Principal component analysis (PCA) is very suitable for complex process monitoring and diagnosis, but it suffers many limitations such as great calculation load, poor real-time performance and lacking of on-line monitoring. Here, this paper presents a new method for multi-variable statistical process monitoring. Based on this new method, the principal component monitoring model can be generated in the principal component subspace, and the error monitoring model can be set up in the residual subspace. The method provides a human-machine monitoring interface and related fault-diagnosis interface for integrating Principal/Error/Multi-variable. This will change the real-time data of the multi-variable into the monitoring information of an integrated process, and present them effectively to the operators. With this method, on-line monitoring system was designed for the distillation process as an example, and the effectiveness of this method was illustrated.

Aiming at the business competition in the global market, how to real-timely monitor the dynamic trends of supply chain in the market has been a difficulty of supply chain management. By putting into several levels of monitoring process of the supply chain, we developed a method for the information system of supply chain monitoring on the basis of the IDEF model. With this method, one would expect to detect unexpected variations at an early stage and to give early-warnings for potential risks. The enterprises would have enough time to respond to unwanted situations, to take preventive decisions and to meet efficiently the market demands.

In this paper, we present a bearing-only on-line target localization platform, and succeed to realize the whole process of target localization. In the experiment, five nodes are used to send their moving target bearing line data to a base station which adopts asynchronous pseudolinear (APL) estimator for localization. The performance of Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation is analyzed in both cases of static and moving target. The results show on-line single target localization is satisfying.

This paper reports on the application of dynamic time warping (DTW) to evaluate controller performance of batch processes. Batch processes often are characterized by unequal durations due to changing batch-to-batch operational conditions. To compare conveniently the performance different batch runs and different controllers, one requires equal batch duration. Therefore, batch data lengths are synchronized by compressing and expanding batch trajectories of various lengths in order to provide a unified controller performance index. Synchronization can be achieved by using DTW algorithm. The DTW algorithm is nonlinear and flexible pattern matching technique. The applicability of the proposed method for controller performance assessment of batch processes is illustrated through an industrial example.

ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 beacon-enabled mode allows low duty-cycle operation with high energy saving in the wireless sensor network. However, low duty cycles introduce higher end-to-end delay in event propagation and generally lower reactivity of the network with respect to the actual sensing. In target tracking systems, both qualities should be satisfied, namely, low energy consumption while no target is being tracked and low end-to-end delay in target tracking mode. Hence, we need to define a trade-off between the energy consumption and the end-to-end delay. In this paper, we propose a dynamic dual-rate beacon scheduling method with two rate switching schemes modifying ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 to enhance its real-time property but still maintain the advantage of low energy consumption. We evaluate our scheme through a simulation using the OPNET simulator. The results show that our scheme exhibits low energy consumption while presenting reduced end-to-end delay, outperforming usual single rate working modes.

The aim of this paper is to study the determination of the stability regions for continuous-time systems subject to actuator saturation. Using an affine saturation-dependent Lyapunov function, a new method is proposed to obtain the estimation of the domain of attraction of the closed-loop system. A family of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs） that provides sufficient conditions for the existence of this type of Lyapunov function are presented. The results obtained in this paper can reduce the conservativeness compared with the existing ones. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
