A low-speed double disks type permanent magnet synchronous machine is proposed. The electrical machinepsilas stator slot number is close to the rotor permanent magnet pole number and the statorpsilas tooth width is close to a pole distance. The coils that belong to each phase are concentrated and wound on consecutive teeth, so that the end winding is minimal and the phase windings do not overlap. It is conductive to stator cooling and reducing the moment of inertia by using the structure of double stators on two sides and single rotor in middle. Electrical machinepsilas stator is fixed on the end cover and the rotor magnetism pulling force on two sides can balance each other, so that the axial force has no effect on the bearing. The axis length of this machine is smaller than conventional machines, but motorpsilas power density is improved. A prototype had been analyzed and the calculated result proved that phase electromotive force (EMF) of three phase stator winding is better. The amplitude of harmonic torque and cogging torque are very low in this kind of machine, so stability is improved while the machine is running at a low-speed.

Based on constructing different types of distributed generations and energy storage equipments, this paper simulated the dynamical characteristics of MicroGrid with several operating modes under peer to peer control strategy. Two cases were used to analyze the role of storage equipment in MicroGrid. If micro turbine generation with traditional synchronization generator was used in MicroGrid as the main power adjustment unit, the frequency and voltage of MicroGrid would fluctuate during MicroGrid changed from grid-connected mode to islanded mode. In case 2, where the battery was installed in MicroGrid, the oscillation of frequency and voltage could be damped efficiently, and the operating mode switch time was shorten.

Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT) was employed as test sample to investigate the characteristics of surface charge migration. The experiment was carried out on sample surface under a negative dc stress between two parallel electrodes. An electrostatic probe was designed to measure the surface charge density with minimum charge resolution of 0.018 pC. Obtained results show that negative charges appear near high voltage electrode, while positive charges emerge in front of grounded electrode. The hetero charges migrate towards the opposite electrode with time, forming a junction line near the grounded electrode. The polarity of surface charge tends to be positive dominated with the lapse of decay time. It is suggested that the local field at HV electrode will be seriously enhanced if the source is turned on again.

This paper presents a study on effects of flammation retardant in polycarbonate (PC) on the luminescence phenomena during the tracking tests. A photo multiplier tube was employed to measure the light intensity, which is found to be well in accordance with the development of tracking failure. The results obtained reveals that light is easily emitted when the phase angle of applied voltage is around 90deg and 270deg. Weak initial light indicates the coming scintillation discharge; the continuously enhanced light is associated the scintillation discharge and the arc discharge. Each light pulse is composed of a main pulse and scores of small pulses. With the increasing flame retardant in PC, the luminescence intensity significantly decreases. The detecting technique of luminescence is sensitive to measure the light information from faint discharge pulses during the tracking tests.

Polyethylene (PE) was employed as test sample which was previously irradiated in air up to 100 kGy and then up to 1000 kGy with dose rate of 10 kGy / h by using a 60 Co gamma-source. The sample surface was corona charged by applying a series of dc stresses on needle electrode which was set 6 mm above the surface. An electrostatic probe was designed to measure the surface charge density immediately after the charging process. Obtained results show dependence of total surface charge upon the applied voltage and the radiation dose. It is suggested that surface charge accumulation depends upon the density of localized surface states, which is alternated by radiation-induced degradation and cross-linking reactions of molecule structure.

This paper presents a voltage/reactive power global optimization control method in the substation by adaptive ant colony algorithm. It can dynamically adjust pheromone updating strategy and probability of paths selection according to the distribution uniformity of solutions in the optimal process. This method, comprehensively considering the voltage of low-voltage side, the reactive at high-voltage side and the constraint of action numbers of capacitors and transformer taps in one day, makes the control strategy used assure that the voltage, reactive and adjusting times of transformer taps and capacitors can achieve their integrated optimality. Take the practical triple-wound substation for instance, the result of simulating it proves the effectiveness of the method which is presented in this paper, and achieves the desired effect.

A calibration method for the medium/long-term load forecasting is presented. Firstly, a calibration model is built up, based on the regular pattern that the same trend is basically shared by the peak load and the maximum temperature. Secondly, a calibration method is presented. The first step is to correct the historical annual peak load and obtain the load which has no relations with the temperature. Then, forecast the peak load of the horizontal year by traditional way, regarding the corrected load obtained above as the historical data. At last, calibrate the result of forecasting according to the maximum temperature of the horizontal year and the final result is obtained. Finally, a practical case indicated that the model and method proposed by this paper can take the affection of temperature on the peak load into account in forecasting and calibrating, resulting in higher precision of load forecasting. The method has been successfully applied in an urban distribution network planning project.

As the key-ligament between the customer and the generation & transmission system, distribution system plays a very important role in ensuring the continuous power supply for customers in safety and in high reliability. Therefore, the scientific evaluation on the power supply capacity of urban distribution network is of enormous social and economical significance. To improve the insufficiency of traditional method based on the load supply capacity referring from the transmission, this paper proposes a simple and practical method to evaluate the power supply capacity of distribution network. Firstly, the basic definition of the power supply capacity based on the N-l guideline is presented, which is composed of tow parts: one is the power supply capacity of substations, and the other is the transfer capacity of network. Secondly, according to the definition stated above, general formulas about power supply capacity of substations and network transfer capacity are deduced, and the relationship between the power supply capacity of substations and the transfer capacity of network is studied, in which the optimal transfer capacity is concluded consequently. Finally, the theories are summed up and a flow chart of power supply capacity analysis is drawn up. Through application in a district of Shanghai, China, the effectiveness and the accuracy of the proposed model are demonstrated. To summary, the method proposed in this paper under the N-l guideline is a simple and practical method to evaluate the power capacity of a distribution system; besides, the conclusions about network optimal transfer capacity based on power supply capacity can provide effective references for urban distribution network planning.

In this paper an optimum design and control of three-phase grid-connected PV system has been proposed and analyzed. Also, a developed maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller that uses the PV array differential power to voltage (dP/dV) as an index to provide the reference voltage of maximum power point (MPP) quickly and accurately is presented. The control scheme of a three phase current-controlled space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) inverter in rotating synchronous coordinate d-q with the proposed MPPT algorithm and feed-forward compensation is discussed. The PV grid-connected system controller employs multi-loop control with the filter inductor current of the inverter in the inner loop to achieve fast dynamic response and the outer loop to control dc bus voltage for MPPT. The design method provided in the paper for the controller parameters and filter proved to be very practical and effective. Both the power quality into the grid and power factor correction comply with standards IEEE 929-2000. Good agreement is obtained between simulation and experimental results which illustrated the high performance of the proposed approach.

Non conventional instrument transformer (NCIT) and IEC 61850 are crucial technologies in digital substations. But they bring some new uncertainties to protection IEDs, especially the time synchronization issue in current differential protection. The paper analyzes the time delay of transferring sampled values from NCIT to current differential relay in NCIT and IEC61850 based digital substation, then finds out the delay-non-deterministic problem, at last presents a novel current differential protection scheme by using phase-locked loops (PLL ) technology.
