With the development of cutting-edge technologies and the efforts of business giants, Metaverse is becoming increasingly reachable. In addition to the fields of healthcare, education and cultural tourism, Metaverse will also have a profound impact on the power grid. The digital twin (DT) is regarded as the foundation of Metaverse, but its high cost hinders the broad application of DTs in power grids. In this paper, we propose a path to build the DTs in the direct current (DC) microgrid, which is a representative block in the future power grid with the penetration of renewable energy sources, forming Grid-Metaverse that can significantly reduce the cost and improve the interactivity. A model-based DT, which is originated from the physical model, and a data-driven DT, using the graph neural network with the data from the model-based one, are built together to illustrate this path and to show their roles in the Grid-Metaverse. Moreover, in the prototype tests, the threats of denial-of-service (DoS) and false data injection (FDI) attacks are validated through the developed DTs. © 2023 IEEE.

Achieving robust nitritation in a modified continuous-flow reactor: From micro-granule cultivation to nitrite-oxidizing bacteria elimination

In this study,a modified continuous-flow nitrifying reactor was successfully operated for rapid cultivation of micro-granules and achieving robust *** showed that sludge granulation with mean size of ca.100μm was achieved within three weeks by gradually increasing settling velocity-based selection pressure from 0.48 to 0.9 m/*** Nitrospira like nitrite-oxidizing bacteria(NOB)were enriched in the micro-granules with a ratio between ammonia-oxidizing bacteria(AOB)and NOB of 5.7%/6.5% on day 21,fast nitritation was achieved within one-week by gradually increasing of influent ammonium concentration(from 50 to 200 mg/L).Maintaining ammonium in-excess was the key for repressing NOB in the ***,when the influent ammonium concentration switched back to 50 mg/L still with the residual ammonium of 15–25 mg/L,the nitrite accumulation efficiency increased from 90%to 98%.Experimental results suggested that the NOB repression was intensified by both oxygen and nitrite unavailability in the inner layers of ***,continuous operation with ammonium in excess resulted in overproduction of extracellular polysaccharides and overgrowth of some bacteria(e.g.,Nitrosomonas,Arenimonas,and Flavobacterium),which deteriorated the micro-granule stability and drove the micro-granules aggregation into larger ones with irregular ***,efficient nitritation was stably maintained with extremely high ammonium oxidation potential(>50 mg/g VSS/hr)and nearly complete washout of NOB was *** suggested that smooth and spherical granule was not a prerequisite for achieving NOB wash-out and maintaining effective nitritation in the granular ***,the microgranules exhibited a great practical potential for high-rate nitritation.

Gut-liver-brain axis is a three-way highway of information interaction system among the gastrointestinal tract,liver,and nervous *** the past few decades,breakthrough progress has been made in the gut liver brain axis,mainly through understanding its formation mechanism and increasing treatment *** this review,we discuss various complex networks including barrier permeability,gut hormones,gut microbial metabolites,vagus nerve,neurotransmitters,immunity,brain toxic metabolites,β-amyloid(Aβ)metabolism,and epigenetic regulation in the gut-liver-brain *** therapies containing antibiotics,probiotics,prebiotics,synbiotics,fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT),polyphenols,low FODMAP diet and nanotechnology application regulate the gut liver brain ***,some special treatments targeting gut-liver axis include farnesoid X receptor(FXR)agonists,takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5(TGR5)agonists,glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)receptor antagonists and fibroblast growth factor 19(FGF19)*** gut-brain axis embraces cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT),antidepressants and tryptophan metabolism-related *** liver-brain axis contains epigenetic regulation and Aβmetabolism-related *** the future,a better understanding of gut-liver-brain axis interactions will promote the development of novel preventative strategies and the discovery of precise therapeutic targets in multiple diseases.

Perovskite solar cells（PSCs） are promising in the field of photovoltaics but are hindered by surface defects and ***,the energetic losses occurring at the interfaces between the perovskite and the charge transport layers often lead to reduced power conversion efficiency（PCE）.Surface treatment is an effective strategy but the passivating ligands usually bind with a single active *** resulted dense packing of resistive passivators perpendicular to the surface is detrimental to charge ***,we present a passivator that can bind to two neighboring lead（Ⅱ） ion(Pb2+) defect sites simultaneously with an aligned parallel mode to the perovskite surface,effectively suppressing the surface trap density and preventing the *** target device fulfills a PCE of 25.1% and maintains over 85% of the initial efficiency after 800 h of exposure to a relative humidity（RH） of 65% ± 5%.

