A cooperative energy management strategy based on region-based traffic grade prediction

The progression of the Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) has cultivated a comprehensive information environment, laying the groundwork for vehicle-environment adaptive control. Region-based traffic condition prediction offers valuable insights into overall traffic trends, aiding urban applications and vehicle-environment cooperation. In this study, an adaptive energy management strategy based on region-based traffic grade prediction (TGP-EMS) is proposed for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) based on IoVs, strengthening the adaptability via accurately obtaining future region-based traffic conditions. Firstly, traffic data collected from volunteering vehicles are processed to generate representative traffic graphs and the traffic conditions are separated into several grades with distinct traffic attributes. Secondly, a differentiable pooling is integrated into a hierarchical deep learning framework to establish a region-based traffic prediction model termed Graph Pool. Thirdly, an optimal explicit solving method based on an instantaneous optimization algorithm is proposed and successfully applied to energy management. Moreover, the robustness of the introduced explicit solving algorithm is optimized based on the beetle antennae search (BAS) algorithm. simulation results, accompanied by hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests, suggest that the introduced Graph Pool effectively captures spatial features across the entire traffic network, ensuring accuracy and consistency in predicting traffic conditions. Moreover, the TGP-EMS adeptly adjusts power distribution based on these predictions, showing an improvement of roughly 13.5 % compared to conventional rule-based energy management strategies. © 2025

Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) are major volatile organic compounds (VOCs) associated with petroleum production, posing significant health risks via inhalation. Conventional risk assessments primarily focus on single-compound or single-concentration exposures, overlooking the complex mixed-exposure scenarios prevalent at contaminated sites. This study refines health risk assessment frameworks by incorporating bioaccessibility-driven indices for inhalation exposure. Using a membrane oxygenator system, benzene and ethylbenzene were evaluated as representative pollutants under single and mixed exposures at low (5 mg/kg), medium (10 mg/kg), and high (20 mg/kg) concentrations. Results revealed significantly enhanced bioaccessibility of benzene and ethylbenzene in simulated lung fluid under mixed exposure compared to single exposure (P © 2025, The Authors. Experimental and chemical kinetic study of laminar flame characteristics and ammonia-alcohol synergistic effect for C1∼C5 alcohol-ammonia composite combustion

Currently, studies on using carbon-neutral alcohol-based oxygenated fuels to improve the speed and stability of ammonia laminar flame have attracted extensive attention from researchers. In this study, the laminar flame speed, flame cell structure and flame self-accelerating as well as the Markstein length of C1∼C5 alcohol-ammonia composite combustion have been explored by high-speed schlieren system in constant-volume combustion chamber together with chemical kinetics, and it was found that there is a synergistic effect on both laminar flame speed and flame stability of C1∼C5 alcohol-ammonia composite combustion, finally the ammonia-alcohol synergistic effect was investigated based on Taguchi method. The results show that, except for methanol addition which is particularly effective, the addition of C1∼C5 alcohols can significantly improve the laminar flame speed of ammonia, and the enhancement effect decreases first and then increases with the extension of the molecular chain in added alcohols. The chemical kinetics are attributed to the fact that during ammonia-alcohol composite combustion, the intensity of NH3-NH2-NH dehydrogenation and CH2O-CO exothermic reactions reduces first and then increases with the extension of alcohol molecular chain, and methanol addition is relatively easier to generate CH2O and HNO which can significantly increase the strength of ammonia-methanol synergistic effect. Besides, the addition of C1∼C5 alcohols can keep the ammonia flame in a self-accelerating status and effectively increase the Markstein length. However, the onset of cellular flame is delayed, the intensity of self-accelerating is weakened and the enhancement effect of flame stability is reduced with the extension of molecular chain in added alcohols. Antibiotic resistance occurrence and ecological impact in landfill leachate: A review on compound effect of antibiotics and non-antibiotics

