Mitigation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in roasted beef patties by cold plasma treatment and products quality evaluation

The cold plasma(CP)technique was applied to alleviate the contamination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH)in this *** different CP treatments methods were implemented in the production of beef patties,to investigate their inhibition and degradation capacity on *** 5 different cooking oils and fats addition,the inhibition mechanism of in-package cold plasma(ICP)pretreatment was explored from the aspect of raw patties fatty acids composition *** results of principal component analysis showed that the first two principal components accounted for more than 80%of the total variation in the original data,indicating that the content of saturated fatty acids was significantly positively correlated with the formation of *** pretreatment inhibited the formation of PAHs by changing the composition of fatty acids,which showed that the total amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids decreased and the total amount of monounsaturated fatty acids *** discrimination tests demonstrated there were discernable differences between 2 CP treated samples and the controls,utilization of the ICP pretreatment in meat products processing was expected to achieve satisfying eating *** conclusion,CP treatment degraded PAHs through stepwise ring-opening oxidation in 2 reported pathways,the toxicity of PAHs contaminated products was alleviated after CP treatment.

Visual SLAM or visual odometry is essential for robot navigation and *** quality of the images that the robot captures dramatically influences the performance of visual SLAM or visual *** some challenging conditions,such as low light or changing light,the images are of bad quality,with reduced contrast or photometric *** is hard to extract enough information for tracking from these kinds of *** this work,we solve this problem by applying image enhancement,a lightweight yet effective *** enhancement methods could be combined with different visual odometry algorithms as an independent module without significant changes to the entire *** image enhancement methods focus on enhancing the visual effect of images and are not designed for camera *** introduce an unsupervised low-light image enhancement method,adopting 3 D clues to form the temporal and scale ***,we augment the training data with gamma transformation to mimic multiple lighting conditions,enabling the network to handle both low-light and changing-light *** experiments are conducted on some illumination-related datasets for visual odometry,and the result verifies the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

This reaction features excellent selectivity, wide functionality tolerance, broad substrate scope, and facile late-stage modification of biologically relevant *** studies recognize initial generation of an amidyl radical anion via thermoinduced reduction of DMF with Sn, followed by umpolung reduction and single electron transfer of the nucleophilic sulfonyl moiety to form a sulphydryl radical and engage the Ni^(0)/Ni^(Ⅰ)/Ni^(Ⅲ)/Ni^(I) catalytic cycle.

Membrane fouling is a bottleneck issue that hindered the further application of ultrafiltration *** alleviate membrane fouling,coagulation-ultrafiltration(C-UF)process using polyaluminum chloride(PACl)and PACl-Al_(13)with high proportion of Al_(13)O_(4)(OH)_(24)^(7+)as coagulants,respectively,were investigated at various pH *** indicated that an increase in solution pH contributed to larger floc size and looser floc structure for both PACl and PACl-Al_(13).It was conducive to the formation of more porous cake,as evidenced by mean pore area and pore area distribution of cake,leading to lower reversible ***,humic acid(HA)removal presented a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase of *** optimal HA removal was achieved at pH 6 regardless of coagulant type,suggesting that the slightest irreversible fouling should be occurred at this ***,the irreversible fouling with PACl coagulant achieved a minimum value at pH 9,while the minimal irreversible fouling with PACl-Al_(13)was observed at pH *** speculated that the cake formed by PACl could further intercept HA prior to UF process at alkaline ***,compared with PACl,PACl-Al_(13)had a stronger charge neutralization ability,thus contributing to more compact floc structure and higher HA removal at various pH *** UF fractionation measurement,higher HA removal for PACl-Al_(13)was due to higher removal of HA with molecular weight less than 50 kDa.

Data-driven models employed to waste plastic in China: Generation, classification, and environmental assessment

