Continuous-time random disturbances from the renewable generation pose a significant impact on power system dynamic behavior. In evaluating this impact, the disturbances must be considered as continuous-time random processes instead of random variables that do not vary with time to ensure accuracy. Monte Carlo simulation (MCs) is a nonintrusive method to evaluate such impact that can be performed on commercial power system simulation software and is easy for power utilities to use, but is computationally cumbersome. Fast samplings methods such as Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) have been introduced to speed up sampling random variables, but yet cannot be applied to sample continuous disturbances. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a fast MCs method that enables the LHS to speed up sampling continuous disturbances, which is based on the Itô process model of the disturbances and the approximation of the Itô process by functions of independent normal random variables. A case study of the IEEE 39-Bus system shows that the proposed method is 47.6 and 6.7 times faster to converge compared to the traditional MCs in evaluating the expectation and variance of the system dynamic response.

In this study, a playback method for dynamic star map simulation fusing cosmic background radiation information was proposed to improve the playback speed of star maps. The image distortion effect before and after the fusion of star maps and cosmic background radiation was evaluated using peak signal-to-noise ratios. The performance of the proposed and the global catalog traversal generation algorithms without cosmic background radiation simulation capability, as well as the indicators, were experimentally compared. The results showed that the average refresh rates of the view cone filtering star map fast-generation algorithm and the fusion playback algorithm of the star map and cosmic background radiation were 74.2 and 73.7 Hz, respectively. Compared with the entire catalog traversal generation algorithm, the instantaneous stability of the single-frame star map was improved by 3.045 and 3.305 times, respectively, and the consumed time consistency was improved by 4.646 and 5.068 times, respectively. © 2024, The Authors. In order to improve the accuracy and maintenance efficiency of fault diagnosis for secondary loop in intelligent substation, this paper proposes a fault diagnosis method based on improved Bayesian algorithm. Firstly, the physical loop and virtual loop models of the secondary loop are established according to the SCD file, and their mapping relationship is established. Secondly, the set of suspicious fault components in the secondary loop is obtained according to the abnormal degree table of physical components. Then, the improved Bayesian algorithm is used to evaluate the components in the set of suspicious fault components. Finally, the output of the Bayesian algorithm is the Bayesian anomaly degree of the suspicious fault components. The component with the highest Bayesian anomaly degree is considered as the fault component. In order to detect the effectiveness and the feasibility of the proposed method, this paper conducts a fault diagnosis case and the diagnosis results demonstrate that the proposed diagnosis method can obtain good discriminant result.

With the development of smart grid and new energy technologies, both load and source uncertainties need be considered in the calculation of total transfer capability (TTC) of power system transmission. Based on deep learning technology and the improved multi-point estimation method, a fast TTC estimation method considering uncertainties of load power, demand response and wind power generation is proposed. The uncertainties are represented by probability distribution of prediction error and Nataf transformation is introduced to deal with the non-normal probability distributions and their correlations. The stacked denoising autoencoder is employed to estimate TTCs of operating scenarios generated by Nataf transform and the improved multi-point estimation method is used to obtain their probability. simulation results demonstrate that the fast estimation method is able to consider both load and source uncertainties effectively and calculate TTC fast and accurately. © 2019 IEEE.

