This paper proposes a fault location and phase selection method for the distribution network containing IIDG based on online active detection, utilizing online active detection. In this method, the characteristic harmonic current injection control strategy based on d- and q-axis control is obtained by analyzing the structure, control strategy, and short-circuit current of IIDG. During a fault, the distributed power supply injects characteristic harmonic current into line, adapting its magnitude with the short-circuit current's size. By detecting the difference in harmonic current content rate for both ends of the fault point, the method achieves online location and line selection of fault points. A 10 kV IIDG distribution network model is simulated by using PSCAD to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed fault location and phase selection method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In order to solve the problem of low accuracy of traditional fault location method when the feeder of distribution network contains load branches, this paper proposes an accurate fault location method for single-phase grounding fault of feeder in distribution network with load branches based on fault secondary discrimination. By analyzing the feeder fault recording data, the fault point is identified twice to determine whether the fault point occurs on the load branch. According to different fault location, the voltage of the fault point is calculated by using the voltage and current of the two ends of the fault section. The voltage of the calculated fault point should be equal. The objective function of the minimum voltage difference of the fault point is written, and the fault distance x under the minimum voltage difference is obtained. The simulation model of 10KV distribution network is built on PSCAD, which verifies the accuracy of the ranging algorithm and has certain ability to resist transition resistance, which has certain engineering practice value. © 2023 IEEE.

As the core part of metal oxide arresters, ZnO varistor plays an important part in suppressing the overvoltage of power systems. With the development of UHV technology, the residual voltage and energy capacity of ZnO varistors have put forward higher requirements. The research is carried out from the perspective of material calculation, studied the correlation mechanism between micro-structure parameters and various macroscopic electrical characteristics of ZnO varistor based on Voronoi network. And the microstructure parameters such as grain size and size inhomogeneity were calculated and studied. The study simplified the optimization problem with multiple variates and objectives, into the one with two categories of variates and two categories of objectives. And then proposed specific strategies. The research provides important theoretical basis for improving the performance of ZnO varistors, and witch is of great significance for the design and manufacture of high-performance lightning arresters. © 2023 IEEE.

The phasor measurement unit (PMU) is widely employed in modern power systems, which enables real-time power system status monitor and risk identification. However, the bad data caused by PMU failure may mislead the risk identification. This paper proposes an efficient power system risk identification method considering PMU bad data. First, this paper describes the risk identification problem based on the analysis of the characteristics of PMU bad data and the power system contingency events. Then, the Teager-Kaiser energy operator with the 3Sigma criterion is proposed for the initial PMU anomaly data screening. Next, based on the difference between the bad data and the contingency events, the Pearson correlation coefficient is adopted for the calculation of the spatial similarity. Finally, a local outlier probability algorithm is presented to analyze the metrics. Case studies are carried out on IEEE 39 and IEEE 118 systems. Results demonstrate that the proposed method has an efficient risk identification accuracy with PMU abnormal data. © 2023 IEEE.

The sequence impedance has a clear physical meaning and can be directly measured by commercial equipment, so it is widely used for stability analysis in the field of electrical engineering. It can be transformed from dq impedance indirectly or calculated based on Harmonic state Space (HSS) theory directly. This paper analyzes the equivalence of the above two methods. Firstly, the dq impedance model of grid-connected converter is established, and the equivalence of impedance in dq domain and sequence domain is proved by mathematical transformation. Then, modified sequence impedance model of grid-connected converter is established considering the frequency coupling phenomenon. On the other hand, the impedance model can also be obtained from HSS modeling with h order harmonics. Subsequently, the relationship between the modified sequence impedance and HSS impedance can be found. The former is a special case when the latter takes h=2. When considering the coupling effect of higher harmonics, HSS impedance model has higher accuracy. Finally, the accuracy and the equivalence of the above-mentioned two methods are verified by frequency sweep. © 2023 IEEE.

The participation of new energy reseurces in market trading needs accurate metering of new energy power generation. In order to establish a verification method for wind power generation metering data, a step-by-5tep k-means clustering algorithm based on discrete wavelet transform is proposed to explore the variation laws of wind power fluctuation, so that a basis for missing data fitting and abnormal data correction of wind power generation curves can be built. The frequency domain analysis of wind power generation data is carried out by using discrete wavelet transform, and the generation curve is decomposed into different frequency ranges. For the frequency domain results after multiple wavelets transforms, step-by-tep k-means clustering is carried out from the lowest frequency component to the highest frequency component. This processing method can etfetively ensure that the information of stroke fluctuation is not lost in the clustering process. Typical curves extracted based on clustering are used to fit the missing data. The proposed method is simulated by using the wind power generation data of some wind farms in East China, and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified. © 2023 IEEE.

