With the increase of wind power penetration,the characteristics of the wind farm have brought a significant impact on the security of power *** is urgent to study how to reduce the risk of cascading failures while improving the environmental *** this paper,a cascading failure model containing wind farm is proposed,which considers wind power characteristics,such as the structure of wind farm,the randomness of power of wind farm,the virtual inertia control of wind turbine,and the disconnection response of wind turbine after short-circuit *** order to identify the key factors of blackout,decision tree is used to analyze results generated from this blackout *** control is adopted to decrease the probability or effect of critical attributes that can be found in decision *** blackout risk of IEEE 30 test system integrated with wind farm is *** key factors,such as disconnection of wind turbines from the grid and certain transmission lines,are identified by decision ***,the effectiveness of the virtual inertial control of wind turbine,reactive power compensation and line construction is verified by simulation.

Performance evolution of typical Ni-YSZ anode-supported SOFCs during the initial-stage operation ( 20 h), regardless of the operating current. In the activation stage, the cell performance maintains stable or slightly increases due to the enhanced anode gas-phase diffusion. While in the subsequent aging stage, the cell performance decreases significantly and gradually approaches a plateau in about 100 hours, mainly due to the weakened anode charge transfer reaction and ionic transport processes. Therefore, it is suggested that more efforts should be focused on improving the stability of anode microstructure, especially the stability of anode functional layer. © 2021 Electrochemical Society Inc.. This paper focuses on optimal sizing of photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) of special-use charging station for electric taxi cabs. Aiming to minimize annual equivalent cost of the charging station under two-part electricity pricing mechanism, an optimal sizing algorithm of PV and BESS is established considering the randomness of PV output and the power constraint of the grid, as well as whether charging station participates in demand response (DR). The cooperative operation strategies of charging facilities, PV and BESS under typical scenarios are proposed. Considering the factors that affect the optimal results, this paper provides sensitivity analysis in a charging station. Finally, the proposed optimal sizing algorithm is verified in the charging station equipped with 24 EV charging piles, and the economic analysis of the optimal sizing scheme is carried out. Based on economical analysis of optimal sizing results, it is found out that the equivalent cost of EV charging station is lower when participating in demand response. The results show that the annual equivalent total cost of the charging station is significantly reduced under the new optimal sizing scheme. © 2020 IEEE.

Recently,sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),regarded as promising supplements for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),especially in the large-scale energy storage field,are attracting more and more ***,the limited suitable cathode materials hinder the wide commercialization of *** this aspect,in this work,a new layered oxide with 4d metal Tin was synthesized and investigated as cathode material for *** optimized sodium-deficient O3-Na_(0.9)Ni_(0.45)Sn_(0.55)O_2and O3-Na_(0.9)Ni_(0.4)Mn_(0.1)Sn_(0.5)O_2were selected for comprehensive investigation,both of which exhibited high operating voltage of around 3.45 V with smooth charge/discharge *** comparison,O3-Na_(0.9)Ni_(0.4)Mn_(0.1)Sn_(0.5)O_2shows a higher reversible capacity(65 m A h/g,0.1 C),better rate capability and cycling stability than that of O3-Na_(0.9)Ni_(0.45)Sn_(0.55)O_2(50 mA h/g,0.1 C),indicating that a small amount of Mn-substitution can improve the electrochemical *** work presents a new possibility of discovering potential cathode candidates by exploring the Tin-based layered oxides.

Electro-Geometric Model (EGM) has been applied widely all over the world to evaluate the lightning shielding failure of transmission *** with the increase of operation voltage to 1000 kV and tower height to more than 100 meters, some shortcomings of the traditional EGM model were found by many *** Progression Model (LPM) was proposed to solve these *** some fundamental works, such as when the upward leader initiates and how it propagates, is still *** experiment was designed and implemented in this paper to simulate the electric field circumstance near the test transmission line while the lightning downward leader *** upward leader from the test transmission line was clearly *** inception voltage and characteristics was *** streamer and leader initiated from the ground wire and conductor bundle were *** experiment results show that the leader initiating from the ground wire is more active in the inception *** velocity of the upward leader acquired is about 1.2-3.0 cm/μs.

A comparative study on polypropylene separators coated with different inorganic materials for lithium-ion batteries

Coating commercial porous polyolefin separators with inorganic materials can improve the thermal stability of the polyolefin separators and hence improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries. Several different inorganic materials have been studied for the coating. However, there lacks a study on how different the properties of separators, in inorganic materials affect terms of thermal stability and cell performance. Herein, we present such a study on coating a commercial polypropylene separator with four inorganic materials, i.e., Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2 and zeolite. All inorganic coatings have improved thermal stability of the separators although with differences. The coating layers add 28%-45% of electrical resistance compared with the pure polypropylene separator, but all the cells prepared with the coated polypropylene separators have the same electrical chemical performance as the uncoated separator in terms of rate capability and capacities at different temperatures.

Virtual synchronous generator(VSG)is grid-friendly for integrating distributed generations(DGs)since it can emulate the operation mechanism of traditional synchronous generator(SG).However,the traditional VSG control strategy,which is mainly suitable for balanced voltage conditions,may lead to power oscillations,current unbalance and even overcurrent under unbalanced voltage *** overcome this difficulty,a flexible unbalanced control with peak current limitation for VSG under unbalanced operating conditions is *** on the basic VSG control algorithm,the control strategy integrates two novel control modules,which are current reference generator(CRG)and power reference generator(PRG).The proposed control strategy can flexibly meet different operation demands,which includes current balancing,constant active or reactive *** the injected currents are kept within safety values for a better utilization of the VSG power ***,the experimental platform is *** results demonstrate the validness and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

The uncertainty of renewable energy sources has aroused the interests in depicting the ability of power systems to accommodate the variations. Loadability set is one of the typical methods to characterize the feasible sets of power systems with uncertainties. The existing literature on loadability set do not incorporate intertemporal constraints, while for some cases like security check, intertemporal constraints are necessary and important. This paper firstly adapts loadability set to security check, enabling it to depict the capability of power systems to accommodate load variations. Singular value decomposition (SVD) and progressive vertex enumeration (PVE) are introduced to lighten the computational burden caused by multiple periods. The computational time can be traded off with the precision of approximation to the loadability set. Case studies verify that the loadability set can be approximated with proper precision. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.
