Bailianjing River is an important tributary of Huangpu River; 1000 meters upstream its influx to Huangpu River will be set as a landscape river in Expo Site. So the water quality there is of great importance. History reference demonstrated that the river quality was heavily polluted by organic matters and nutrient salts, So the indicators of CODcr, BOD 5 , NH 4 + -N, NO 3 - -N, NO 2 - -N, total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorous (TP) were analyzed in six sites during the period of May, 2008 to April, 2009. The spatial distribution of the value of CODcr explicated that the pollution level of organic matters alleviated since November, 2008. Until April, 2009, it reached category IV surface water body according to CODcr value. Trough analyzing the biodegradability index of the water it could conclude that organic matters were mainly came from the domestic waste water. Nitrogen and phosphorous pollution made the river reach category V surface water. Analyzing the nitrogen indicators in different month it was found that ammonia accounted 82 percent for total inorganic nitrogen while total inorganic nitrogen occupied 65 percent for total nitrogen, so it was critical to control ammonia input for relieving nitrogen pollution. Nitrogen was polluted more seriously in dry seasons, but phosphorous was polluted worse in wet seasons indicated point source and diffuse source pollution, respectively.

The chemical coagulation and ozonation process was used as a advanced treatment to treat the effluent of waste water from a alcohol industry. Used chemical oxygen demand(COD) as the parameter for decision-making. Previously, chemical coagulation experiments were conducted for the optimal coagulation dosages determination, for the coagulants ferric chloride(FC),PAC,PFS, aluminum sulfate(AS) and ferrous sulfate, the experiment results indicated that FC had the highest COD removal efficiencies, as its good performance, FC was chose the coagulant for primary chemical coagulation before ozonation. In ozonation experiments, ozone dosages and pH were studied for their influences on COD removal efficiencies1, it was found that COD removal rate increased while the pH in the solution rose simultaneously, and when increased ozone dosages, the same behavior was observed. When the dosage of the coagulant, ozone and pH reaches 200 mgl-1, 1224mgl-1 and 12, respectively, the COD value was 98 mgl-1, with the total COD removal efficiency reaches 80％. Using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) technique to measure the carbon number the organic matters during the process, the results implied that ozonation had the advance in decreasing carbon numbers of organic matters in the source water and transforming nonbiodegradable organic matters into acid, phenol and ketone compounds which are easy to be decomposed by microorganisms.

In this paper, based on remote sensing data of 1999a and 2007a of the Xiangxi River watershed(XRW) and field investigation, changes of soil erosion and spatial distribution in the XRW has been studied through the GIS spatial overlay analysis of vegetation coverage、terrain slope and land use. The result indicated that the soil erosion area of the XRW reduced from 1999a to 2007a, the areas above moderate soil erosion decreased from 623.01 km2 to 334.19km2，occupied 20.73％ and 11.12％ of the total study area respectively. For spatial distribution, the slight soil erosion distributed extensively. The more serious region mainly distributed in two banks of the river with the proportion of the areas above moderate erosion reached to 46.03％ and 25.45％. It should be gained more attention in the future.

The distribution of picoplankton (Synechococcus, Prochlorococcus, Picoeukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria) and their relationships with environmental factors have been investigated in Bailianjing River near Huangpu River in Shanghai, China. The average abundance of Synechococcus, Prochlorococcus, picoeukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria were 10 3 , 10 3 , 10 4 and 10 6 cells mL -1 , respectively. The abundance of autotrophic picoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria were both showed significant positive correlations with water temperature, which reflected the importance of temperature on picoplankton growth. The results of the Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis showed that the autotrophic picoplankton abundance exhibited significant negative correlations with NH 4 + -N and dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), which suggested that the increasing eutrophic state prohibited the picoplankton growth. The abundance of Picoeukaryotes had a significant positive correlation with total phosphorous (TP); the abundance of heterotrophic bacteria had a significant negative correlation with DIN as the same as autotrophic picoplankton had showed, which revealed the symbiotic relation between autotrophic picoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria. The significant negative correlation between abundance of heterotrophic bacteria and NO 3 - might probably due to the denitrification of heterotrophic bacteria and the uptake of NO 3 - by phytoplankton. All the correlations among picoplankton and nutrients implied that picoplankton could be used as indicators for autotrophic forecasting.

A submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR) combined with aerobic granular sludge (AGS) was studied in this research, in order to enhance removal performance containing higher concentration of organic solids, nitrogen and phosphorus than conventional biological phosphorus removal process. Aerobic granular sludge technology offered a possibility of simultaneous COD, nitrogen and phosphate removal in one reactor. In this aerobic granular sludge membrane bioreactor (AGSBR) process, high average removal efficiencies were obtained: 100% COD removal, 98% phosphate removal and 100% ammonium removal. Moreover, analysis of typical cycle showed simultaneous nutrient removal was possible and phosphorus removal occurred partly by (biologically induced) precipitation. Monitoring the laboratory scale reactors for a long period showed that ORP, pH and DO can be good indication parameters.

In this work,the TiO film was commendably coated on the surface of glazed ceramic by the sol-gel method and the phenol was degraded efficiently with TiO film coated on the inner wall of ceramic *** with glazed ceramic,surface of unglazed ceramic is hackly and not fit to be applied as substrate of TiO ***;of Al and extremely non-uniform thickness of film will decrease the photocatalytic ***,with TiO2 film coated on glazed inner wall of ceramic tube,removal of phenol were 36.58 % and 98.36 % for initial concentrations of 118.90 and 1.83 mg/L respectively when the reaction ran 20 min in the tube. So,TiO film coated on the inner wall of ceramic tube is fit for degradation of corrosion contaminants and terminal purification of water.

In this paper, the authors conducted a survey of 1700 households to investigate and analyze the urban and rural households' waste household electrical appliances (WHEA) disposal habit, as well as their attitudes on recycling modes and the deposit-refund policy. The investigation results show that more than half of urban and rural households' WHEA are sold to private collectors (called non-formal collector in China), only less than 10% WHEA collected by the government or other formal collectors. And significant preference differences exist in recycling modes and relative policies between urban and rural households. More than half of urban households accept the deposit-refund policy, but most rural informants reject this policy. key recommendations will then be outlined concerning the future strategic development to encourage and facilitate households to engaging in formal WHEA recycling system.

In this paper, we calculate the coal efficient utilization ratio (CEUR) of 29 regions in China from 1995 to 2006, by applying data envelopment analysis (DEA) based on the regional own production frontier. And three inputs (labor, capital stock and coal utilization amount) and one output (GDP) are chosen for DEA. Results show that, the more developed area is, the higher CEUR is. The eastern, central and western areas have the highest, medium and lowest 1995-2006 average CEUR (77.37%, 53.22% and 43.34%), respectively, which implies eastern area's coal utilization is the most efficient and western has the lowest efficiency. Chinese government should emphasize particularly on coal utilization efficiency in central and western area. More investment in coal management and introducing advanced technology are the urgent tasks for central and western area to improve coal efficiency and realize sustainable development.

Technique to regional risk zonation of environmental pollution accident and its application

Abrupt environmental pollution accidents occur more and more frequently in a region. Accurate zonation of environmental risk could provide an important tool for preventing and reducing such accidents. A zonation index system and measuring models of regional environmental risk are proposed, based on research of regional environmental risk system and analysis of causes of abrupt environmental pollution accidents occurred. Furthermore, a technique to regional risk zonation of environmental pollution accident is proposed. It involves with the selection of appropriate zonation principles, units, and indexes that can be used for measurement and classification of environmental risk, amending risk rank in a unit, and mapping risk zonation with GIS tools. The technique was applied in the case of environmental risk zonation in Minhang District, Shanghai. And Minhang was divided into four zones with risk degrees of high, medium, low, and lower.
