To promote low-carbon power system development, our country is increasing new energy grid integration. However, the uncertainty of new energy output brings significant pressure to the stable operation of the power grid, where the large-scale accommodation of new energy has always been a global challenge. As an important pillar of the stability of the new power system, energy storage systems can flexibly adjust power supply and effectively alleviate the impact of new energy output fluctuations on the power grid. In response to this, this paper proposes an optimal allocation method for energy storage resources aimed at absorbing new energy, first establishing the multi-period energy-storage system integrated direct current optimal power flow model, then considering the demand for new energy accommodation in multiple scenarios, it embeds the constraints of new energy accommodation into the aforementioned model. The case study compares the results of energy storage allocation under different new energy accommodation demands, demonstrating the rationality and effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. © 2023 IEEE.

With a large proportion of new energy penetration into the power grid, due to the power generation characteristics of new energy, resulting in the stability of the power grid, it is urgent to solve this problem. This paper describes and explains the structure, working principle and control method of the grid type energy storage converter and the grid type energy storage converter for new energy generation, and analyzes the control model establishment and control strategy optimization of the two at home and abroad. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of grid following energy storage converters and grid forming energy storage converters, and the hybrid energy storage converter is proposed. A simple model is established using PSD-BPA to analyze the advantages of the hybrid energy storage converter and the role played by the grid type and the grid type converter. The future development direction of the energy storage converter is pointed out. © 2023 IEEE.

After fire extinguishing, there will be smoke generation, reignition, and the uncontrolled heat spread of lithium-ion batteries. Given this situation, the fire-extinguishing effect of heptafluoropropane combined with reignition inhibitors on lithium iron phosphate batteries used for energy storage and the amount of reignition inhibitors are analyzed in this paper. The experimental results show that the reignition inhibitor with high thermal stability can exist in liquid form for a long time to achieve long-time cooling of the battery. Therefore, it can effectively inhibit the internal thermal runaway reaction of the battery and then impede the battery's reignition and thermal runaway spread after the fire. The dosage test of reignition inhibitor show that the cooling effect of full submerged method is better than the half submerged method. In addition, the fully submerged method can absorb various particles, and electrolyte vapors brought out by combustion smoke, reduce the amount and concentration of smoke injection, and reduce the harm of smoke after thermal uncontrol of the battery. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Hardware-in-the-loop real-time simulation has been increasingly applied for renewable power generation and grid-integration analysis with the involvement of power electronic converters. In this paper, based on a Buck converter, both time- and frequency-domain errors in real-time simulation applying L/C switching model algorithm are analysed. L/C model-based algorithm deal with the power electronic switch as a constant conductance in parallel with a changing current source, through which the simulation duration is essentially decreased compared to the traditional binary resistance (i.e., Ron/Roff) model. However, through L/C model algorithm, the original topology is modified and the transient switching loss is increased. Based on the Buck converter, this paper first analyses the power loss and the steady-state output deviation between the two simulation algorithms. Then, the output impedance of Buck circuit realized in the L/C model algorithm is established for the first time, which presents evidently deviations in low-frequency area compared to the theoretical small-signal linearizing model. Finally, the simulated steady-state output voltage and frequency-scanned output impedance verify the theoretical analyses. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Aiming at the increasing burden of power system peaking caused by the integration of large-scale new energy generation into the grid and the imperfect participation mechanisms for peaking entities in the power market, this paper proposes an optimal dispatch method for multiple storage and thermal power units. Firstly, to reduce the impact of the volatility of new energy generation on system peaking, the planned market trading power of new energy is optimally allocated with the goal of minimizing the net load on the grid. Secondly, a multi-storage lease transaction mechanism and an energy storage lease declaration model based on the whole life cycle cost are designed, and the charging and discharging power of individual storage units is optimized with the objective of maximizing revenue from multi-storage leasing. Finally, typical daily data are selected and simulated in the improved IEEE 30-bus system. The results show that the proposed method reduces the curtailment rate of new energy and effectively improves the economic efficiency of peaking for power market entities. © 2024 IEEE.

Traffic noise pollution is a significant source of urban pollution. Roadside noise barriers (RNBs) serve as a primary solution to urban traffic noise pollution, but achieving precise positioning of RNBs requires on-site inspections and manual labeling, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Deploying an RNB recognition algorithm on inspection vehicles equipped with cameras and positioning devices is an efficient approach to establishing a high-precision RNB positioning database. We propose a high-accuracy RNB recognition algorithm, RNBFormer. In the model design, we integrate both convolutional and transformer structures to enhance the model's global feature extraction capability while optimizing the representation of local features. Additionally, we incorporate a channel attention mechanism to provide more discriminative features at the channel level. We trained and tested our model on a publicly available dataset, achieving a classification accuracy of 98.93%. © 2024 ACM.

In renewable energy systems,energy storage systems can reduce the power fluctuation of renewable energy sources and compensate for the prediction ***,if the renewable energy prediction deviation is small,the energy storage system may work in an underutilized *** efficiently utilize a renewable-energy-sided energy storage system(RES),this study proposed an optimization dispatching strategy for an energy storage system considering its unused capacity ***,this study proposed an unused capacity-sharing strategy for the RES to fully utilize the storage’s unused capacity and elevate the storage’s service ***,RES was divided into“deviation-compensating energy storage(DES)”and“sharing energy storage(SES)”to clarify the function of RES in the operation ***,this study established an optimized dispatching model to achieve the lowest system operating cost wherein the unused capacity-sharing strategy could be ***,a case study was investigated,and the results indicated that the proposed model and algorithm effectively improved the utilization of renewable-energy-side energy storage systems,thereby reducing the total operation cost and pressure on peak shaving.

Current risk assessment ignores the stochastic nature of energy storage availability itself and thus lead to potential risk during operation. This paper proposes the redefinition of generic energy storage (GES) that is allowed to offer probabilistic reserve. A data-driven unified model with exogenous and endogenous uncertainty (EXU & EDU) description is presented for four typical types of GES. Moreover, risk indices are proposed to assess the impact of overlooking (EXU & EDU) of GES. Comparative results between EXU & EDU are illustrated in distribution system with day-ahead chance-constrained optimization (CCO) and more severe risks are observed for the latter, which indicate that system operator (SO) should adopt novel strategies for EDU uncertainty. © 2022 IEEE.
