Transient Voltage Stability Assessment Method based on gcForest

Aiming at the fact that the traditional method cannot quickly and accurately judge the power system transient voltage stability, and the deep neural network method needs many sample data sets and has a large number of hyperparameters, a power system transient voltage stability assessment method based on deep forest (gcForest) is proposed. gcForest effectively extracts features through ensemble learning, multi-layer feature transformation, and dynamically adjusting the number of model layers. Finally, this method is applied to transient voltage stability assessment of an electrolytic aluminium load-intensive area in Guangxi power Grid. The results show that the method has high accuracy, the feasibility and effectiveness of this method are verified. This method can assist dispatchers to judge the transient voltage stability of the power grid.

With the increase of proportion of renewable energy, the uncertainty in power system is significantly increased, and the security operation of power system is facing more challenges. In traditional economic dispatch model, the unit output and load are expressed by constant power, which ignores the automatic regulation effect during system operation. And the transmission system and distribution system are separated optimized, the coordination effect is not considered. In this paper, a new dynamic economic dispatch model is proposed and the automatic regulation effect and transmission-distribution coordination are considered, which can improve the renewable energy accommodation and enhance the system operation security and economics. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed model are illustrated by case studies.

With the rapid developing of renewable energy, it has become a trend that a large number of distributed generations (DGs) integrate into distribution network. Existing distribution energy loss calculation method cannot quickly evaluate the effect of DGs on the distribution loss. To explore new method, the application of circuit theory-based loss calculation method is discussed in distribution network with DGs. Considering that DG has the ability of voltage regulation, namely it can play an important role in distribution voltage support, the grid connection nodes of DGs are equivalent to voltage source nodes, while the other load nodes are equivalent to current source nodes. Then the distribution loss are calculated in three parts: the loss caused by the voltage source alone, the loss caused by the single action of the current source, and the loss related to the both sources and network structure parameters. Loss calculation and discussion are done the 33-bus test distribution system with DGs. The applicability of the method in quickly evaluating the power loss of DG integrated distribution system is analysed and some valuable observation is also presented. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. Aerospace laminated composite structures often require thickness variations along one or more directions in order to satisfy weight and aerodynamic efficiency requirements. Thickness variation is achieved by introducing dropped plies at appropriate locations. However, the influence mechanism of the ply drop location has not been adequately elucidated. In this work, the effect of ply drop location on the mechanical properties of tapered laminates has been investigated by experiment and simulation. Three different ply-drop configurations of tapered laminates were subjected to quasi-static tensile tests. The main failure modes are delamination and ply damage. Delamination can significantly reduce the load-bearing capacity of the structure. The simulation results are in good agreement with the test results in terms of failure load, load–displacement response, and delamination regions. The results demonstrate that the ply drop location affects the order of occurrence of the main failure modes of tapered laminates and the propagation path of ply damage cracks, thereby influencing their mechanical properties. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Combined heat and power (CHP) can simultaneously produce electrical and thermal energy. CHP is an important and main component of the power system in areas with heat demand. However, its operating mode limits the flexibility of the system and aggravates the waste of renewable energy. This paper presents a coordinate dispatch algorithm for electric heating integrated energy system (EHIES), a combined heat and power system with wind power. An efficient optimization algorithm based on dynamic programming (DP) is developed, which overcomes the challenges of solving high dimensional optimization problems for the EHIES. The results of simulation experiments show that the proposed coordinate dispatch algorithm can meet the scheduling time requirements, reduce the operating cost of the system and realize the full consumption of wind power. © 2020 IEEE.

C 5 F 10 O, as a new eco-friendly gas insulating medium with great application potential, has attracted much attention from researchers. There are few studies on the partial discharge (PD) characteristics of C 5 F 10 O/CO 2 O 2 gas mixture at present. In this paper, we used needle-plate electrodes to simulate the extremely inhomogeneous electric field caused by the defects of metal protrusions in electrical equipment and tested the partial discharge initial voltage (PDIV) of C 5 F 10 O/CO 2 O 2 gas mixture. The effect of oxygen on the partial discharge characteristics of C 5 F 10 O gas mixture was revealed. We found that C 5 F 10 O gas mixture has an obvious polarity effect, and PDIV + is always larger than PDIV - . The addition of oxygen reduces the PDIV - and PDIV + of C 5 F 10 O gas mixture and the reduction effect on PDIV + is more obvious. Therefore, the degrading effect of O 2 on the partial discharge characteristics of C 5 F 10 O gas mixture should be considered and the proportion of oxygen in C 5 F 10 O gas mixture should be strictly controlled.

This paper discusses model order reduction of large sparse second-order index-3 differential algebraic equations (DAEs) by applying Iterative Rational Krylov Algorithm (IRKA). In general, such DAEs arise in constraint mechanics, multibody dynamics, mechatronics and many other branches of sciences and technologies. By deflecting the algebraic equations the second-order index-3 system can be altered into an equivalent standard second-order system. This can be done by projecting the system onto the null space of the constraint matrix. However, creating the projector is computationally expensive and it yields huge bottleneck during the implementation. This paper shows how to find a reduce order model without projecting the system onto the null space of the constraint matrix explicitly. To show the efficiency of the theoretical works we apply them to several data of second-order index-3 models and experimental resultants are discussed in the paper. © 2021, CC BY.

As the scale of inverter interfaced distributed generator (IIDG) in low-voltage grid expanding, the changes of distribution network's fault characteristics are drawing great attention. The fault modeling method of IIDG gradually becomes an important part of the fault analysis of distribution network with IIDGs. This paper proposed an IIDG fault model considering the current tracking capability of the converter based on the analysis of the dynamic model, control system and parameter design of IIDG. In the proposed model, IIDG was equivalent to a voltage-controlled current source and a voltage- controlled voltage source according to whether the converter current tracks the reference exactly, which reflects the control characteristics of IIDG under different fault conditions. The case studies show that the calculation results based on proposed model are more consistent with electromagnetic transient simulation than that of existing model and have verified the high calculation accuracy as well as simplicity of the proposed model. © 2019 IEEE.

Considering the ability of rapid power regulation and energy charging and discharging, the energy storage system (ESS) is of great importance for active distribution network (ADN) to enhance renewable energy accommodation. This paper proposes a bi-level optimization approach to conFigure the ESS in ADN. In the inner-level optimization, the low-pass filtering algorithm is implemented for the extraction of high-frequency integration power and a bi-objective optimization model is established to minimize the high-frequency power variation and renewable energy curtailment. Subsequently, in the outer-level optimization, the other bi-objective optimization model incorporating the minimization of capital cost and renewable energy curtailment is established based on the inner-level model. Furthermore, the inner-and outer-level optimization models are solved alternately and iteratively via the coupling variables, in which the inner-level model is solved by the scalarization method and particle swarm optimization algorithm, and the outer-level model is solved by the NSGA-II. A case study is presented to verify the proposed model and corresponding solving approach. © 2019 IEEE.

Loss of massive generation caused by HVDC blocking or tripping of large power plants is a severe threat to frequency security. Only taking emergency control measures after the accident may lead to a large number of loads being cut off. Therefore, preventive control for transient frequency security is considered in this paper except the emergency control. In preventive control, new units are turned on to increase the system's spinning reserve. It's difficult to decide which units to turn on to reduce preventive control costs with regular optimization methods. In order to solve this problem, the reinforcement learning Asynchronous Advantage Actor-critic (A3C) method is applied in this paper. Firstly, Markov Chain is used to model the wind power time sequences. Then A3C is used to optimize the preventive control strategy at different time internals. A simplified provincial power system of China is adopted to verify the validity of the proposed optimization method.
