The problems of electromagnetic wave(EMW)pollution in X and Ku bands(8–18 GHz)are becoming more and more ***,it is urgent to design EMW absorbing materials with high-efficiency such as thin thickness,lightweight,wide bandwidth and strong EMW *** by the biomorph of sea cucumber,Nb_(2)CT_(x) MXene@Co nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet arrays@carbon fiber aerogels(Nb_(2)CT_(x)@Co-NC@CFA,Nb_(2)CT_(x)=niobium carbide)were constructed by self-assembly,in-situ chemical deposition and subsequent *** carbon fiber aerogel,as the basic skeleton of sea cucumber,forms lightweight three-dimensional interconnected conductive network,enhances the dielectric loss and extends the multiple reflection and absorption paths of *** the tentacles of sea cucumber surface,Nb_(2)CT_(x) MXene and Co nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet arrays exist rich heterogeneous interfaces,which play an important role in improving EMW polarization loss and optimizing impedance *** minimum reflection loss(RLmin)of Nb_(2)CT_(x)@Co-NC@CFA reaches−54.7 dB at 9.84 GHz(2.36 mm)with a low filling ratio of 10 wt.%and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of Nb_(2)CT_(x)@Co-NC@CFA reaches 2.96 GHz(8.48–11.44 GHz)with 2.36 mm and 5.2 GHz(12.8–18 GHz)with 1.6 mm,covering most of X and Ku bands by adjusting *** radar cross section(RCS)value of Nb_(2)CT_(x)@Co-NC@CFA is 26.64 dB·m^(2),which is lower than that of the perfect electrical conductor(PEC),indicating that Nb_(2)CT_(x)@Co-NC@CFA can effectively decrease the probability of the target being detected by the radar *** work provides ideas for design and development of EMW absorbing materials with high-efficiency EMW absorption in X and Ku bands.

Kalman filter is widely used for residual generation in fault detection. It leads to optimality in fault detection using some performance indices and also leads to statistically sound residual evaluation and threshold setting. This paper shows that these nice features do not necessarily imply an optimal fault detection performance. Based on a performance index related to fault detection rate and false alarm rate, several occasions where Kalman filter should not be used are pointed out;further the residual evaluation and threshold setting are discussed, in which it is pointed out that in stochastic setting an optimal statistical test of Kamlan filter is not related to optimality of commonly used detection performance indicators. The theoretical analysis is verified through Monte Carlo simulations and Tennessee Eastman process (TEP) dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

True triaxial unloading test on the mechanical behaviors of sandstone:Effects of the intermediate principal stress and structural plane

A series of true triaxial unloading tests are conducted on sandstone specimens with a single structural plane to investigate their mechanical behaviors and failure characteristics under different in situ stress *** experimental results indicate that the dip angle of structural plane(θ)and the intermediate principal stress(σ2)have an important influence on the peak strength,cracking mode,and rockburst *** peak strength exhibits a first increase and then decrease as a function of σ2 for a constant θ.However,when σ2 is constant,the maximum peak strength is obtained at θ of 90°,and the minimum peak strength is obtained at θ of 30° or 45°.For the case of an inclined structural plane,the crack type at the tips of structural plane transforms from a mix of wing and anti-wing cracks to wing cracks with an increase in σ2,while the crack type around the tips of structural plane is always anti-wing cracks for the vertical structural plane,accompanied by a series of tensile cracks *** specimens with structural plane do not undergo slabbing failure regardless of θ,and always exhibit composite tensile-shear failure whatever the σ2 value *** an increase in σ2 and θ,the intensity of the rockburst is consistent with the tendency of the peak *** analyzing the relationship between the cohesion(c),internal friction angle(φ),and θ in sandstone specimens,we incorporate θ into the true triaxial unloading strength criterion,and propose a modified linear Mogi-Coulomb ***,the crack propagation mechanism at the tips of structural plane,and closure degree of the structural plane under true triaxial unloading conditions are also discussed and *** study provides theoretical guidance for stability assessment of surrounding rocks containing geological structures in deep complex stress environments.

