The identification of Markov Blankets (MB) plays a pivotal role in the domains of structural learning and the optimization of feature selection within Bayesian Networks (BN). Although numerous algorithms for efficient or effective MB discovery have been introduced, a persistent challenge remains the reconciliation of computational accuracy with speed. This paper introduces a novel MB discovery algorithm, Efficient Discovery of Spouses for Markov Blankets discovery (ESMB), which enhances spouses identification efficiency by narrowing the candidate set's search range during the PC discovery algorithm phase, and use the separation set to further narrow the spouses search space based on the spouse sufficiency condition before using the AND rule. We evaluate the ESMB algorithm against leading MB discovery algorithms across a suite of standard Bayesian network datasets. Our findings demonstrate that ESMB achieves a balance between execution efficiency and accuracy, rivaling the fastest MB discovery algorithms in speed while approaching the accuracy of the most emblematic MB discovery algorithms. This balance is particularly pronounced in the context of large Bayesian Networks. © 2024 IEEE.

Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2(rhBMP-2)is the predominant growth factor that effectively induces osteogenic differentiation in orthopedic ***,the bioactivity and stability of rhBMP-2 are intrinsically associated with its sequence,structure,and storage *** this study,we successfully determined the amino acid sequence and protein secondary structure model of non-glycosylated rhBMP-2 expressed by an *** expression system through X-ray crystal structure ***,we observed that acidic storage conditions enhanced the proliferative and osteoinductive activity of *** the osteogenic activity of non-glycosylated rhBMP-2 is relatively weaker compared to glycosylated rhBMP-2;however,this discrepancy can be mitigated by incorporating exogenous chaperone ***,such information is crucial for rationalizing the design of stabilization methods and enhancing the bioactivity of rhBMP-2,which may also be applicable to other growth factors.

In the field of unmanned aerial vehicle-based transmission line inspection, the neural network models currently employed suffer from large model sizes and high computational requirements, resulting in a trade-off between detection speed and accuracy. We propose an improved lightweight YOLOv5 object detection algorithm based on channel pruning to address this issue. The approach incorporates the SimAM attention mechanism into the backbone network to enhance feature extraction capability without increasing computational complexity, thereby improving detection accuracy. Traditional convolutional modules in the neck network are replaced with GSconv modules to reduce convolutional computation and enhance detection speed. The Wise-IoU loss is utilized as the localization loss for the detection model, speeding up model convergence. Finally, a model compression technique is implemented to eliminate unnecessary channels within the network, resulting in a decrease in model size and a boost in detection speed. Experimental results on a constructed grid inspection dataset demonstrate that the improved model achieves a 72.1% reduction in model size, a 62.5% reduction in GFLOPs, a 5.9 FPS improvement, and a 0.3% mAP increase compared to the original YOLOv5. These findings underscore the advantages of the improved lightweight YOLOv5 object detection algorithm, offering a blend of heightened accuracy, streamlined size, and swift detection capabilities. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Electrochemical detection of amino acids based on cucurbituril-mediated three-dimensional gold nanoassemblies

In this paper, cucurbit[7]uril(CB[7])-mediated three-dimensional gold nanoassemblies were successfully prepared to increase the loaded amount of CB[7] and enhance the electrochemical detection of amino acids. Particle sizes of gold nanoparticles(Au NPs) significantly affect stability and detection sensitivity of nanoassemblies. The volume of gold nanoassemblies first increased and then decreased with the increase of CB[7] concentration. The 3D gold nanoassemblies composed of 16 nm Au NPs and 100 μmol/L CB[7]had excellent stability and maximum volume, exhibiting more sensitive detection for a variety of amino acids. And the detection limits of aromatic amino acids are lower in virtue of the higher binding constant between aromatic amino acids and CB[7]. This study will develop and deepen our understanding of molecular recognition in amino acids detection.

In-plane longitudinal-bending composite mode linear ultrasonic motors are extensively used in precision positioning due to their compact structure and the elliptical trajectory motion generated by the stator, which directly drives the rotor for high-precision linear motion. The motion control, however, is highly complex due to multivariable coupling factors during the output process. This paper thoroughly examines the intricate contact process between the stator and rotor, as well as the influence of friction on output characteristics during actual operation. By employing the modal energy method, we derive dynamic equations for the stator, offering a more accurate representation of its vibration behavior. Furthermore, we analyze the friction behavior in the stator-rotor contact model, incorporating this nonlinear dead-zone behavior into the model equations. The contact forces between the rotor and stator are integrated into the dynamic equations, precisely describing the rotor's motion. This approach results in a dynamic model that accurately reflects the performance of standing wave linear ultrasonic motors, which is crucial for enhancing the non-ideal output performance of ultrasonic motor motion systems. © 2024 IEEE.

High-contrast and real-time visualization of membrane proteins in live cells with malachite green-based fluorogenic probes

Imaging dynamics of membrane proteins of live cells in a wash-free and real-time manner has been a challenging task. Herein, we report unprecedented applications of malachite green(MG), an organic dye widely used in pigment industry, as a switchable fluorophore to monitor membrane enzymes or noncatalytic proteins in live cells. Conformationally flexible MG is non-fluorescent in aqueous solution, yet covalent binding with endogenous proteins of cells significantly enhances its fluorescence at 670 nm by restricting flexibility of dye. Integrating a phosphate-caged quinone methide precursor with MG yielded a covalent labeling fluorogenic probe, allowing real-time imaging of membrane alkaline phosphatase(ALP,a model catalytic protein) activity in live cells with over 100-fold enhancement of fluorescence ***, MG is also applicable to image non-catalytic protein by conjugation with protein-specific ligand. A fluorogenic probe consisted of c-RGDf K peptide and MG proved to be compatible with wash-free and real-time visualization of non-catalytic integrin α_(v)β_(3) in live cells with high contrast.