Landfilling remains one of the primary methods for managing municipal solid waste (MSW), processing approximately 350 million tons of waste annually. Among the various components of landfill waste, pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), including both antibiotics and non-antibiotic compounds, pose significant environmental challenges. Landfill leachate is a highly complex medium, consisting of diverse contaminants such as non-antibiotic pharmaceuticals (average concentration ∼1.74 μg/L), antibiotics (average concentration ∼527 ng/L), heavy metals, dissolved organic matter, and micro/nano-plastics (concentration range 0.64–2.16 mg/L). This unique mixture can alter the native microbial community structure, profoundly impacting antibiotic resistance, potentially disrupting soil and groundwater ecosystems, and threatening ecological balance. Existing research has extensively investigated the composition, physicochemical properties, environmental behavior, and microbial community structure of landfill leachate, leading to significant advancements in the field. However, due to the complexity and large volume of landfill leachate, current risk assessment approaches predominantly rely on conventional pollutant indicators, and most treatment strategies are designed for general contaminants. There is a lack of systematic descriptions that integrate pollutants with their direct impacts on microbial communities. This review focuses on the current pollution status, spatiotemporal trends, interactions, and migration risks of antibiotics and non-antibiotic pollutants in landfill leachate. In particular, we explore the in situ emergence of antibiotic resistance in landfill leachate (rather than the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance genes) and examine the influence of various leachate components on antibiotic resistance. Waste photovoltaic (PV) wafers recovered from modules by physical crushing contain high levels of impurities and are unsuitable for reuse. This research demonstrates the successful regeneration of SiC (r-SiC) nanowires photocatalysts from these discarded PV wafers. The r-SiC exhibits enhanced photoactivity and reduces environmental emissions compared to market SiC, as evidenced by a life cycle assessment. By synthesizing ZnxCd1-xS/r-SiC (ZxC1-xSS) photocatalysts featuring a S-scheme heterojunction and internal electric field (IEF)-driven •OH production capability, we have not only repurposed waste but also achieved an unprecedented leap in photocatalytic efficiency. The resulting 20 %Zn0.2Cd0.8S/r-SiC (20Z0.2C0.8SS) photocatalyst exhibited a remarkable 96.67 % cefaclor (CEC) degradation efficiency under visible light within 30 min—outperforming r-SiC by 126-fold and Zn0.2Cd0.8S by 44-fold, and enabling efficient pharmaceutical wastewater degradation. This pioneering research not only turns waste into a valuable resource but also establishes a new benchmark in photocatalytic technology, providing profound insights into the mechanisms underpinning ZxC1-xSS photocatalysts. © 2025

Identification of Maximum Road Friction Coefficient and Optimal Slip Ratio Based on Road Type Recognition

The identification of maximum road friction coefficient and optimal slip ratio is crucial to vehicle dynamics and ***,it is always not easy to identify the maximum road friction coefficient with high robustness and good adaptability to various vehicle operating *** existing investigations on robust identification of maximum road friction coefficient are *** this paper,an identification approach based on road type recognition is proposed for the robust identification of maximum road friction coefficient and optimal slip *** instantaneous road friction coefficient is estimated through the recursive least square with a forgetting factor method based on the single wheel model,and the estimated road friction coefficient and slip ratio are grouped in a set of samples in a small time interval before the current time,which are updated with time *** current road type is recognized by comparing the samples of the estimated road friction coefficient with the standard road friction coefficient of each typical road,and the minimum statistical error is used as the recognition principle to improve identification *** the road type is recognized,the maximum road friction coefficient and optimal slip ratio are *** numerical simulation tests are conducted on two typical road friction conditions（single-friction and joint-friction）by using CarSim *** test results show that there is little identification error between the identified maximum road friction coefficient and the pre-set value in *** proposed identification method has good robustness performance to external disturbances and good adaptability to various vehicle operating conditions and road variations,and the identification results can be used for the adjustment of vehicle active safety control strategies.