Flow-through electrodes have been demonstrated to be effective for electroreduction of Cr(VI),but shortcomings are tedious preparation and short ***,porous titanium available in the market was studied as a flow-through electrode for Cr(VI)*** addition,the intelligent prediction of electrolytic performance based on a back propagation neural network(BPNN)was *** studies revealed that Cr(VI)electroreduction was a diffusion-controlled *** of the flow-through mode achieved a high limiting diffusion current as a result of enhanced mass transfer and favorable *** of Cr(VI)in the flow-through system was 1.95 times higher than in a parallel-plate electrode *** the influent(initial pH 2.0 and 106 mg/L Cr(VI))was treated at 5.0 V and a flux of 51 L/(h·m2),a reduction efficiency of~99.9%was obtained without cyclic electrolysis *** served as the supporting electrolyte and pH regulator,as reactive CrSO72−species were formed as a result of feeding HSO4−.Cr(III)was confirmed as the final product due to the sequential three-electron transport or disproportionation of the *** developed BPNN model achieved good prediction accuracy with respect to Cr(VI)electroreduction with a high correlation coefficient(R2=0.943).Additionally,the electroreduction efficiencies for various operating inputs were predicted based on the BPNN model,which demonstrates the evolutionary role of intelligent systems in future electrochemical technologies.

Disinfection Byproducts and Their Precursors in Drinking Water Sources:Origins,Influencing Factors,and Environmental Insights

Tracing the contamination origins in water sources and identifying the impacts of natural and human processes are essential for ecological safety and public ***,current analysis approaches are not ideal,as they tend to be laborious,time-consuming,or technically *** byproducts(DBPs)are a family of well-known secondary pollutants formed by the reactions of chemical disinfectants with DBP precursors during water disinfection *** DBP precursors have various origins(e.g.,natural,domestic,industrial,and agricultural sources),and since the formation of DBPs from different precursors in the presence of specific disinfectants is distinctive,we argue that DBPs and DBP precursors can serve as alternative indicators to assess the contamination in water sources and identify pollution *** providing a retrospective of the origins of DBPs and DBP precursors,as well as the specific formation patterns of DBPs from different precursors,this article presents an overview of the impacts of various natural and anthropogenic factors on DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water *** practice,the DBPs(i.e.,their concentration and speciation)originally present in source water and the DBP precursors determined using DBP formation potential tests—in which water samples are dosed with a stoichiometric excess of specific disinfectants in order to maximize DBP formation under certain reaction conditions—can be considered as alternative *** jointly used with other water quality parameters(e.g.,dissolved organic carbon,dissolved organic nitrogen,fluorescence,and molecular weight distribution)and specific contaminants of emerging concern(e.g.,certain pharmaceuticals and personal care products),DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water sources can provide a more comprehensive picture of water pollution for better managing water resources and ensuring human health.

In this study,we analyzed the performance of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-based mixed Underwater Power Line Communication-Radio Frequency(UPLC-RF)*** this network,a buoy located at the sea is used as a relay to transmit signals from the underwater signal source to the UAV through the PLC *** assume that the UPLC channel obeys a log-normal distribution and that the RF link follows the Rician *** this model,we obtained the closed-form expressions for the Outage Probability(OP),Average Bit-error-rate(ABER),and Average Channel Capacity(ACC).In addition,the asymptotic analysis of the OP and ABER was performed,and an upper bound for the average capacity was ***,the analytical results were verified by Monte Carlo simulation thereby demonstrating the effect of impulse noise and the altitude of the UAV on network performance.

Aerodynamic force prediction is an important application of deep learning in the field of fluid mechanics. In this paper, a light graph neural network model with residual connections named LRGCN is designed to speed the computational process of the aerodynamic prediction. Comparing with other graph convolutional networks, the LRGCN reduces redundant operations and introduces skip connections, overcomes the limitations of traditional machine learning methods that require geometric airfoil parameters. By using CFD simulation, a dataset of aerodynamic forces for airfoil profiles was generated, where the nodes and edges of the flow field grids are abstracted to build a graph structure for aerodynamic force prediction. This study takes variations of the airfoil shape and pitch angle into consideration, enabling the prediction of lift and drag to be fast. In the numerical experiments, the LRGCN achieves the result that normalized test set loss is around 10-3 and the R2 is higher than 90%, which exhibits stronger robustness and higher accuracy than three other current convolutional models. And the LRGCN runs 60 times faster than the normal CFD method for the same prediction task, which significantly reduces time costs. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.
