This paper mainly introduces the damage effect experiment of high power microwave (HPM) on GaAs low noise amplifier (LNA). In HPW injection mode, the influence of high power continuous wave and pulses with different repetition rates on the damage threshold of LNAs was studied. The damage mechanism of LNAs was compared and analyzed, which provides an insight into the protection and reinforcement of LNAs.

This paper adopts ADS to model and simulate a standard PIN limiter circuit, studying the effects of I layer thickness and different PRI pulse trains on the limiter's peak leakage characteristics, as well as the conditions for PIN limiters to produce peak leakage. When injecting a Ku-band pulse train with a pulse width of 100 ns and a PRI of 1 ms, the experiment verifies the peak leakage characteristics of the PIN limiter, which provides a way to improve the electromagnetic protection design of the PIN limiter.

This paper proposes an equivalent circuit model (ECM) of transmission lines illuminated by high-power microwave (HPM). The electromagnetic coupling issue is transformed into a circuit problem by Thevenin's theorem, and the transfer impedance is fitted by vector fitting. The equivalent circuit method is more efficient than the full wave method with accurate calculation results, and calculation examples including linear and nonlinear loads verify the method.

Multipath-Based SLAM with DOA Ambiguity

Multipath-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) relies on high-resolution direction of arrival (DOA) estimates to achieve excellent performance. Expanding antenna element spacing is a common strategy to improve DOA resolution. However, excessively large spacing can cause signals from different directions to become indistinguishable, leading to DOA ambiguity. Traditional methods typically address DOA ambiguity through antenna array relocation or the use of multiple arrays. In multipath-based SLAM, however, the movement of the mobile agent naturally facilitates the movement of the receiver's array, allowing the use of high-resolution yet ambiguous DOA estimates. In this paper, we propose a splitting state transition model to handle DOA ambiguity and a novel amplitude measurement model to handle the high nonlinearity it introduces. Integrating these models within an existing Bayesian framework, we develop a message passing algorithm. Simulations demonstrate that the proposed method improves positioning and mapping performance, while exhibiting enhanced robustness against divergence. © 2025 IEEE.

Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging based on compressed sensing (CS) theory can recover complete information from limited ISAR echo signals and reduce the imaging cost of ISAR. The traditional Smooth L0 norm (SL0) algorithm can effectively solve the problem of ISAR signal recovery in the case of high SNR. However, there are usually strong noise and clutter in radar imaging, which greatly reduces the quality of ISAR signal recovery. On the basis of the traditional SL0 algorithm, this paper introduces the dictionary optimization process and proposes the dictionary optimization SL0 algorithm (DO-SL0). By optimizing the dictionary to adapt to the characteristics of the target signal, the performance of signal recovery is improved, the quality of sparse signal recovery under low SNR environment is improved while the cost is controlled, and the ISAR imaging results are effectively improved. In this paper, image entropy (ENT) is used to evaluate and compare ISAR images in low SNR environments using DO-SL0, SL0 and OMP methods respectively. Numerical experiment results show that under the same test conditions, the image entropy of sparse restored ISAR images using DO-SL0 method is lower than that of the other two methods, which verifies that the new algorithm can obtain higher quality restored signals in low SNR environment.

Drawing inspiration from the dynamics of biological groups, flocking behavior has captivated interest due to its adaptive, self-organizing, and resilient characteristics. However, the presence of numerous agents in an open network environment raises concerns regarding the potential for information leakage during flocking movements. To address this issue, we present a decentralized output mapping function, executed independently by each individual agent, to ensure the maintenance of flocking behavior, including velocity alignment, cohesion and collision avoidance. Additionally, to enhance resource efficiency and convergence speed, an event-triggered mechanism is employed to mitigate the excessive consumption of bandwidth and computation resources in traditional flocking control algorithms. Moreover, the designed finite-time controller facilitates rapid convergence of flocking behavior. Finally, the efficacy of our proposed approach is corroborated through numerical simulation experiments. © 2024 IEEE.

Infinite Factorial Linear Dynamical Systems for Transient Signal Detection

Accurately detecting the transient signal of interest from the background signal is one of the fundamental tasks in signal processing. The most recent approaches assume the existence of a single background source and represent the background signal using a linear dynamical system (LDS). This assumption might fail to capture the complexities of modern electromagnetic environments with multiple sources. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a method for detecting the transient signal in a background composed of an unknown number of emitters. The proposed method consists of two main tasks. First, a Bayesian nonparametric model called the infinite factorial linear dynamical system (IFLDS) is developed. The developed model is based on the sticky Indian buffet process and enables the representation and parameter learning of the unbounded number of background sources. This study also designs a parameter learning method for the IFLDS using slice sampling and particle Gibbs with ancestor sampling. Second, the finite moving average (FMA) stopping time is introduced to minimize the worst-case probability of missed detection, and the statistical performance of the stopping time is investigated. To facilitate the computation of the FMA stopping time, this study derives the factorial Kalman forward filtering (FKFF) method and designs a dependence structure for the underlying model, allowing the stopping time to be defined by a recursive function. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and the validity of the theoretical results. The experimental results of the pulse signal detection under the condition of communication interference confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. This paper presents an approach for robust target detection and localization in the context of UAV autonomous landing with partially occluded targets. Since the performance of the autonomous landing system largely depends on the accurate detection and positioning of the landing target, it is very important to deal with the local occlusion caused by obstacles or environmental factors. In order to improve the overall performance of the system, we propose a fault-tolerant target detection method and target completion strategy. The proposed target detection method combines image processing technology with feature extraction algorithm, which can recognize and locate the landing target even in the case of occlusion. The target completion strategy aims to recover the missing part of the occluded target and make the detection and location algorithm execute more reliably. We perform experiments on image data sets with different horizontal object occlusion to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results show that our method successfully detects and locates the landing target under different occlusion levels, and significantly improves the performance of UAV autonomous landing system in the real scene. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper considers the modulation classification of radio frequency (RF) signals. An external attention mechanism-based convolution neural network (EACNN) is proposed. Thanks to the external attention layers, the EACNN network can capture the potential correlations of different modulation data, which helps reduce computational consumption and memory costs efficiently during training. Moreover, to account for the variation of the signals induced by channel fading, we further propose a customized batch normalization (BN) layer in EACNN to improve the classification accuracy with less training time. Numerical experiments on RML2016.a dataset shows that the proposed method outperforms the baseline method CNN2 by 7% in terms of classification accuracy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Radio frequency filter is the core device to improve the signal to noise ratio of radar. A cavity filter for suppressing high harmonics in Ka band millimeter wave (MMW) radar is presented. The structural parameters of the filter are obtained by theoretical calculation. A cavity filter with the center frequency of 8.1 GHz and the relative bandwidth of 9.80% is designed by using HFSS electromagnetic simulation software. The spurious passband is above twice the frequency of the center frequency. The attenuation of the stopband is greater than 78 dB in 9.2 ~16 GHz, which can well meet the demand of the need of Ka band MMW radar to suppress high harmonics.