Vibro-Acoustic Analysis for Transformer under DC Bias Based on Electromagnetic Coupling

Aiming at the operational stability of DC-biased transformer, a multi-parameter correlation method based on electromagnetic coupling is presented in this paper. The mode-state analysis scheme is designed, and the feature parameters of electromagnetic, mechanical, and acoustic fields in internal components are simulated and analyzed. The electromagnetic properties under DC bias are simulated by the electromagnetic model, thus the winding current and magnetic flux density are extracted as the feature parameters. Then the vibration and stress distribution can be solved by the mechanical model, which are treated as the feature parameters of the mechanical field. By utilizing the computed mechanical information as excitation, the spatial-temporal distribution of sound pressure can be obtained in the acoustic model. Taking three-phase three-limb transformer and three-phase group transformer as examples, the electromagnetic, mechanical, and acoustic parameters of components are analyzed under different conditions. The variations of feature parameters are summarized and contrasted. Furthermore, actual vibration and noise parameters are measured through dynamic experimental platforms. The effectiveness of the multi-parameter correlation method is verified by the consistency between simulation and experiments, and the unobservable abnormal physical features can be represented by observable electrical information. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. The secondary frequency modulation of the unit, that is, the automatic generation control (AGC), is the process of increasing or decreasing the power of the power generation unit by the power plant unit according to the dispatching command issued by the power grid dispatching center, and then using the frequency modulator to restore the frequency. Based on the principle of AGC, this paper establishes a frequency dynamic response model of the secondary frequency modulation of the traditional unit and the wind storage participation system including load frequency control (LFC) and traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers, determines the frequency modulation control strategy of wind storage, and uses the distribution mode based on Area control Error (ACE) signal to assist in the secondary frequency modulation. In order to solve the parameter optimization problem of the classical PID controller when the wind-storage combined system participates in the secondary frequency modulation under the large load disturbance, a parameter optimization model of the controller with PID was established, and the ITAE evaluation index was finally selected as the fitness function by comparing different fitness evaluation indexes. To overcome the problem that the conventional Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is prone to local extremum, the inertia weights and learning factors are adjusted nonlinearly to balance and optimize the global and local optimization capabilities and improve the search efficiency, and the parameters of the PID controller are optimized by the improved PSO algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the secondary frequency modulation effect under the background of a high proportion of renewable energy connected to the power grid. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. The Characteristics and Suppression Protection Measures of AC Filter Closing Inrush Current Considering Residual Voltage and Residual Charge

In recent years, China has implemented numerous ultra-high voltage direct current transmission projects, offering notable advantages such as high stability, low losses, and cost-effectiveness. These projects necessitate frequent switching of AC filters at converter stations to meet reactive power requirements. During filter switching, a substantial closing inrush current is generated. The capacitors in AC filters, made up of multiple small capacitors in series and parallel, can retain residual charge and voltage if flashovers occur in some capacitors. Moreover, due to the capacitors' memory effect, rapid re-closing of the AC filter shortly after system operation can result in residual voltage, leading to a larger closing inrush current. This study presents a residual charge calculation model for high-voltage capacitors and a residual voltage model for quick re-closing scenarios established through PSCAD/EMTDC simulations. The research not only analyzes the detrimental effects of closing inrush current and overvoltage on the filter system caused by residual charges and voltage but also proposes innovative solutions with practical implications. To expedite the discharge of capacitors with residual charges, a novel adjustable discharge resistance model is proposed, which can enhance discharge speed by four times, significantly improving the efficiency and safety of high-voltage transmission systems. In addition, this paper introduces a new type of capacitor flashover fault identification method, which can achieve more accurate identification of the fault location and the number of capacitors that flashover occurs, thereby significantly facilitating the maintenance and troubleshooting of high-voltage systems. © 2024, International Association of Engineers. The electric energy consumption data of marketoriented customers must be perfectly metered or accurately fitted, that is essential for the construction of electricity spot market. The electricity consumption behavior of market-oriented customers is complex and variable, to address the issue that the patterns of the electricity consumption data are difficult to be accurately characterized, an orthogonal polynomial neural network-based data fitting model of electric energy consumption is established. The model is implemented using Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials, Hermite orthogonal polynomials, Legendre orthogonal polynomials, and Laguerre orthogonal polynomials respectively, while the neural network weight coefficients are trained by gradient descent algorithm. The results show that the fitting effect of the same type of electricity consumption data differs significantly among different implementation methods. The neural network models using Hermite orthogonal polynomials and Laguerre orthogonal polynomials have higher fitting accuracy than other models. It is an effective way to achieve accurate data fitting of customer electricity consumption by selecting the corresponding fitting method according to the type of electricity consumption behavior. © 2023 IEEE.