With the development of information and communications technology (ICT) in DC microgrids (DCmGs), the threat of false data injection attacks (FDIAs) is becoming more and more serious. However, the existing literature mainly focuses on the detection and identification of FDIAs in DCmGs, while the data recovery after the perception of FDIAs has never been thor-oughly investigated yet. In this paper, we propose a distributed data recovery scheme to eliminate the adverse impact caused by FDIAs in DCmGs. Firstly, by observing the point of common coupling (PCC) voltage under FDIAs, the injected constant bias can be roughly estimated. In order to obtain the precise constant bias, the mean filter (MF) is adopted to handle the measurement noises and small oscillations. Then, the estimated precise constant bias is compensated for the communicated signal to eliminate the attack impact. Furthermore, our proposed data recovery scheme, which only needs local information, is fully distributed. Finally, the accuracy and effectiveness of the distributed data recovery scheme are evaluated through systematical hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiments. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper investigates the distributed state estimation problem for a linear time-invariant system characterized by fading measurements and random link failures. We assume that the fading effect of the measurements occurs slowly. Additionally, communication failures between sensors can affect the state estimation performance. To this end, we propose a Kalman filtering algorithm composed of a structural data fusion stage and a signal date fusion stage. The number of communications can be decreased by executing signal data fusion when a global estimate is required. Then, we investigate the stability conditions for the proposed distributed approach. Furthermore, we analyze the mismatch between the estimation generated by the proposed distributed algorithm and that obtained by the centralized Kalman filter. Lastly, numerical results verify the feasibility of the proposed distributed method. © 2023 The Franklin Institute

High ammonia-nitrogen digestate has become a key bottleneck limiting the anaerobic digestion of organic solid *** ammonia stripping can simultaneously remove and recover ammonia nitrogen,which has attracted a lot of attention in recent *** investigate the parameter effects on the efficiency and mass transfer,five combination conditions(53℃ 15 kPa,60°C 20 kPa,65°C 25 kPa,72°C 35 kPa,and 81°C 50 kPa)were conducted for ammonia stripping of sludge *** results showed that 80%of ammonia nitrogen was stripped in 45 min for all experimental groups,but the ammonia transfer coefficient varied under different conditions,which increased with the rising of boiling point temperature,and reached the maximum value(39.0 mm/hr)at 81°C 50 *** ammonia nitrogen removal efficiency was more than 80%for 30 min vacuum stripping after adjusting the initial pH to above 9.5,and adjustment of the initial alkalinity also affects the pH value of liquid *** was found that pH and alkalinity are the key factors influencing the ammonia nitrogen dissociation and removal efficiency,while temperature and vacuum mainly affect the ammonia nitrogen mass transfer and removal *** terms of the mechanism of vacuum ammonia stripping,it underwent alkalinity destruction,pH enhancement,ammonia nitrogen dissociation,and free ammonia *** this study,two-stage experiments of alkalinity destruction and ammonia removal were also carried out,which showed that the two-stage configuration was beneficial for ammonia *** provides a theoretical basis and practical technology for the vacuum ammonia stripping from liquid digestate of organic solid waste.

Lunar core samples are the key materials for accurately assessing and developing lunar ***,the difficulty of maintaining borehole stability in the lunar coring process limits the depth of lunar ***,a strategy of using a reinforcement fluid that undergoes a phase transition spontaneously in a vacuum environment to reinforce the borehole is *** on this strategy,a reinforcement liquid suitable for a wide temperature range and a high vacuum environment was developed.A feasibility study on reinforcing the borehole with the reinforcement liquid was carried out,and it is found that the cohesion of the simulated lunar soil can be increased from 2 to 800 kPa after using the reinforcement ***,a series of coring experiments are conducted using a selfdeveloped high vacuum(vacuum degree of 5 Pa)and low-temperature(between-30 and 50℃)simulation *** is confirmed that the high-boiling-point reinforcement liquid pre-placed in the drill pipe can be released spontaneously during the drilling process and finally complete the reinforcement of the *** reinforcement effect of the borehole is better when the solute concentration is between0.15 and 0.25 g/mL.

In order to improve the efficiency of indoor mobile robots in locating and segmenting environmental instances, an instance segmentation method based on RTMDet is proposed. Firstly, the more powerful ConvNeXt V2 is used as the backbone network of the model, which improves the performance of the existing RTMDet model. Subsequently, NAS-FPN is used as a converged network to detect the network at any given time. Finally, AdamW is used as the model optimiser, which effectively solves the problem of excessive memory occupation when updating parameters and improves the performance of the model. The proposed method obtains the highest evaluation index in all cases. After training and testing on the Cityscapes data set, the recognition accuracy reaches 65.0%. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Active power dispatch of wind farms plays an important role in power grid scheduling. In this paper, a data-driven active power dispatch strategy for wind farms is proposed, which uses the key point of minimizing the standard deviation of wind turbines' output power series to reduce their fluctuations. First, to build the optimization problem, the historical active power output data of each wind turbine is collected from the Supervisory control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Then, the objective function is developed based on the idea of minimizing the standard deviation of the output power time series. Meanwhile, considering the constraints of wind turbines' output power and active power balance of the grid, the feasible domain of the cost function is constructed. Further, to solve the proposed nonlinear optimization problem with equality and inequality constraints, the trust region interior point method (TRIPM) is employed to explore optimal solution within the feasible domain. Finally, actual data collected from wind farms is used to test effectiveness of the designed approach and experimental results show that our method can achieve better output power smoothing performance than conventional Proportional Dispatch (PD) method. © 2024 IEEE.
