Parallel driving is a novel framework to synthesize the vehicle intelligence and transport automation. This article aims to define the digital quadruplets in parallel driving. In the cyber-physical-social systems (CPSS), based on the ACP method, the names of the digital quadruplets are first given, which are descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and real vehicles. The objectives of the three virtual digital vehicles are interacting, guiding, simulating and improving with the real vehicles. Then, the three virtual components of the digital quadruplets are introduced in detail and their applications are also illustrated. Finally, the real vehicles in parallel driving system and the research process of the digital quadruplets are depicted. The presented digital quadruplets in parallel driving are expected to make the future connected automated driving safety, efficiently and synergistically. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Lower-limb exoskeletons are increasingly used in gait assistance applications to assist patients with locomotive disorders in rehabilitation and daily life. To provide assistance based on the user's variable joint stiffness with human-like characteristics is a growing and challenging field. This paper proposed an adaptive controller for a lower-limb exoskeleton with time-varying delay using variable stiffness transferring strategy. Neural network compensation was applied to estimate the nonlinearity caused by the time-varying delay and the model uncertainties in the lower-limb exoskeleton systems. To compensate for the delay, an integral Lyapunov function was introduced and an adaptive Lyapunov-based control structure was constructed. In the controller design, a variable stiffness transferring strategy was integrated and the stiffness was transferred from an able-bodied individual estimated with muscle forces and musclotendinous stiffness. By utilizing the proposed adaptive neural network control strategy and adaptive Lyapunov-based control structure, the global stability of lower-limb exoskeleton system was guaranteed and the tracking errors converged to the zero. The proposed control strategy was validated on 2-DOFs knee and ankle lower limb exoskeleton in simulation, demonstrating effective results in trajectories tracking, and thus is crucial for determining strategies for exoskeleton control.

Visual reasoning between visual image and natural language description is a long-standing challenge in computer vision. While recent approaches offer a great promise by compositionality or relational computing, most of them are oppressed by the challenge of training with datasets containing only a limited number of images with ground-truth texts. Besides, it is extremely time-consuming and difficult to build a larger dataset by annotating millions of images with text descriptions that may very likely lead to a biased model. Inspired by the majority success of webly supervised learning, we utilize readily-available web images with its noisy annotations for learning a robust representation. Our key idea is to presume on web images and corresponding tags along with fully annotated datasets in learning with knowledge embedding. We present a two-stage approach for the task that can augment knowledge through an effective embedding model with weakly supervised web data. This approach learns not only knowledge-based embeddings derived from key-value memory networks to make joint and full use of textual and visual information but also exploits the knowledge to improve the performance with knowledge-based representation learning for applying other general reasoning tasks. Experimental results on two benchmarks show that the proposed approach significantly improves performance compared with the state-of-the-art methods and guarantees the robustness of our model against visual reasoning tasks and other reasoning tasks.

As renewable power generation directly affects the customers' traditional electricity behavior and then offsets the power load, this paper proposes a load curve modeling method for renewable power customers based on the behavior analysis. Firstly, customers' active behavior is represented by the quantity of active customer households. Based on the analysis of customer behaviors, a modeling method for the quantity of active customer households is proposed based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo method. Then, with the inputs as the quantity of active customer households and time of photovoltaic power generation, an inference model based on fuzzy logic is proposed to get the quantity of customer household starting electrical appliances. By combing the average usage time of electrical appliances, load characteristics are analyzed based on usage state of electrical appliance of distributed power customers. Finally, the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

although online education has improved efficiency of learners' access to high-quality educational resources, real-time interaction between instructors and learners have not yet been achieved in online personalized learning. intelligent Tutoring systems (ITS) provides a feasible way to realize realtime personalized learning guidance and resource recommendations by applying AI to capture and analyze online learners' characteristics and behaviors. In this paper, reviews and trends of ITS are discussed and three challenges of ITS research & development are pointed out: learner model, guidance mechanism and human-computer interaction mechanism. In order to address these issues, parallel intelligence theory is introduced and a parallel intelligence education based ITS framework is proposed.

Nowadays, AI education from Kindergarten to 9 th grade(K-9) is in full swing in China, but many challenges exist, such as fragmented AI curricula, ineffective teaching tools, and uneven educational resources in urban and rural areas, etc. So this paper presents an in-depth study of the current status of K-9 AI education in Qingdao area through questionnaires, expert discussions, and field visits to sort out existing problems and then put forward corresponding advice and suggestions. Collected data is then analyzed from the perspectives of government, schools, teachers, students and parents, respectively. Results show that AI-related educational activities have been carried out in Qingdao area to improve students' AI literacy. But efforts are still needed to make such education more systematic, standardized, and personalized. Finally the paper made a list of recommendations corresponding to these needed efforts.

Interest in autonomous driving (AD) and intelligent vehicles (IVs) is growing at a rapid pace due to the convenience, safety, and economic benefits. Although a number of surveys have reviewed research achievements in this field, they are still limited in specific tasks, lack of systematic summary and research directions in the future. Here we propose a Survey of Surveys (SoS) for total technologies of AD and IVs that reviews the history, summarizes the milestones, and provides the perspectives, ethics, and future research directions. To our knowledge, this article is the first SoS with milestones in AD and IVs, which constitutes our complete research work together with two other technical surveys. We anticipate that this article will bring novel and diverse insights to researchers and abecedarians, and serve as a bridge between past and future. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Cyber-Physical-Social systems (CPSS) provides a novel perspective for constructing “Smart City”, which is also known as the Human-Machine-Things-system (HMTS), focusing on the fusion of ternary space: social network of human society, network of machines and the Internet of things. In this paper, we propose a specific implementation framework of CPSS for Smart City based on intelligent loops, including basic modeling and interactive fusion, state perception and cognition, and adaptive learning. On this basis, an overall architecture of the CPSS platform is designed, which is applied in the urban transportation management in Hangzhou. The application results demonstrate that the intelligent loop could optimize the control and management strategies for actual urban transportation.

Collaborative Optimization of Cyber Physical Social systems for Urban Transportation Based on Knowledge Automation

The integration of signals from physical, social and cyber spaces, known as Cyber-Physical-Social systems (CPSS), is a new research paradigm for urban transportation, where the traffic control and management (C&M) is collaborative optimized among the three sub-systems. Though some technologies and optimization methods have been studied since its proposition, there is a lack of a systemic architecture as well as an overall implementation about how to efficiently exploit the social signals. For this reason, this paper proposes a general framework of CPSS for urban transportation and presents a feasible solution for traffic optimization based on knowledge automation. The specific implementation includes basic modeling of CPSS, knowledge evolution and reasoning, and collaborative optimization of C&P strategies. As a remarkable highlight, the influence of both individual activities and social learning is concerned during knowledge evolution and reasoning part. A case study from the application in the city of Dongguan is also given to validate our proposed framework and methods, showing that they can efficiently improve the average speed of the actual transportation.

Smart education is leading the development direction of Chinese education informatization and becoming a main theme of education development in the era of which technology changes education. There are seven main branches of smart education, namely intelligent Tutoring system (ITS), smart campus, Big Data in Education (BDE), knowledge graph, educational robots, virtual teachers, and personalized education. Based on literature survey and market research, this paper gives a comprehensive overview of the research and application of smart education from above seven aspects and proposes its development based on the status of smart education development. © 2019 IEEE.
