Latency minimization for multiuser computation offloading in fog-radio access networks

Recently,the Fog-Radio Access Network(F-RAN)has gained considerable attention,because of its flexible architecture that allows rapid response to user *** this paper,computational offloading in F-RAN is considered,where multiple User Equipments(UEs)offload their computational tasks to the F-RAN through fog *** UE can select one of the fog nodes to offload its task,and each fog node may serve multiple *** tasks are computed by the fog nodes or further offloaded to the cloud via a capacity-limited fronhaul *** order to compute all UEs'tasks quickly,joint optimization of UE-Fog association,radio and computation resources of F-RAN is proposed to minimize the maximum latency of all *** min-max problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Program(MINP).To tackle it,first,MINP is reformulated as a continuous optimization problem,and then the Majorization Minimization(MM)method is used to find a *** MM approach that we develop is unconventional in that each MM subproblem is solved inexactly with the same provable convergence guarantee as the exact MM,thereby reducing the complexity of MM *** addition,a cooperative offloading model is considered,where the fog nodes compress-and-forward their received signals to the *** this model,a similar min-max latency optimization problem is formulated and tackled by the inexact *** results show that the proposed algorithms outperform some offloading strategies,and that the cooperative offloading can exploit transmission diversity better than noncooperative offloading to achieve better latency performance.

To enable simultaneous transmit and receive(STAR)on the same frequency in a densely deployed space with multi-interference sources,this work proposes a digitally-assisted analog selfinterference cancellation method,which can acquire reference signals through flexible wired/wireless switching *** on this method,the Minimum Mean Square Error algorithm with known channel state information is derived in detail,determining the upper limit of the cancellation performance,and the Adaptive Dithered Linear Search algorithm for real-time engineering cancellation is *** correctness of theoretical analysis is verified by the practical self-interference channel measured by a vector network ***,we have designed and implemented the corresponding multiinterference cancellation prototype with the digitallyassisted structure,capable of handling multiple interferences(up to three)and supporting a large receive bandwidth of 100 MHz as well as a wide frequency coverage from 30 MHz to 3000 *** test results demonstrate that in the presence of three interferences,when the single interference bandwidth is 0.2/2/20 MHz(corresponding to the receive bandwidth of 2/20/100 MHz),the cancellation performance can reach 46/32/22 dB or more.

Event-triggered predefined-time control for full-state constrained nonlinear systems: A novel command filtering error compensation method

In this paper, a command filter-based adaptive fuzzy predefined-time event-triggered tracking control problem is investigated for uncertain nonlinear systems with time-varying full-state constraints. By designing a sliding mode differentiator, the inherent computational complexity problem within the predefined-time backstepping framework is solved. Different from the existing command filter-based finite-time and fixed-time control strategies that the convergence time of the filtering error is adjusted through the system initial value or numerous parameters, a novel command filtering error compensation method is presented,which tunes one control parameter to make the filtering error converge in the predefined time, thereby reducing the complexity of design and analysis of processing the filtering error. Then, an improved event-triggered mechanism(ETM) that builds upon the switching threshold strategy, in which an inverse cotangent function is designed to replace the residual term of the ETM,is proposed to gradually release the controller's dependence on the residual term with increasing time. Furthermore, a tan-type nonlinear mapping technique is applied to tackle the time-varying full-state constraints problem. By the predefined-time stability theory, all signals in the uncertain nonlinear systems exhibit predefined-time stability. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed algorithm is substantiated through two simulation results.

With the popularity of drones, incidents that threaten public safety caused by drones occur more frequently. In drone control and countermeasures scenarios, it is needed to further identify drones of the same type based on type recognition in order to determine the specific source of the signal. Existing schemes are multistep, which increases the complexity and overhead of post-maintenance. In this work, we propose a joint scheme based on RE fingerprinting where the type and individual belonging to the same type are identified in one step. Specifically, we adopt short-time Fourier transform to calculate the spectrogram of the received signal and label the types and individuals of the drone signals on the spectrogram to develop a data set. Based on the data set, we train a YOLOv5 neural network to extract detailed RF characteristics to identify which type and individual the signal belongs to. To further improve the identification performance, we introduce grayscale image colorization. Furthermore, we use median filtering to reduce noise and protect image edge information. Results on data set composed of real signals from 18 drones of 9 types show the classification accuracy of our proposed framework reaches over 98% at saturation and 3% higher than the method without grayscale image colorization. © 2024 IEEE.

