The main purpose of this paper is to describe a novel power management control strategy for battery and supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system with the objective that the load power demand would be distributed into the energy storage devices in a way that each device can be utilized optimally. The paper describes the design and control of such an on-board hybrid energy storage system. The specific control strategy is designed based on a fuzzy-logic controller (FLC), which offers the advantage of flexibility and robustness and has been widely applied to the energy management or power distribution of multiple power sources system of an electric vehicle, to avoid the low efficiency operation region of every power source and achieve high efficiency without degrading the mechanism performance. However, prior experience fuzzy logic supervisory control is often difficulty in realizing the optimal distribution between battery and supercapacitor. In the presented research, an optimization method based on gold ratio cut-off rule is proposed to design the degree of hybridization (DOH) and membership functions of the fuzzy controller, to realize the optimal performance of fuzzy logic controller. The proposed optimization method is simple and effective, and can be applied to the practical hybrid system directly. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was examined by using ADVISOR simulation platform, and in which the hybrid energy storage system was developed and embedded into the electric vehicle model. The model parameters were gained from the tested vehicle. simulation results have shown that the proposed method can efficiently distribute the power between battery and supercapacitor to realize the design objective set forth.

Travelling wave (TW) differential protection fully utilizes the fault information contained in TW at both terminals of a transmission line, so it's a protection with high reliability and high selectivity. However, because TW differential protection needs a large amount of communication, it cannot be put into practical use. This paper proposes a TW differential protection which is based on equivalent travelling wave (ETW). Fault information is not lost during the process of getting ETW, so the proposed protection has the same reliability and selectivity with traditional TW differential protection. Because only several modulus maxima are needed to be sent to the opposite terminal, the traffic is largely reduced and the protection can operate much more rapidly. Extensive simulations validate the proposed protection.

Wireless power transfer has been recognized as a promising technology for electric vehicles charging. However, the parking misalignments between the transmitter coil on the ground and the receiver coil inside the car may cause variations in the mutual inductance for the charging system, which will reduce its transfer power and efficiency. In order to improve the transfer efficiency and optimize the operating condition, it is essential to identify the mutual inductance. In this paper, identification models are studied with and without communication feedback from the receiver coil under two typical cases (resonant transmitter and inductive transmitter). A selection method based on sensitivity analysis is proposed to select models of high accuracy against measurement errors and sampling propagations. simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method. This work is helpful for evaluating and improving the wireless charging system's tolerance against misalignments as well as optimizing its operation condition.

As the development and building of 220kV and 500kV Unified Power Flow controller (UPFC) in Jiangsu grid of China, a higher requirement is put forward by power grid analysis on the accuracy of modelling and simulation. UPFC has different characteristics under different control strategies, and Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) simulation is a difficult task. In order to study its dynamic characteristics, an electromagnetic model of UPFC based on MMC was proposed, which could simulate its different control strategies and relative dynamic characteristics. The proposed model was realized in PSD-PSModel program and verified using IEEE39 case. The simulation results show that the proposed UPFC model could provide effective tool for analysing the UPFC's dynamic characteristics.

With the development of smart grid, the self-healing ability of protection device becomes much more important. Pilot protection is of good selectivity, but it needs a highly reliable communication network. Once the communication line between two devices is out of work, pilot protection will be forced out of operation. Since there are many ring structures in communication network, circuitous routes can be found to help pilot protection remain operational. In this paper, ant colony algorithm (ACA) are used to find the optimal circuitous route, and simulation results show the method is fast and accurate. To the actual communication network of power system, each node is just connected to a few other nodes, so the search process often come to dead ends. Use penalty functions can reduce the probability of coming to a dead end and improve the algorithm efficiency. The whole route accelerating penalty function is most efficient.

Using the method of conjoint analysis, this paper assesses corporate preferences for the policy alternatives of the sectoral crediting mechanism (SCM) aiming at supporting the discussions and development of this instrument. Data was collected in all 11 prefecture-level cities of Shanxi province, China. Modeling analysis confirms that companies are most concerned about the following three policy attributes, domestic policy instruments, the relationship with the clean developing mechanism (CDM) and the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR). Companies prefer a policy alternative that has a domestic policy instrument in which installations with voluntary targets receive tradable units, can co-exist with the CDM, and can get financial and technical assistance from developed countries. Meanwhile, the coverage of the SCM has the potential to expand to small companies that are the most inefficient under the premise of controlling transaction costs.
