With the intensification of global climate change, carbon neutrality has become a crucial objective for achieving sustainable development, which critically requires systematic technological innovation and collaborative cooperation between technologies and countries. Through categorization and comprehensive technological assessments, a thorough examination of relevant technologies can furnish a framework to guide emission reduction efforts across various sectors. This review seeks to explore the methods by which various countries achieve carbon neutrality technology systems and pathways, with an in-depth study of the differences between the technological approaches and systems in China, the United states, and European countries. The construction of technology systems in several countries is reviewed, from the composition of the systems to the assessment of technologies that include indicators such as carbon reduction potential. Building upon an analysis of key technological pathways in renewable energy, carbon capture, utilization and storage, energy efficiency improvement, and hydrogen energy across different countries, a systematic evaluation is conducted from three key dimensions—policy formulation, resource endowment, and industrial foundation—to identify the similarities, differences, and driving factors in the construction of carbon neutrality technology systems among nations. Based on the previous work, we conducted a comparative analysis and summary of carbon neutrality pathways across various countries worldwide, systematically reviewing and evaluating carbon neutrality technologies in power generation, industry, transportation, and building sectors. Building upon these findings, the study offers recommendations for coupling diverse technological approaches and for international cooperation. By comparing international experiences and practices, this study provides operational references for countries in formulating technology planning and emission reduction

Navigable flow condition simulation based on two-dimensional hydrodynamic parallel model

Navigable flow condition simulations can provide detailed information on water depth and velocity distribution, simulation speed is one of the key factors which influence real-time navigation. In this paper, a navigable flow condition simulation system is developed to provide useful information for waterway management and shipping safety. To improve the simulation speed of 2-D hydrodynamic model, an explicit finite volume method and Open MP are used to realize parallel computing. Two mesh schemes and two computing platforms are adopted to study the parallel model＇s performance in the Yangtze River, China. The results show that the parallel model achieves dramatic acceleration, with a maximum speedup ratio of 34.94？. The parallel model can determine the flow state of the navigable channel in about 4 min, efficiency is further improved by a flow simulation scheme database. The developed system can provide early warning information for shipping safety, allowing ships to choose better routes and navigation areas according to real-time navigable flow conditions.

With the implementation of the "coal to electricity" project, the heat pump load in the distribution network increases significantly. Standing in the point of heat pump users, cooperative game mode is used for heat pumps joining in day-ahead dispatching of distribution network. In order to accurately describe the polymerization flexibility of the heat pump load cluster, this paper uses the constraint space superposition method based on Minkowski Sum, and describes the heat pump cluster as a "virtual synchronous machine" or "virtual energy storage" model by looking for its maximal inner cube or rectangular pyramid simplification constraint. Furthermore, a method of income distribution among users based on approximated Shapley Value is proposed. The validity of the proposed method is verified by the case based on IEEE 33 mode system. © 2019 Automation of Electric power systems Press.

In order to obtain more output power, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control technology is usually designed to track the maximum power of photovoltaic (PV) array. The traditional power disturbance observation method tends to cause power oscillation loss, so an adaptive variable step algorithm is presented to balance the tracking accuracy and speed of PV system. Different from off-line simulation, the overall model is built on FPGA to complete the real time digital realization of MPPT control for PV system. Finally, the model is simulated and verified by ModelSim software. The experimental results show that the system can track the maximum power more quickly and accurately in real time.

The serious overvoltage phenomenon of restrike caused by capacitor exit will damage the insulation of the circuit breaker and the capacitor, and then affect the safe operation of the power grid. However, the establishment of the characteristics of restrike is still relatively preliminary, and it is difficult to effectively characterize the occurrence of restrike. In this paper, the waveform characteristics of transient voltage and current collected from the system and capacitor neutral point under different operation modes are analyzed, and the transient waveform characteristics of single-phase and inter-phase restrike caused by capacitor exit are established, which provides theoretical basis for the detection and identification of restrike phenomenon. Both theoretical analysis and simulation verify the accuracy of the typical features established in this paper.

