In this paper, the adaptive critic method is applied to solve a class of continuous-time event-based H_∞ control problems. The present control problem is transformed into a two-player zero-sum differential game and the adaptive critic structure is employed for coping with the event-based minimax optimization. Next, the event-based optimal feedback control and the time-based worst-case disturbance law are learned by training a critic neural network. In addition, the closed-loop system is constructed with stability analysis of the critic error dynamics and the sampled-data plant. The exclusion of the infamous Zeno behavior of the present event-based control design is also discussed. Finally, the control performance of the present approach is evaluated through simulation study.

Video image datasets are playing an essential role in design and evaluation of traffic vision algorithms. Nevertheless, a longstanding inconvenience concerning image datasets is that manually collecting and annotating large-scale diversified datasets from real scenes is time-consuming and prone to error. For that virtual datasets have begun to function as a proxy of real datasets. In this paper, we propose to construct large-scale artificial scenes for traffic vision research and generate a new virtual dataset called "ParallelEye". First of all, the street map data is used to build 3D scene model of Zhongguancun Area, Beijing. Then, the computer graphics, virtual reality, and rule modeling technologies are utilized to synthesize large-scale, realistic virtual urban traffic scenes, in which the fidelity and geography match the real world well. Furthermore, the Unity3D platform is used to render the artificial scenes and generate accurate ground-truth labels, e.g., semantic/instance segmentation, object bounding box, object tracking, optical flow, and depth. The environmental conditions in artificial scenes can be controlled completely. As a result, we present a viable implementation pipeline for constructing large-scale artificial scenes for traffic vision research. The experimental results demonstrate that this pipeline is able to generate photorealistic virtual datasets with low modeling time and high accuracy labeling. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. In order to solve the coal-fired boiler operation optimization problem with multiple main controllable parameters, a fuzzy pattern fusion based on competitive agglomeration (FPF-CA) algorithm is developed and applied in this paper. A simplified mathematical model for coal-fired boiler systems is applied in terms of both historical operational and thermal efficiency data under different load conditions. The FPF-CA algorithm can be applied to perform information fusion in terms of combining fuzzy clusters of some quantitative attributes with generated quantitative association rules. The historical data collected from a 130/2.82-M circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler being installed in a production scale thermal power plant is used to specifically analyze, and the simulation experiment results show the application of FPF-CA algorithm is a decision oriented intelligent technology and may provide an efficient results for coalfired boiler operation optimization in thermal power plant. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

In order to solve the problem of mining quantitative association rules, an algorithm named Fuzzy Pattern Fusion based on Competitive Agglomeration (FPF-CA) is developed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is based on the superior functionalities of Fuzzy Pattern Fusion (FPF) for mining quantitative association rules and Competitive Agglomeration (CA) for finding the optimal number of clusters. The popular data set of UCI machine learning repository is used to demonstrate the feasibility of the FPF-CA algorithm. The simulation experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently mine quantitative association rules according to the actual data distribution. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Selective catalytic reduction （SCR） of NOx with NH3 is an effective technique to remove NOx from stationary sources, such as coal-fired power plant and industrial boilers. Some of elements in the fly ash deactivate the catalyst due to strong chemisorptions on the active sites. The poisons may act by simply blocking active sites or alter the adsorption behaviors of reactants and products by an electronic interaction. This review is mainly focused on the chemical poisoning on V2O5-based catalysts, environmental-benign catalysts and low temperature catalysts. Several common poisons including alkali/alkaline earth metals, SO2 and heavy metals etc. are referred and their poisoning mechanisms on catalysts are discussed. The regeneration methods of poisoned catalysts and the development of poison-resistance catalysts are also compared and analyzed. Finally, future research directions in developing poisoning resistance catalysts and facile efficient regeneration methods for SCR catalysts are proposed.

A framework for multi-session RGBD SLAM in low dynamic workspace environment

Mapping in the dynamic environment is an important task for autonomous mobile robots due to the unavoidable changes in the workspace. In this paper, we propose a framework for RGBD SLAM in low dynamic environment, which can maintain a map keeping track of the latest environment. The main model describing the environment is a multi-session pose graph, which evolves over the multiple visits of the robot. The poses in the graph will be pruned when the 3D point scans corresponding to those poses are out of date. When the robot explores the new areas, its poses will be added to the graph. Thus the scans kept in the current graph will always give a map of the latest environment. The changes of the environment are detected by out-of-dated scans identification module through analyzing scans collected at different sessions. Besides, a redundant scans identification module is employed to further reduce the poses with redundant scans in order to keep the total number of poses in the graph with respect to the size of environment. In the experiments, the framework is first tuned and tested on data acquired by a Kinect from laboratory environment. Then the framework is applied to external dataset acquired by a Kinect II from a workspace of an industrial robot in another country, which is blind to the development phase, for further validation of the performance. After this two-step evaluation, the proposed framework is considered to be able to manage the map in date in dynamic or static environment with a noncumulative complexity and acceptable error level.

Background: Experimental and epidemiological studies indicate an association between exposure to particulate matter (PM) air pollution and increased risk of type 2 diabetes. In view of the high and increasing prevalence of diabetes, we aimed to quantify the burden of type 2 diabetes attributable to PM_2·5 originating from ambient and household air pollution. Methods: We systematically compiled all relevant cohort and case-control studies assessing the effect of exposure to household and ambient fine particulate matter (PM_2·5) air pollution on type 2 diabetes incidence and mortality. We derived an exposure–response curve from the extracted relative risk estimates using the MR-BRT (meta-regression—Bayesian, regularised, trimmed) tool. The estimated curve was linked to ambient and household PM_2·5 exposures from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2019, and estimates of the attributable burden (population attributable fractions and rates per 100 000 population of deaths and disability-adjusted life-years) for 204 countries from 1990 to 2019 were calculated. We also assessed the role of changes in exposure, population size, age, and type 2 diabetes incidence in the observed trend in PM_2·5-attributable type 2 diabetes burden. All estimates are presented with 95% uncertainty intervals. Findings: In 2019, approximately a fifth of the global burden of type 2 diabetes was attributable to PM_2·5 exposure, with an estimated 3·78 (95% uncertainty interval 2·68–4·83) deaths per 100 000 population and 167 (117–223) disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) per 100 000 population. Approximately 13·4% (9·49–17·5) of deaths and 13·6% (9·73–17·9) of DALYs due to type 2 diabetes were contributed by ambient PM2·5, and 6·50% (4·22–9·53) of deaths and 5·92% (3·81–8·64) of DALYs by household air pollution.
