Smart gels have many applications in sensors, actuators, shape memory intelligent devices, recognition, self-healing, drug release, biomimetic soft robot design, biomimetic tactile, neural regeneration, biomimetic membranes, supercapacitor, dye-sensitized solar cells, advanced lithium polymer batteries, environmental fields, biomedical fields, et al. And that cyclodextrins are one of the typical macrocycles with good recognition ability, and endowed with fascinating hydrophobic cavities and hydrophilic surface, which enable the encapsulation of diverse small organic molecules by forming inclusion complexes. In this paper, grafted copolymerization between acrylic acid and N, N-dimethyl acrylamide in the presence of water-soluble cyclodextrins was carried out. The effect of ratio of copolymerization monomer on the grafted polymer was examined. The results indicated that self-crosslinking smart gel with multi-stimuli responsive was obtained by selecting suitable the ratio of copolymerization monomer, its behaviors of swelling/shrinking were examined. The adsorption properties and releasing characteristics of smart gel were performed with simulating drugs. Some meaningful results were obtained. These series grafted copolymer would also be used to modify the surface and interface properties of low-dimensional functional materials or heterostructured nanocomposites for intelligent organic-inorganic functional nanocomposites, some good results were obtained. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Nano/Micro-structured CeO2 and their nanocomposites have been received considerable attention in basic research and commercial applications, such as, new energy fields, photocatalysts, environmental fields, et al. To extend its visible light response and pave the effective conductive channels for charge transfer and separation in nano scale is still facing great challenges. To explore these key issues of materials chemistry and physics, CeO2 nanorods were prepared with aid of soft templates by wet chemical approach. Graphene nanoribbons were obtained with unzipping method of carbon nanotube (CNTs). Entanglement of CeO2 nanorods and graphene nanoribbons oxides was realized based on the supermolecular interactions between surface active groups of CeO2 nanorods and graphene nanoribbons oxides and excellent flexibility of graphene nanoribbons. A series of characterizations were examined by SEM (scanning electron microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscopy), XRD (X-ray diffraction), the Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and so on. Photocatalytic efficiency was examined by selecting typical organic pollutants. The results indicated that the entanglement of a small amount of graphene nanoribbons on the surface of CeO2 nanorods not only expanded the light response of nanocomposite to visible light, but also enhanced the adsorption properties to organic pollutants. Because of excellent charge transfer properties and high mobility of graphene nanoribbons, the nanocomposites of CeO2/graphene nanoribbons are favor for electron-holes pairs generated by visible light, separation, and transfer, which would be important potential applications in photocatalysts, artificial photosynthesis system, nano/micro-devices, et al. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Hundreds of incubators get birthed worldwide every day, and many new ICT technologies developed continuously, like cloud computing and big data. Therefore, it's possible and necessary to develop a cloud computing platform that gathering a variety of data and resources information needed by thousands of incubators and millions of incubated enterprises. In this paper, after comparing three different countries incubator's management procedure, we mainly talk about the way to design a cloud-based incubator platform including its architecture, main functions, and the interface. We assume that the platform can gather and share a variety of information and resource, like money, human resource, equipment, office place and so on. So the platform is beneficial for the incubated enterprises, incubators, and the government. For example, the platform can provide individual services through big data technology. The platform can analysis the situation of incubators and warn the companies in dangerous condition with the history big data. Finally, this paper describes the use case of cloud-based incubator platform for Guangdong Province.

Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), which urgently call for highly reliable and effective communication technologies for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) applications. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is widely believed to be the most promising candidate among these applications. However, the orthogonality of subcarriers in OFDM can be easily destroyed by the Doppler-induced inter-carrier interference (ICI), which is very common in V2X channels. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme which integrates the ICI self-cancellation technique into the index modulated (IM-) OFDM framework. Via careful designs, the proposed scheme can not only inherit the advantages of IM-OFDM but also suppress the ICI from active subcarriers. Simulations validate that in V2X channels, the proposed scheme significantly outperforms existing IM-OFDM and more importantly shows better performance than the conventional OFDM with ICI self-cancellation without sacrificing the spectral efficiency.

