With widely utilization of distributed generations (DGs) and demand response (DR), the active distribution network (ADN) becomes a more proactive and strategic consumer in electricity markets to procure its energy needs at the minimum cost. Under this background, this paper proposes a bi-level trading model for a strategic ADN to minimize its operation cost in the day-ahead market. The upper level model represents the cost minimization of the ADN energy acquisition with consideration of DR, and the lower level model includes the day-ahead market clearing. Based on the complementarity theory and linearization techniques, the proposed bi-level model can be transformed into a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem. Comprehensive case studies demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed strategic trading model for an ADisCo with DGs and DR with respect to nonstrategic bidding approaches. © 2016 IEEE.

Wind power generations (WPGs) are different from traditional generations for their considerable fluctuations. It is challenging to describe the status of a system with power fluctuation injections, especially when considering complicated network constraints. This paper proposes a combined time-and-frequency-domain (CTFD) model to evaluate whether the constraints will be violated under fluctuating wind power injection. The constraints of energy units and branch power flow are described in a generalized form, and are related to the power spectral density of power fluctuations. The distributions of the constraint variables are then discussed based on the CTFD model, and a chance criterion is conducted to describe the probability of the constraints being violated. Case studies show the effectiveness of the proposed model. © 2016 IEEE.

In this paper, the reliability of the rolling bearing fault feature extraction based on casing vibration signals is discussed. Through the fault simulation experiment of rolling bearing, the vibration data of the outer ring fault, inner ring fault and rolling element fault, which respectively comes from bearing block measuring point and casing measuring point, is acquired. Then this paper analyzed the data from the time domain, frequency domain and amplitude domain. Analysis results show that, compared to the bearing block measuring points, due to the attenuation of the pulse signal of the fault in the transmission way and the increase of signal to noise on the casing, the fault features of casing vibration signals are significantly weakened. The envelope demodulation, FFT change on the vibration signal of casing directly cannot extract the fault characteristics. However the fault characteristic frequency can be extracted from the appropriate resonance frequency band. The results provide a reference for the fault feature extraction of rolling bearing based on the signal of casing. © 2016, Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a dynamic droop mechanism is proposed to damp the synchronizing oscillation that exists in a virtual synchronous generator based distributed generator system without varying the steady-state active-power-loop droop coefficient. In order to eliminate the steady-state error introduced due to load changes or generator trips, a distributed secondary controller based on extremum seeking is employed so that microgrid frequency can be restored to nominal value. Besides, the small-signal model of virtual synchronous generator system is presented under d-q reference frame where virtual synchronous generator is deployed as a PV node. Moreover, the linearized system model of virtual synchronous generator with dynamic droop mechanism is derived and its advantage is discussed. Finally, a modified IEEE 14 bus microgrid system is established in Matlab/Simulink platform. simulation results demonstrate the validity and feasibility of the proposed method.

Electrical tree break-down is the major failure problem in cable accessories, however, mechanisms of the electrical tree initiation and propagation are still lack of deeply research, especially in silicone rubber (SIR) which is widely used as insulation material for cable accessories. Long-term aging (0- 1000 h) experiments under the different voltages were conducted to observe electrical tree initiation and propagation processes. In trees initiation stage, with increasing of applied voltage, electrical tree initiation probability becomes larger, while tree initiation time dramatically decreases. The experiment observations demonstrated four shapes of trees which are dominated. As applied voltage increasing, the numbers of electrical trees life-cycles increased and exponential relationship was found between tree length and magnitude of applied voltage. It is noted that charges, whose energy exceeding a certain critical value, destroy microstructure of dielectric accumulatively via injection and extraction, and cause electrical trees initiate when it accumulates to a visible extent. © 2016 IEEE.

This paper presents an optimal power flow (OPF) model for AC/DC meshed networks with Modular Multilevel Converter based High Voltage Direct Current (MMC-HVDC) system. The OPF problem is formulated to minimize the total network loss of the whole AC/DC grids by adjusting generators and modular multilevel converters considering N-1 constraints and post-contingency corrective control. A practical method is proposed to handle N-1 static security constraints and corrective control with OPF more effectively. simulations are conducted on IEEE 39-bus testing system and a practical power grid. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

With the development of energy industry and infor-mation technologies, the concept of energy Internet is proposed to prevent the energy crisis and reduce the environmental pollution. However, the planning of energy Internet is facing great challenges that there are large uncertainties of boundary conditions in the planning. The collection of Internet information can help solve the problem. This paper introduces the method of collecting objective data from the Internet, such as renewable energy sources data, climate data, and economic data, and the usage of the data for energy Internet planning. The method of collecting and processing fuzzy information from the Internet are introduced as well. The events related to the energy Internet planning can be perceived and be applied to the multi-scenario planning of energy Internet. Besides, the difficulties and outlooks of the usages are given.

Recently solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation increases rapidly all over the world. Because of variability, uncertainty, stability and reliability of power system with high penetration of PV generation faces challenges. Frequency stability is one most important thing for power system. In this paper, "synthetic" inertia control and frequency droop control for PV power generation is proposed, with de-loaded operation. "synthetic" inertia control is used to prevent frequency change rate once disturbance occurs, and differential of frequency signal is leaded into control structure of PV inverter. Frequency droop control is used to re-establish frequency after disturbance, using deviation between frequency and its reference. PV power generation, with control method demonstrated as above, is performed in software DIgSILENT powerFactory, to evaluate the dynamic frequency support capability of PV power generation to power system. The simulation results are demonstrated that PV generation is capable to support dynamic frequency. © 2017 IEEE.