The DC distribution network can integrate the photovoltaic power generation system with high efficiency, but the random fluctuation of the photovoltaic output power is strong and there is a problem of PV consumption, which has a certain degree of impact on the economic optimization operation of the system. Therefore, the source-network-load-storage optimization interaction concept is introduced in the DC distribution network. Based on the in-depth analysis of the interactive load characteristics, the interaction load and energy storage technology can be fully utilized to the system to consumpt the photovoltaic. Combined with the features of DC distribution network structure, comprehensively consider the impact of the interactive load and energy storage system collaborative optimization on the system operating cost and power flow distribution, so that both the power generation side and the power side can participate in the resource optimization configuration of the grid operation. A multi-objective optimal scheduling model for photovoltaic DC distribution networks with operational cost, network loss and voltage deviation is established. The simulation example shows that: Collaborative optimization using interactive load and energy storage system can greatly reduce system operating cost, network loss and voltage deviation, effectively improve the level of PV consumption, and realize safe and reliable operation of DC distribution network. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. Dynamic spectrum allocation (DSA) in cognitive radio system has become a hot topic to solve the spectrum scarcity. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) has shown great flexibility in solving the spectrum allocation problem, and many related studies have been proposed. However, there is still room for improvement in the problem that PSO will have a slow convergence rate in the DSA and the latter particle search is easy to fall into the local optimum. In this paper, a dynamic time-varying spectrum allocation scheme based on chaotic binary particle swarm optimization is proposed. The improved algorithm introduces the idea of chaotic map to optimize the initial population and the optimal position of each generation of particles, and utilizes the global ergodicity of chaotic map to overcome the shortcomings of the algorithm. Based on the graph theory model, a mathematical model of dimensionality reduction spectrum allocation is built to realize DSA for users. The experimental results show that the convergence time cost of the improved algorithm is low, and the higher network rewards can be obtained under different experiments, and the fast and efficient spectrum allocation is realized to satisfy the demands of cognitive radio communication. © 2020 Computer Society of the Republic of China. Integrated energy system is composed of different multiple energy systems. When the combined heat and power (CHP) unit fails, more than one energy systems can be influenced. Therefore, it is very important to improve the reliability of CHP unit. In this paper, we propose a maintenance decision making model for CHP unit based on opportunistic maintenance strategy. Firstly, the expression of the availability of CHP unit considering opportunistic maintenance is derived. And then, in order to quantify the impact of different maintenance strategies on system operation, system operation risk is given taking electrical load loss and thermal load loss into account. Finally, maintenance decision making model of the CHP unit is established with maintenance constraints. Case studies show that the model can optimize maintenance strategies and improve the reliability of CHP unit and the overall system efficiency. © 2020 IEEE.

With the emergence of more and more distributed energy sources (DERs) in distribution network, the traditional distribution network is changing from passive to active, and it is expected to be capable of providing flexibility for transmission system. To effectively quantify the aggregated power flexibility of active distribution network (ADN) provided to upstream gird, the situation inside ADN must be respected. This paper proposes two aggregated power flexibility quantification models considering the uncertainties of DERs and load, and the reliability in ADN. The uncertainties are modelled by distributions and the system reliability is guaranteed by the expected energy not supplied (EENS) constraint. The optimization is solved by mixed integer linear programming (MILP). The performance of the proposed method is tested on the modified IEEE 33-bus distribution system.

To address the problems still existing in line protection for flexible DC grids currently, this paper proposes a non-unit frequency-based line protection scheme for flexible DC grids. Firstly, the values of the initial voltage traveling waves (IVTWs) generated by the fault point under internal and external faults are respectively calculated based on the equivalent model of the four-terminal flexible DC grid. Due to the boundary effect of the current limiting inductors on both ends of DC lines, the attenuation rates of the IVTWs with the increase of frequency under internal and external faults have different characteristics. The detail coefficients of the IVTW in different frequency bands are extracted by stationary wavelet transform at different scales, and the amplitudes of the IVTW in different frequency bands are expressed by wavelet transform modulus maximums (WTMMs). A criterion to identify internal and external faults is constructed based on the square of the frequency-domain equivalent attenuation rate of the IVTW. Lastly, simulation results under diverse fault conditions validate the availability of the proposed protection method.

The growing integration of distributed generation (DG) has changed the operation characteristics of traditional distribution network, and so the active distribution network (ADN) has emerged. Fault recovery is significant to reduce the loss of power failure, but the traditional control strategy without consideration of DG is no longer suitable for ADN. An improved fault recovery strategy is proposed to coordinate the fault reclosing and the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of DG. The influence of fault reclosing on the voltage variation of the point of common coupling (PCC) of DG is analyzed, with different relative locations of fault and PCC, and a critical LVRT voltage is extracted from the scenario where fault reclosing fails. In order to avoid DG outage, a blocking criterion of fault reclosing is presented according to the fault location and the first voltage dip of PCC. Then, the ADN can be split into planned islands considering the balance of DG power and loads and the load priorities, once the fault reclosing is blocked. Moreover, the WAMS Light is implemented for high-speed synchronous data collection and online central control. A case study is conducted to verify the effectiveness of proposed approach. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.
