Insufficient power capacity for peak load regulation has caused loss of wind power accommodation in China.A regulation capacity market is under consideration to encourage more peak regulation service,thus how much the market would be is important for each participant.A new peak-load regulation capacity planning method is proposed for long-term market based on the wind power curtailment evaluation model using probabilistic production *** method is suitable for the situation in the planning stage without the knowledge of detailed sequences of load and renewable power,and includes modeling of two peak load regulation measures,increasing the adjustable capacity and to shift some long-lasting units to on/off cycling units.A typical area in China is studied in the paper to evaluate the actual effects of different measures.

A detailed kinetic model comprised of mass transport (k), pore diffusion (k), adsorption and reduction reaction (k), was developed to quantitatively evaluate the effect of corrosion films on the removal rate (k) of halogenated compounds by metallic iron. Different corrosion conditions were controlled by adjusting the iron aging time (0 or 1 yr) and dissolved oxygen concentration (0-7.09 mg/L DO). The k values for bromate, mono-, di- and tri-chloroacetic acids (BrO, MCAA, DCAA and TCAA) were 0.41-7.06, 0-0.16, 0.01-0.53, 0.10-0.73 h, with k values at 13.32, 12.12, 11.04 and 10.20 h, k values at 0.42-5.82, 0.36-5.04, 0.30-4.50, 0.30-3.90 h, and k values at 14.94-421.18, 0-0.19, 0.01-1.30, 0.10-3.98 h, respectively. The variation of k value with reaction conditions depended on the reactant species, while those of k, k and k values were irrelevant to the species. The effects of corrosion films on k and k values were responsible for the variation of k value for halogenated compounds. For a mass-transfer-limited halogenated compound such as BrO, an often-neglected k value primarily determined its k value when pore diffusion was the rate-limiting step of its removal. In addition, the value of k might influence product composition during a consecutive dechlorination, such as for TCAA and DCAA. For a reaction-controlled compound such as MCAA, an increased k value was achieved under low oxic conditions, which was favorable to improve its k value. The proposed model has a potential in predicting the removal rate of halogenated compounds by metallic iron under various conditions.

Aiming at the characteristics of the casing vibration acceleration signal of rotating machinery with rubbing fault, a diagnosis method based on EMD (empirical mode decomposition) and Hilbert envelop spectrum is put forward. When the rubbing fault occurs between the rotor and the stator, the vibration acceleration signals from the casing of the rooting machinery will present amplitude-modulated feature due to the periodical rub-impact between the rotor and the stator. However, it is relatively difficult to extract the rub-impact feature since the rub-impact signal in the process of transferring to the casing is always buried in the noise and background signals. In this paper, by means of the powerful capability of EMD and Hilbert envelop spectrum in processing nonlinear signal can accurately describe nonlinear behaviours, the fault signal is adaptively decomposed by EMD to acquire intrinsic mode functions (IMF) containing obvious feature of amplitude modulation. Then some of the sensitive IMF components are transformed by FFT and their Hilbert spectrum are analysed. The analysis results from the experimental signal show that the EMD provides an effective and adaptive method to obtain 'purified' casing vibration acceleration signal, which demonstrates the transient casing vibration more precisely and vividly, decreasing misinterpretation of the machine running condition. Therefore, the EMD approach can be applied to the single-point rubbing fault diagnosis of the rotor systems efficiently. © 2016, Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology. Optimization of LNG Terminal Reserve Planning for Combined Gas and Electricity system

Considering the effect of LNG supplying risk on the combined gas and electricity system's operation under the multi-gas-source supply background, the optimization planning model of the combined system's LNG reserve is developed in this paper. The optimization objective of this model is minimizing the annual cost of combined system, considering operation simulation of several typical scenarios along 52 weeks in a whole year and the annualized investment of LNG tanks. The operation objective of each scenario is determined by LNG's arrival and the operation mode of LNG terminals. A test system of IEEE-39 test system and Belgian 20-node system is formulated. The optimal LNG reserve of the test system is solved, and the effect of load level and operation mode on the reserve planning is also analyzed.

To improve the superheated steam temperature (SST) control performance, this paper considers the conflicting objectives in SST control, multi-objective optimization (MOO) algorithm is employed in this paper. Firstly, the inner-loop PI controller is optimized by considering the objectives of set-point tracking and disturbance rejection, with and without constraints on robustness level. It is found that robustness constraint is essential in the optimization. Secondly, the regulation performance of the outer-loop PI controller is addressed by optimizing the disturbance rejection and robustness simultaneously. The parameter are determined based on the simulation comparison between the non-dominated solutions. The simulation results demonstrate a promising prospect of promoting the proposed strategy to more industrial practices. © 2017

This paper proposes a new method for short-term load forecasting based on the similar day method, correlation coefficient and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) to achieve the precision analysis of load variation from three aspects(typical day, correlation coefficient, spectral analysis) and three dimensions(time dimension, industry dimensions, the main factors influencing the load characteristic such as national policies, regional economic, holidays, electricity and so on). First, the branch algorithm one-class-SVM is adopted to selection the typical day. Second, correlation coefficient method is used to obtain the direction and strength of the linear relationship between two random variables, which can reflect the influence caused by the customer macro policy and the scale of production to the electricity price. Third, Fourier transform residual error correction model is proposed to reflect the nature of load extracting from the residual error. Finally, simulation result indicates the validity and engineering practicability of the proposed method.

A Baseline Load Estimation Approach for Residential Customer based on Load Pattern Clustering

Demand response (DR) is a key technology enabling reliable and flexible power system operation more economically and environment-friendly than conventional manners from supply side. Customer baseline load (CBL) estimation is an important issue in the implementation of DR programs for assessing the performance of DR programs and designing economic compensation mechanisms. The accurate estimation of CBL is critical to the success of DR programs because it involves the interests of multi-stakeholders including utilities and customers. Motivated by the inaccuracy of existing CBL methods, this paper proposes a residential CBL estimation approach based on load pattern (LP) clustering to improve the accuracy of CBL estimation. First, an adaptive density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is proposed to extract typical load patterns (TLPs) of each individual customer in order to avoid the adverse effects from aggregating many dissimilar LPs together as the real TLP. Second, K-means clustering is utilized to segment residential customers into several different clusters based on the similarity of LPs. Finally, CBLs for DR participants are estimated based on the actual load of non-participants at the same cluster during DR event periods. The proposed methods are compared with some traditional methods on a smart metering dataset from Ireland. The results show that the proposed methods have a better performance on accuracy than averaging and regression methods.

Research on a cloud image forecasting approach for solar power forecasting

Accurate cloud image forecasting is very necessary for sky image based solar power forecasting. To provide a means that can track the cloud deformation process and then forecast the cloud shape and position in a future sky image, a cloud image forecasting approach is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the cloud pixels in sky images are identified using Otsu’s method. Secondly, a mathematical description method of cloud location, shape, and deformation is suggested, so that the key information of cloud and its deformation process can be extracted from original images and then digitized. Thirdly, genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to optimize the cloud deformation process according to digitized historical cloud information. In the end, the cloud shape and position in a future image is forecasted using linear extrapolation. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are validated by simulation.