It is crucial to precisely predict the generation of plastic waste and realize its fine classification in terms of policy demand and environmental benefits. Only a few studies have used the date-driven model to forecast the amount of plastic waste. The benefits of classifying the plastic waste using deep learning have also been only scarcely reported in the literature. Therefore, this study used the Prophet model to estimate the amount of plastic waste from 2005 to 2025. Four types of Visual Geometry Group Networks based on Transfer Learning (TLVGGNet) were performed for classifying the plastic waste. Potentials of saved energy, the reduction of green-house gases emission (GHG), and air pollutants were also discussed under different scenarios (current recycling system and TLVGGNet system). The results showed that the amount of waste plastic was anticipated to be 26.44 Mt in 2020 and 33.18 Mt in 2025 in China. The method of transfer learning could shorten the training time and improve the performance of the TLVGGNet-11 model in the test dataset (41.6–68.1%). Moreover, TLVGGNet-16 was considered to be the most optimum model for plastic waste classification in terms of training time (83.94 s), accuracy (75.5%), precision (76.9%), recall (75.5%), and F1 score (75.1%). The TLVGGNet-16 system contributes about 12.15–15.97% in terms of electricity-savings. Compared with the current recycling system, the amount of CO2 emissions saved and reduction in CH4 emissions could be more than 8–10% and 0.4–0.5%, respectively, in the TLVGGNet-16 system. The saved VOCS and NOX emissions were within the ranges of 34.84–127.22 billion kg and 93.64–414.14 billion kg between 2017 and 2025 using the method of deep learning. © 2022 by the International Society for industrial Ecology.

In automotive particulate filter applications, accurate real-time soot load is critical to filter regeneration, which significantly affects vehicle safety and economics. Based on the modified soot accumulation and filter pressure drop characteristics, equations of state and measurement have been deduced, and a corresponding novel Luenberger observer is developed. Due to the limitations of the differential pressure sensor, the deviation of its measurement value is small at small exhaust flow rates and can not reflect the soot load. To figure out this issue, a mode-switching strategy is proposed to schedule the correction gain according to the exhaust flow rate. A co-simulation platform has been built to validate the observer, which adopts GT-Power as the test vehicle. Compared with the open-loop observer under single and multiple NEDC cycles, the mode-switching observer shows some improvement, and the maximum deviation is reduced from 0.58g/L to 0.1g/L. Thus, by reducing the times of regenerations, fuel consumption can be saved about 8%. Finally, the proposed observer shows better robustness when a disturbance occurs, the maximum deviation still maintain a low level of about 0.25g/L. © 2023 IEEE.

MaBEL1 regulates banana fruit ripening by activating cell wall and starch degradation-related genes

Banana is a typical subtropical fruit, sensitive to chilling injuries and prone to softening ***, the underlying regulatory mechanisms of the softening disorder caused by cold stress remain obscure. Herein, we found that BEL1-LIKE HOMEODOMAIN transcription factor 1(MaBEL1)and its associated proteins regulate the fruit softening and ripening process. The transcript and protein levels of MaBEL1 were up-regulated with fruit ripening but severely repressed by the chilling stress. Moreover, the MaBEL1 protein interacted directly with the promoters of the cell wall and starch degradation-related genes, such as MaAMY3, MaXYL32, and MaEXP-A8. The transient overexpression of MaBEL1 alleviated fruit chilling injury and ripening disorder caused by cold stress and promoted fruit softening and ripening of “Fenjiao” banana by inducing ethylene production and starch and cell wall degradation. The accelerated ripening was also validated by the ectopic overexpression in ***, MaBEL1-silencing aggravated the chilling injury and ripening disorder and repressed fruit softening and ripening by inhibiting ethylene production and starch and cell wall degradation. MaABI5-like and MaEBF1, the two positive regulators of the fruit softening process,interacted with MaBEL1 to enhance the promoter activity of the starch and cell wall degradationrelated genes. Moreover, the F-box protein MaEBF1 does not modulate the degradation of MaBEL1, which regulates the transcription of MaABI5-like protein. Overall, we report a novel MaBEL1-MaEBF1-MaABI5-like complex system that mediates the fruit softening and ripening disorder in “Fenjiao” bananas caused by cold stress.

Antiferroelectric materials are promising candidates for energy-storage applications due to their double hysteresis loops,which can deliver high power *** the antiferroelectric materials,AgNbO_(3)is proved attractive due to its environmental-friendliness and high potential for achieving excellent energy storage ***,the recoverable energy storage density of AgNbO_(3)ceramics is limited by their relatively low breakdown ***,the breakdown strength of the pure AgNbO_(3)ceramics prepared using the tape casting method is enhanced to 307 kV·cm^(-1),which is,to the best of our knowledge,among the highest values reported for pure AgNbO-3bulk *** high breakdown strength may be due to its dense microstructure and good crystallinity obtained by the tape casting method and the optimized sintering *** to its enhanced breakdown strength,AgNbO_(3)ceramics show high recoverable energy storage density of 2.8 J·cm^(-3).These results have led to the development of lead-free antiferroelectric materials and devices with high energy storage density.