One Step Positive Approach for Sheet Metal Forming simulation Based on Quasi-conjugate-gradient Method

In one step inverse finite element approach, an initial blank shape is normally predicted from the final deformed shape. The final deformed shape needs to be trimmed into a final part after stamping, the trimmed area, therefore, needs to be compensated manually before using one step inverse approach, which causes low efficiency and in consistency with the real situation. To solve this problem, one step positive approach is proposed to simulate the sheet metal stamping process. Firstly the spatial initial solution of one step positive method is preliminarily obtained by using the mapping relationship and area coordinates, then based on the deformation theory the iterative solving is carried out in three-dimensional coordinate system by using quasi-conjugate-gradient method. During iterative process the contact judgment method is introduced to ensure that the nodes on the spatial initial solution are not separated from die surface. The predicted results of sheet metal forming process that include the shape and thickness of the stamped part can be obtained after the iterative solving process. The validity of the proposed approach is verified by comparing the predicted results obtained through the proposed approach with those obtained through the module of one step inverse approach in Autoform and the real stamped part. In one step positive method, the stamped shape of regular sheet can be calculated fast and effectively. During the iterative solution, the quasi-conjugate-gradient method is proposed to take the place of solving system of equations, and it can improve the stability and precision of the algorithm.

Design and Optimization for the Occupant Restraint System of Vehicle Based on a Single Freedom Model

Throughout the vehicle crash event, the interactions between vehicle, occupant, restraint system (VOR) are complicated and highly non-linear. CAE and physical tests are the most widely used in vehicle passive safety development, but they can only be done with the detailed 3D model or physical samples. Often some design errors and imperfections are difficult to correct at that time, and a large amount of time will be needed. A restraint system concept design approach which based on single-degree-of-freedom occupant-vehicle model (SDOF) is proposed in this paper. The interactions between the restraint system parameters and the occupant responses in a crash are studied from the view of mechanics and energy. The discrete input and the iterative algorithm method are applied to the SDOF model to get the occupant responses quickly for arbitrary excitations (impact pulse) by MATLAB. By studying the relationships between the ridedown efficiency, the restraint stiffness, and the occupant response, the design principle of the restraint stiffness aiming to reduce occupant injury level during conceptual design is represented. Higher ridedown efficiency means more occupant energy absorbed by the vehicle, but the research result shows that higher ridedown efficiency does not mean lower occupant injury level. A proper restraint system design principle depends on two aspects. On one hand,the restraint system should lead to as high ridedown efficiency as possible, and at the same time, the restraint system should maximize use of the survival space to reduce the occupant deceleration level. As an example, an optimization of a passenger vehicle restraint system is designed by the concept design method above, and the final results are validated by MADYMO, which is the most widely used software in restraint system design, and the sled test. Consequently, a guideline and method for the occupant restraint system concept design is established in this paper.

Novel Evaluation Method of Vehicle Suspension Performance Based on Concept of Wheel Turn Center

The current research of suspension performance evaluation is mixed in the evaluation of vehicle handling and ride comfort. However, it is lack of a direct and independent evaluation method for suspension performance. In this paper, a novel wheel turn center method is proposed to evaluate the suspension performance. This method is based on the concept and application of wheel turn center （WTC） and sprung mass turn center （SPTC）. The vehicle body and each wheel are regarded to be independent rigid bodies and have their own turn centers which reflect respective steering motions and responses. Since the suspension is the link between vehicle body and wheels, the consistence between the sprung mass turn center and the wheel turn center reflects the effect and performance of the suspension system. Firstly, the concept and appropriate calculation method of WTC and SPTC are developed. Then the degree of inconsistence between WTC and SPTC and the time that they achieve consistence, when the vehicle experiences from transient steering to steady steering state, are proposed to evaluate suspension performance. The suspension evaluation tests are conducted under different vehicle velocities and lateral accelerations by using CarSim software. The simulation results show that the inconsistence of steering motion between vehicle body and wheels are mainly at high speeds and low lateral accelerations. Finally, based on the proposed evaluation indexes, the influences of different suspension characteristic parameters on suspension performance and their matches to improve steering coordination are discussed. The proposed wheel turn center method provides a guidance and potential application for suspension evaluation and optimization.
