method in suppressing device voltage overshoot. © 2024 IEEE.

To enhance the safety and comfort of driving at night, high-definition warning/interactive ICONS will be projected on the ground in conjunction with the ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance system to alert nearby pedestrians and drivers. To solve the problem of trapezoidal distortion caused by automobile headlights when projecting high-definition warning/interactive ICONS and pictures to the ground, firstly, the ground lighting area is connected with the luminous array according to the light field model established in the previous chapter, and then the corresponding luminous array corresponds to the coordinate value of the image pixel point to realize the coordinate reconstruction. Then, after the bilinear interpolation, the luminance value of the image pixel is assigned to the corresponding luminescent array coordinate, and the image is projected to the ground without distortion. Finally, the experimental system test platform was built to verify the method. © 2023 IEEE.

To advance the application of zero-carbon ammonia fuel, this paper presents an experimental investigation on the potential of ammonia substitution using a 2.0L ammonia-hydrogen engine, where ammonia is injected into the intake port and hydrogen is directly injected into the cylinder. The study examines the effects of ammonia substitution rate under various load conditions on engine combustion and emission performance. Results indicate that the maximum ammonia energy substitution rate reached 98%, and within the stable combustion boundary, the mass fraction of unburned ammonia was less than 3%. The ammonia energy substitution ratio increased with load, and ammonia addition significantly suppressed pre-ignition and knocking. As ammonia content increased, ignition timing advanced, combustion duration extended, ignition delay prolonged, COV increased, peak cylinder pressure, and pressure rise rate decreased, with a corresponding decrease in peak heat release rate. Compared to a pure hydrogen engine, the ammonia-hydrogen dual-fuel engine significantly improved brake thermal efficiency (BTE), which continued to rise with increasing ammonia energy substitution rate. At BMEP = 0.8 MPa, BTE reached a maximum of 41.1%. With increased ammonia addition, unburned NH3 emissions in the exhaust gradually increased, while NOx emissions decreased overall, but N2O emissions showed an increasing trend. © 2025 SAE International.

The qualified finished water from water treatment plants(WTPs) may become discolored and deteriorated during transportation in drinking water distribution systems(DWDSs), which affected tap water quality seriously. This water stability problem often occurs due to pipe corrosion and the destabilization of corrosion scales. This paper provides a comprehensive review of pipe corrosion in DWDSs, including corrosion process, corrosion scale formation, influencing factors and monitoring technologies utilized in DWDSs. In terms of corrosion process, corrosion occurrence, development mechanisms, currently applied assays, and indices used to determine the corrosion possibility are summarized, as well as the chemical and bacterial influences. In terms of scale formation, explanations for the nature of corrosion and scale formation mechanisms are discussed and its typical multilayered structure is illustrated. Furthermore, the influences of water quality and microbial activity on scale transformation are comprehensively discussed. Corrosion-related bacteria at the genus level and their associated corrosion mechanism are also summarized. This review helps deepen the current understanding of pipe corrosion and scale formation in DWDSs, providing guidance for water supply utilities to ensure effective measures to maintain water quality stability and guarantee drinking water safety.

Aiming at the problems of chemical pollution and the inability to reuse the initiation method adopted by the traditional hood pop-up mechanism, a new hood pop-up mechanism that uses shape memory alloy (SMA) as the trigger power element is proposed to realize the improvement of the hood pop-up mechanism. High-speed triggering and reversible recovery, the mechanism is simple in structure, quick in response, and can be manually recovered after being bounced, which can be adapted to various car models. After the sensor is triggered, the supercapacitor heated the SMA element to drive it at a high speed. The locking mechanism is activated to release the energy stored in the spring, and the engine hood is lifted and limited after reaching a certain height. After the design of the engine hood lifting mechanism and the determination of parameters, the spring stiffness that meets the pedestrian protection requirements is determined to be 11000N/m by the numerical simulation method. Dynamics modeling and simulation were carried out to study the influence of different parameters on the bouncing response. Experimental results show that when the spring stiffness increases from 2000N/m to 5000N/m, the release time decreases from 19ms to 12ms, and the time needed to spring up to 100mm height decreases from 136mm to 84mm. The response speed of the spring mechanism is accelerated, which is consistent with the simulation results. © 2023 SPIE.

A corrosion-resistant and age-hardenable Mg-Al-Mn-Ca-Ce dilute alloy with fine-grained structure processed by controlled rolling

Low strength and poor corrosion resistance are two long-standing bottlenecks with dilute Mg ***,we report that the corrosion resistance of Mg-0.6Al-0.5Mn-0.2Ca(wt.%)alloy sheet can be significantly improved by micro-alloying with 0.3 wt.%Ce,and the strength can be considerably augmented after aging *** optimization of strength,ductility,and corrosion resistance is difficult due to the inherent trade-off in Mg ***,our aged Mg-0.6Al-0.5Mn-0.2Ca-0.3Ce alloy features with yield strength(YS)of∼194 MPa,ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of∼265 MPa,elongation to failure(EF)of∼17.2%,and corrosion rate(CR)of 2.2 mm y^(−1),the combination of which exhibits competitive advantage over other comparative dilute Mg *** is found that Ce addition decreases the activity of cathodic phases,inhibits detrimental effects of Fe impurities,and forms a protective Ce-containing surface *** high strength stems from the precipitation of ordered Guinier-Preston(G.P.)zones dispersed in uniform fine grains with an average grain size of∼8.2μ*** atomic-scale *** result in a noticeable age hardening response but do not act as crack initiation and propagation site,so our alloy also performs satisfactory *** work sheds light on the design and fabrication of strong,ductile,and corrosion-resistant dilute magnesium alloys to be used in electronic products and automotive bodies.