To guarantee secure communication against eavesdropping and malicious attack,an artificial noise(AN)-aided frequency-hopping(FH)architecture is adopted in this *** the inevitable time misalignment between the received signal and locally reconstructed AN will deteriorate the AN cancellation performance,yielding significant secrecy degradation at the FH *** view of this,first,the AN cancellation performance under time misalignment is evaluated via signal to AN-plus-noise ratio,and the system secrecy is analyzed via secrecy ***,to mitigate the performance degradation raised by time misalignment,the transmitting power allocation scheme for AN and confidential signal(CS)is optimized,and the optimal hopping period is ***,the obtained conclusions in both the performance evaluation and transmitter optimization sections hold no matter whether the eavesdropper can realize FH synchronization or *** verify that time misalignment will raise non-negligible performance ***,the power ratio of AN to CS should decrease as time misalignment increases,and for perfect time synchronization,the transmitting power of AN and CS should be *** addition,a longer hopping period is preferred for secrecy enhancement when time misalignment gets exacerbated.

Analysis of Transceiver RF Impairments on Artificial Noise Suppression in Frequency-Hopping Systems

The artificial noise shielded frequency-hopping (ANFH) architecture can secure wireless communications against interference and eavesdropping. However, the AN suppression performance is highly sensitive to the radio frequency (RF) impairments, and the transceiver in-phase and quadrature (IQ) imbalances and phase noise in FH systems are more severe for the wide FH bandwidth. In this study, the AN-FH transceivers under RF impairments are mathematically modeled. Subsequently, distortions for transceiver phase noise are represented by the common phase error, distortions for transceiver IQ imbalances are represented by the mirror image component, and closed-form expressions for their respective power are derived and compared with the thermal noise power. Finally, the AN suppression capability is evaluated via the AN suppression ratio (ANSR), defined as the ratio of the AN-plus-noise power before and after suppression. It is found that when only phase noise exists, shortening the channel compensation cycle can enhance ANSR and reduce ANSR degradation;when the distortions' power is smaller than the thermal noise power, it is also recommended to enhance the transmitting power and the power ratio of AN to information signals. When only IQ imbalances exist, increasing the power ratio of AN to information signals is suggested;when the distortions' power is smaller than the thermal noise power, enhancing the transmitting power is also suggested © 2016 IEEE.

In this paper, a short demonstration about the recent progress of our high-power broadband gyrotron travelling wave tube (gyro-TWT) amplifiers in the sub-terahertz band (W and G-band) are respectively reported. Hot test of the W- and G-band gyro-TWTs had respectively achieved a pulsed/averaged output power of over 120 kW/20 kW and 35 kW/2.1 kW within a 10 GHz bandwidth. Based on the fabricated sub-terahertz gyro-TWTs, a scheme to generate high power, ultrashort electromagnetic pulses based on the chirped signal compressor is also presented, which had been verified in the micro- and millimeter wave band. The presented sub-terahertz high-power sources and ultrashort pulses have potential applications in the high-resolution imaging radar, deep space communication, bio-medicine, material modification and catalysis, etc. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging based on compressed sensing (CS) theory can recover complete information from limited ISAR echo signals and reduce the imaging cost of ISAR. The traditional Smooth L0 norm (SL0) algorithm can effectively solve the problem of ISAR signal recovery in the case of high SNR. However, there are usually strong noise and clutter in radar imaging, which greatly reduces the quality of ISAR signal recovery. On the basis of the traditional SL0 algorithm, this paper introduces the dictionary optimization process and proposes the dictionary optimization SL0 algorithm (DO-SL0). By optimizing the dictionary to adapt to the characteristics of the target signal, the performance of signal recovery is improved, the quality of sparse signal recovery under low SNR environment is improved while the cost is controlled, and the ISAR imaging results are effectively improved. In this paper, image entropy (ENT) is used to evaluate and compare ISAR images in low SNR environments using DO-SL0, SL0 and OMP methods respectively. Numerical experiment results show that under the same test conditions, the image entropy of sparse restored ISAR images using DO-SL0 method is lower than that of the other two methods, which verifies that the new algorithm can obtain higher quality restored signals in low SNR environment. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper presents the simulation results for nanosecond pulse amplification utilizing a TE11 mode Ku-band gyrotron traveling wave tube (gyro-TWT). This study evaluates the output performance across various input pulse widths within the 15-17 GHz frequency range. Simulations show that the minimum output pulse width is 0.8 ns, with an output power of 183.9 kW. Moreover, when input pulse widths exceed 2 ns, it is observed that the tube can attain a saturated output power of 293.1 kW, with negligible disparity between input and output pulse widths. The gyro-TWT can serve as a nanosecond pulse source, with potential applications in fields such as military radar, biomedicine, and microwave chemistry. © 2024 IEEE.
