In this paper, the synchronization stability of converter system based on the phase-locked loop (PLL) is studied, especially when it is connected to a weak AC grid. First, the small signal model considered PLL, power control, current control and voltage feedforward (VFF) control is built. The open-loop transfer function can analyze the stability of the system but hides the dynamic of PLL. So the conjugated circuit is proposed, which describes the dynamics of PLL and the other part separately. Based on the Bode diagrams, we explore how the grid impedance and converter controller parameters influence the stability of the system. In order to verify the analysis results, simulations are conducted in MATLAB/Simulink. © 2021 IEEE.

The randomness of load fluctuations at electric vehicle (EV) charging stations presents a significant challenge for the accurate load forecasting. Considering time-of-use (TOU) price and meteorological factors, EV charging load forecasting method for EV charging station is proposed. First, the factors affecting charging load are analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and the maximum information coefficient (MIC). key factors such as TOU price, temperature, weekday type, and recent historical load data are determined. Next, convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to extract important features and capture complex nonlinear relationships from key factors. Finally, the extracted features are processed by gated recurrent unit (GRU) network to forecast charging load at different time scales. Case study is conducted using load data from EV charging station with a capacity of 1800 kW. The results demonstrate that the CNN-GRU model significantly improves forecasting accuracy at 4h, 24h, 72h, and 168h forecasting lengths compared to other models.

With the continuous construction and development of high-voltage power grids, strategies such as dual redundancy configuration of main protection have been proposed successively to ensure reliable operation of the protection. However, certain abnormal conditions, such as loss of communication power supply, failure of both main protection channels, total station DC power loss (due to fire, etc.), theoretically cannot be completely ruled out in terms of their potential occurrence. According to the power system operation regulations, when the main protection is lost, it is necessary to trip the line, which affects the normal operation of the power grid and disrupts production and daily life. Therefore, a distance protection setting scheme for the loss of main protection in high-voltage power grids has been proposed. When abnormal operating conditions occur, the proposed scheme defines the emergency protection boundary and identifies the protective devices that require protection value modifications. Following the proposed principles, necessary adjustments will be made to the setting values of these protective devices. Using PSCAD/EMTDC to construct a simulation model, the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed distance protection setting scheme in this paper does not require additional protective devices and effectively ensures the safe operation of the power grid under abnormal operating conditions.

In order to solve the problem of low accuracy of traditional fault location method when the feeder of distribution network contains load branches, this paper proposes an accurate fault location method for single-phase grounding fault of feeder in distribution network with load branches based on fault secondary discrimination. By analyzing the feeder fault recording data, the fault point is identified twice to determine whether the fault point occurs on the load branch. According to different fault location, the voltage of the fault point is calculated by using the voltage and current of the two ends of the fault section. The voltage of the calculated fault point should be equal. The objective function of the minimum voltage difference of the fault point is written, and the fault distance x under the minimum voltage difference is obtained. The simulation model of 10KV distribution network is built on PSCAD, which verifies the accuracy of the ranging algorithm and has certain ability to resist transition resistance, which has certain engineering practice value.

Accurate and timely electricity consumption prediction results can not only provide calculation basis for power project investment, but also provide data support for optimal operation decision of power grid. power demand shows different trends of change and development at different time stages, with complex changes, random occurrence and other characteristics. In order to predict the change of electricity consumption at different times, this paper uses VaR (Value-at-Risk) method to evaluate the electricity consumption at different times. VaR method is an important risk management method, which provides people with a comprehensive measurement of market risk and has been widely used. This paper first gives the relevant introduction of VaR; Then the Historical simulation (HS) method and Extreme Value Theory (EVT) method are introduced; The VaR value of electricity consumption is calculated by these two methods, and the results are visualized and compared, and finally the effect of the two methods is evaluated.

With the continuous improvement and development of urban power grid structures, it is inevitable that cable lines will need to be renovated and replaced. In the process of cable construction, the traditional cable cutting process involves independent operations, requiring a large amount of equipment and occupying a large area. Workers need to wear protective clothing when cutting, which is inflexible and inefficient. This approach is no longer adequate for the diverse and complex construction sites of today. To this end, a new type of integrated power cable cutting device is specially designed and developed, which combines testing and cutting, reducing the use of cable cutting tools. The newly developed circuit cutter is designed with features such as compact size, high structural strength, good cutting effect, strong adaptability, and remote control function. It can significantly improve the safety and convenience of cable cutting operations, which is of positive significance for improving construction quality and efficiency and ensuring the personal safety of operators.

The typhoon disaster has severely challenged the reliability of a distribution system. Considering the impacts of typhoon's temporal and spatial evolution on the operation states of distribution lines, a stochastic optimization method based on scenario probability is proposed to conFigure the photovoltaic and energy storage devices considering resilience enhancement. Firstly, the distribution network is gridded geographically, with a spatiotemporal evolution directions and model of the typhoon disaster established based on the meteorological information. Considering one possible typhoon route scenario and its corresponding probability, the optimal configuration problem under such scenario is solved by minimizing the expected economic loss caused by the typhoon. Finally, a modified IEEE33-node distribution system with the historical photovoltaic power data from a certain area, is utilized to analyze the resilience enhancement of the distribution system. © 2021 IEEE.

On the Equilibrium of a Class of Leader-Follower Games with Decision-Dependent Chance Constraints

In this paper, we study the existence of equilibrium in a single-leader-multiple-follower game with decision-dependent chance constraints (DDCCs), where decision-dependent uncertainties (DDUs) exist in the constraints of followers. DDUs refer to the uncertainties impacted by the leader’s strategy, while the leader cannot capture their exact probability distributions. To address such problems, we first use decision-dependent ambiguity sets under moment information and Cantelli’s inequality to transform DDCCs into second-order cone constraints. This simplifies the game model by eliminating the probability distributions. We further prove that there exists at least one equilibrium point for this game by applying Kakutani’s fixed-point theorem. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the impact of DDUs on the equilibrium of such game models. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

To avoid worldwide climate change effects, decarbonization initiatives transit the distribution systems to be mixed with a high penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and enrichable battery energy storage systems (BESS) units. Since the degradation of BESS units is highly relevant to their discharging/charging operations, this paper considers constructing the dynamic DNR model with the aging mitigation of BESS units. This can extend the reaming useful life of BESS units, whilst achieving the minimization loss and smoothing power fluctuations of DERs. For the BESS aging cost, we derive the linearized hyperplanes to approximately quantify the battery life loss, which facilities for the solvability of the dynamic DNR model as a mixed integer second-order conic programming (MISOCP) problem. Case studies demonstrate that this proposed dynamic DNR model can achieve these merits with satisfactory performance.