The large-scale energy storage with fast, accurate and instantaneous throughput capability undertakes automatic generation control (AGC) to provide a high-quality resource for secondary frequency regulation(FR) in each control area. In order to allocate a reasonable-scale energy storage resource to the application scenarios of different power structure features, a storage capacity allocation method using CPS (control Performance Standard) index evaluation is proposed. Firstly, for the two power supply structures based on thermal power and hydropower formed in China, a simulation model of thermal power and hydropower interconnection system is proposed. Then, through the simulation to quantify the contribution degree of energy storage, it is verified that the energy storage FR requirements of different scenes are different, and the performance extremes and economic extremes of energy storage capacity configuration in different scenarios are obtained by using CPS performance evaluation indicators and their improvement. The proposed model and research results have important guiding significance for rational planning of energy storage capacity in each control area. © 2019 IEEE.

In heterogeneous networks (HetNets), user association and resource allocation (UARA) is a great challenge for radio resource management (RRM). In this paper, a novel QoE-aware UARA scheme is proposed. The delay factor is introduced to QoE metric to weight delays' effect on service transmitting. Then the UARA scheme based on QoE is formulated as an optimization problem which is a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. To solve the problem, we adopt the genetic algorithm (GA) and associate the user association and the resource with population and fitness respectively. Through the evolutions of genetic algorithm, the optimal UARA scheme can be worked out. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme can reduce packet loss rate, and improve the system load balancing performance. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the expanding application of lithium-ion batteries, the state of charge (SOC) estimation based on the Kalman filter (KF) draws great attention. However, lots of KF's variants, such as extended Kalman filter (EKF) and unscented Kalman filter (UKF) are available. In order to find the suitable KF variant for SOC estimation, this paper studies the performance of EKF and UKF in three scenarios based on the two-order RC model by elaborative simulation. The accuracy and convergence of the two filters are compared. The impact of the model deviation on the estimated results is also tested to evaluate the robustness. The test results show that EKF performs much the same as UKF in its accuracy, rate of convergence as well as robustness to model errors in most cases. © 2019 IEEE.

Nowadays, power system often faces the intractable problem of power fluctuation due to the intermittency and stochasticity of renewable energy, such as wind and photovoltaics, generation system. The energy storage system, such as the battery energy storage system (BESS) is an effective way to smooth the power fluctuation so as to increase the allowed penetration level of renewable energy generation in power grid. However, the cost of the energy storage system is still very high and the efficient control strategies are needed to improve the benefit of per unit energy storage as high as possible. In view of that, this paper proposed a novel control strategy for BESS based on the common moving average filter (MAF) and ultra-short-term wind power forecast. By adding future wind power data predicted into inputs of the filter, the MAF could possess the characteristic of nearly zero phase delay, which almost eliminates the low-frequency components in the load of BESS. The control strategy proposed enables BESS to focus on the compensation of the high-frequency components of the wind power, therefore obtaining better smoothing results for given BESS and improving its economic efficiency. simulation results in various scenarios verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

A novel smart community: Combining a flexible heating system as electrical demand response to enhance local renewable energy integration

Due to ineffective coordination, energy communities integrating wind turbines (WTs) and photovoltaic/ photothermal (PV/PT) systems often fail to fully harness local renewable energy sources. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes a novel smart community (SC) framework that incorporates a flexible heating system (HS). The proposed HS facilitates dispatchable solar power generation and responsive heat–electricity demand management by integrating medium-high-temperature photothermal (MHTPT) and ground-source heat pump (GSHP) technologies. Meanwhile, a dual-objective scheduling model is formulated to minimize the operating costs and carbon emissions of the SC system, and its effectiveness is validated through case studies. A hybrid solution architecture combining branch-and-reduce with multi-learning-task is proposed to efficiently solve the mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model and generate multiple optimal Pareto solutions. Case studies on different system configurations validate the superior performance of the proposed SC in reducing operating costs and carbon emissions while enhancing local renewable energy integration. Additionally, the impact of varying renewable on-grid tariffs on SC system operations is analyzed.
