In this paper, a new reliable H-infinity filter design problem is proposed for a class of continuous-time sys- tems with sensor saturation and failures. Attention is focused on the analysis and synthesis problems of a full order reliable H-infinity filter such that the filtering error dynamics is asymptotically stable with a guaranteed disturbance rejection atten- uation level -y. It is shown that the filtering error dynamics obtained from the original system plus the filter can be modeled by a linear system with sector bounded nonlinearity. The design conditions are given in terms of solutions to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). These conditions are then considered in a convex optimization problem with LMIs constraints in order to design an optimal reliable H-infinity filter. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

This paper presents an explicit model predictive control approach for a forward dc-dc converter. The objective of the proposed control algorithm is to regulate the output voltage in the case of load variations. We first develop a signal averaged model for the forward dc-dc converter, and then extend it to a hybrid model. The related optimal control problem is presolved offline to construct a lookup table, and the controller searches for the control law online, thus avoiding any online optimization. An additional control loop is proposed to deal with the problem of load and source voltage variations.

Adaptive systems have been traditionally analyzed using classical second Lyapunov's method and/or passivity theory. These powerful tools permit the establishment of conditions for convergence and stability (asymptotic and L_2) of adaptive estimators and controllers. A natural, alternative framework to analyze adaptive systems invokes the notion of (flow) contraction, which imposes that some distance between any pair of solutions is monotonically decreasing with time. In this paper we investigate the contraction properties of adaptive systems designed following the principles of immersion and invariance. In particular, we use contraction theory and a recent extension of first Lyapunov's method to give conditions under which adaptive estimators and controllers--designed for nonlinearly parameterized, nonlinear systems--ensure exponential parameter convergence.

Aiming at the difficulty of weighting matrices design for LQG controller, a data-driven economic performance PSO algorithm is presented in this paper. The method introduces a subspace approach to obtain the process characteristics and the explicit functional relationship between the manipulation variance and the output variance, which solves the LQG benchmark problem directly. The PSO algorithm based on the results of economic performance assessment subsequently realizes the accurate optimization of the LQG weighting matrices. The proposed approach is illustrated and verified through a simulation example.

The problem of controllability and control strategy for a class of Networked controlsystems (NCSs) with packets loss are studied in this paper. A probabilistic controllability conception is proposed for these systems. In order to analyze the probabilistic controllability and relevant properties, a representation of the initial state by a group of constructive base of linear space is introduced. Based on this representation the affects to control system caused by packets loss can be expressed by system substates. A control strategy is developed to guarantee, the controllability of NCSs, and the minimum control steps property of this control strategy is discussed as well.