Multi-player pursuit–evasion games with one superior evader

Inspired by the hunting and foraging behaviors of group predators, this paper addresses a class of multi-player pursuit–evasion games with one superior evader, who moves faster than the pursuers. We are concerned with the conditions under which the pursuers can capture the evader, involving the minimum number and initial spatial distribution required as well as the cooperative strategies of the pursuers. We present some necessary or sufficient conditions to regularize the encirclement formed by the pursuers to the evader. Then we provide a cooperative scheme for the pursuers to maintain and shrink the encirclement until the evader is captured. Finally, we give some examples to illustrate the theoretical results.

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is prone to frequency offset which gives rise to intercarrier interference (ICI). Recently, a novel OFDM transmission scheme called OFDM with index modulation (IM-OFDM) is proposed, which outperforms conventional OFDM in the absence of frequency offset. As in IM-OFDM, partial subcarriers are set to be idle by spatial modulation, the potential of IM-OFDM in ICI reduction is expected. In this paper, we find that this potential vanishes in some real scenarios with ICI, which leads to IM-OFDM exhibiting even worse performance than conventional OFDM. To improve this situation, a novel ICI cancellation scheme is designed, which integrates the ICI self-cancellation technique into the IM-OFDM framework. Via careful designs, the proposed scheme not only provides a solution to ICI problems of IM-OFDM, but also achieves an attractive tradeoff between the spectral efficiency and ICI cancellation performance of the system. Simulations validate that in the presence of carrier frequency offset (CFO), the proposed scheme significantly outperforms existing IM-OFDM and more importantly shows better performance than the conventional OFDM with ICI self-cancellation.

Among the mathematical optimization algorithms, simplex algorithm is a popular and practical algorithm which was listed as one of the top 10 algorithms of the twentieth century by the journal Computing in Science and Engineering. Although simplex algorithm is efficient in the linear programming, the quality of convergence is unacceptable in practice as a numerical breakdown of the algorithm, even for smooth and well-behaved functions. On the other hand, full convergence might be seen in genetic algorithms (GA) using only crossover. So in this paper we combine the GA and simplex algorithm by initializing simplex from the final individual in GA and getting the converged result through simplex algorithm thereafter. A case study in estimating gas emission shows noteworthy improvement of efficiency and stability, compared with GA or simplex algorithm.

Rolling element bearings constitute the key parts on rotating machinery and their fault diagnosis are of great importance. In this paper, a novel Two-Step fault diagnosis framework is proposed to diagnose the status of rolling element bearings with imbalanced data. The Wavelet Packet Transform(WPT) is used to determine the feature vectors. 16-dimensional wavelet packet node energies were extracted from the original datasets as the feature vectors prepared to input to the ***, our proposed framework consists of two steps for the fault diagnosis, where Step One makes use of Weighted Extreme Learning Machine(weighted ELM) in an effort to classify the normal or abnormal categories, and Step Two further diagnoses the underlying anomaly in details. The effectiveness of our proposed approach is testified on the raw data collected from the rolling element bearing experiments conducted in our institute,and the empirical results showed that our approach is really fast and can achieve the diagnosis accuracies more than 95%.

Optical immersion clearing is a technique that has been widely studied for more than two decades and that is used to originate a temporary transparency effect in biological *** applied in cooperation with clinical methods it provides optimization of diagnosis and treatment *** technique turns biological tissues more transparent through two main mechanisms-tissue dehydration and refractive index(RI)matching between tissue *** matching is obtained by partial replacement of interstit ial water by a biocompat ible agent that presents higher RI and it can be completely rever sible by natural rehydration in vrivo or by assisted rehydration in ex vivo *** data to characterize and discriminate between the two mechanisms and to find new ones are *** a simple method,based on collimated transmittance and thickness measurements made from muscle samples under treatment,we have estimated the diffusion properties of glucose,ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were used to perform such char acterization and *** these properties with data from literature that characterize their diffusion in water we have observed that musde cell membrane permeability limits agent and water diffusion in the *** same experi-mental data has allowed to calculate the optical dearing(OC)eficiency and make an inter-pretation of the internal changes that occurred in muscle during the *** same methodology can now be used to perform similar studies with other agents and in other tissues in order to solve engineering problems at design of inexpensive and robust technologies for a *** improvement of optical tomogr aphic techmiques with better contrast and in depth imaging.
